If you look closely you can see an SMS-2000 in the background of one of those pictures.
ReplyDeletei was just going to say, if the fabled SMS-2000 was to show up anyplace in real life, it would definitely be this place.
ReplyDeletegod. if i'm ever lucky enough to make it to tokyo someday, that's going to be my first stop. right from the airport, luggage and all. i'll just walk in and take up residence in that aisle that's all system 100m's.
What's the name of the store?
ReplyDeleteHave they a site?
(BTW The moog modular in the pic,is one of the only 3 systems made (re-build),my friend have one of them,it was a unit imported by BMI specialy for the frankfurth messe event in that period)It sounds like a real IIIC.
SOMAX
No answer on the tape delay? That thing is incredible looking. It's GBP660, but how awesome would it lookin your room?
ReplyDeletethey have a website?
ReplyDeleteYes, they have a website : http://www.fiveg.net/
ReplyDeleteA lot of nice stuff. Anyone notice the lack of filters on the Moog? I gotta say, despite all the fie vintage porn that Vermona stands out in a sort of new Disco way. I hope someone tells us who this place is.
ReplyDeleteI live in Tokyo and confirm that that place is a complete rip-off.

ReplyDeleteIt's a Phillips Tape Echo.
> It's a Phillips Tape Echo.
ReplyDeleteThanks. No info I could find on Google, though. Just 2 sparse Groups posts that don't get me anywhere. Neat, though.
If you look at the Moog closely, you'll partially see a filter on the bottom 3rd rack.
ReplyDelete>> It's a Phillips Tape Echo.
ReplyDelete>Thanks. No info I could find on Google, though...
Yeah, I couldn't find any info on it either. The guy who posted pics of this shop on VSE said what it was.
I'm fairly positive thats a Don Martin clone Moog Modular. The real Moog Music never used their "new" logo on any 901 oscillators that I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteHa, you can read some of the prices in those pics. $3580 for a Prophet 5? No thanks :D
ReplyDeleteI would be curious as to how much their Jupiters go for though.
> $3580 for a Prophet 5? No thanks :D
ReplyDeleteDoes nobody bat at eye at paying $3k plus for a Voyager?
I satnd corrected on the Mog filter, I actually didn't even notice there was a third row.
ReplyDeleteI think the Synthbaron is correct, the 901's shouldn't have that later logo.
As i told ,yes its a don Martin, and they are only 3 made (this came out the mouth from don martin, when my friend at that period have phone him to ask to buy more modules)
ReplyDeleteSOMAX
You didn't say Don Martin anywhere in your other post.
ReplyDeletethis place is amazing as a museum of gear porn, but unless you are on a major record company pay roll you can forget buying anything .
ReplyDeleteit is a complete rip off, and they drive all the auction prices up in japan on any piece of gear worth owning .
if you are a lottery winner you will love this place .
if you are a regular working human being you will hate this place .
by the way, its in harajuku . tucked away in a large office style building full of hilarious fashion shops .
its very near the station and is worth a visit, but youll need help to find it .
We would like to know if this store sendings towards Europe?
ReplyDeleteThank you with you for an answer!
I found thier website. You will need to check with them directly.
ReplyDeleteyou price complainers need to go out and get a job! ;)
ReplyDeleteI contacted them yesterday but without response for the moment. The emails must be only written in Japanese
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Five G website link - been wondering about this mythical place since the AH talk and a few mac.com hosted pics from a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeleteAll the PriceGripes(TM) aside, US$420 for the eternally underrated MonoPoly is quite good, and US$2,000 for a JP-8 is a fairly average 2006 price. Ugh, should've bought one when I had the chance. *walks over and kicks an M1 as hard as possible*
I'll be in Tokyo in October and will definitely check this place out. Can anyone recommend other shops which sell vintage synths and (more importantly) parts for my old Yamaha CS20M?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
