The Davolisint

This image popped up on AH today. The synth in the center is the Davolisint. Title link takes you to a page dedicated to the synth with specs, samples and more shots. Anyone know what the synth below it is?

  2. Hi,

I was the one posting that pic on AH. I was initially told it's an Elka string-keyboard, however I'm not so sure about that because it doesn't remind me of any Elka keyboard I've seen from the late '70s (and I've seen quite a few different models).

I rather believe it's a GEM multi-instrument keyboard. Dunno what model though.

Fwiw, I've seen a concert pic from Aug 1979 with the French/Italian space-synth group Les Rockets where an (almost) identical keyboard can be seen on stage behind their synth-player Fabrice Quagliotti. The only difference as far as I can tell is that the latter one has orange switches instead of blue.

  3. Hi,
I used to own one of these. It's an Italian made monophonic synthesizer, 2 VCOs, no filters, no envelopes, although it has something reminiscent of portamento and vibrato. It's certainly no string machine... and no multi-instrument keyboard either. It makes nasal, rather obnoxious noises that may be suitable for leads or solos. The lack of filters etc makes its sounds somewhat limited, but in the right context I'm sure it could be useful.
