Update: Notes from George:
"They're all EML, The sequencer is running on it's own, the Polybox is following an oscillator on the 101 and the 500 is doing the bass line. The drums are actually a real Pearl acoustic set on Power Dive being played by a guy named Pete Gerdin. The vibraphone sound at the beginning of Happy Tune was the vibratone setting on a Yamaha YC-45D combo Organ. The sequencer just gets programmed and turned loose. I just played along with it."
"the samples were 29 years old and dug up off an old cassette in order to let people hear what a Polybox could be used for besides chords. Remember, the BIG music happening then was Disco. (ugh)"
That modular is a really nice amalgamation of EML synths. LUcky guy
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a 101 not a 100 on the left.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to mount that stuff.
ReplyDeleteYep it's a 101. Swore that's what I put up... It was also in the thread George sent me that inspired the post.
ReplyDeleteThat is actually two EML sequencers. The top left panel and the top right panel are both EML 400's.
ReplyDeleteThe moduler cluster looks like it's made up of 2 300's, 2 400's 1 401 and 1 200.
Looks fantastic!
Heath
Yep. It's two making one massive EML Sequencer, otherwise it would just be an EML Sequencer, not massive. But, then is it two made into one massive or just two separate ones. Only the synth gods know. ; P
ReplyDeleteIts even more impressive in person!
ReplyDeleteGeorge was buddies with the EML guys so he had a 24db filter fitted instead of EML's usual 12db.
...same one he had them build for the Syntar I think.
Simply georgeous.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteActually, I put the 24dB filter into it myself in parallel with the 12db filter that came stock. Plus, I added a noise source. Just 1 400/401 synth with an extra 416 panel hooked up to it. A 200 and two 300's. I got tired of stacking the damn boxes.
ReplyDeleteGeorge
The top synth on the right is an Ensoniq Mirage. The center is an Ensoniq SQ 1+ and the bottom is an Alesis QS8
ReplyDeleteGeorge
Hey there, George!
ReplyDelete...I knew you'd pipe up once I started disseminating my distorted understanding of your setup ;)
