Turnkey Vintage Synthesizer Sale

Moog System 1 custom 55/35 modular 3C - £25,000

The ultimate modular synthesizer. Originally conceived by Dr Robert A. Moog in the mid sixties as a less bulky, more affordable alternative to the famous experimental RCA Mark 2 (which filled several rooms), it became the instrument that made synthesized music popular, especially thanks to Walter Carlos' album "Switched On Bach", a massive hit in 1968. Other artists, like Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze and Emerson, Lake & Palmer also explored the possibilities of the Moog in mainstream music and even used it for live performances. But the modular systems were generally too complex and expensive for most musicians, designed as they were for studio composition of electronic music, and Moog went on to produce more performance oriented instruments such as the brilliant Minimoog.

Roland System 100m - £3,999

A very well designed modular system aimed at musicians rather than schools or universities. A working configuration is possible with just two modules, making this system very accessible. Although some fixed connections are made internally in the modules (just like Roland's earlier system 700), the 100M is still a highly flexible instrument with a dynamic and powerful sound. Its appearance in 1981 coincided with the heyday of early synth pop, and it was widely used by groups such as The Human League and Visage. Today the modules are still relatively easy to find, and it is perhaps for that reason the only classic modular synthesizer still widely used among contemporary techno and dance artists.

This system is made up of multiple cabinets which in total consist of:
7 x System 100M 5 Module Chassis, housing:
8 x 112 Dual Oscillator Modules
4 x 121 Voltage Controlled Filter Modules
6 x 140 Twin ADSR and LFO Modules
7 x 130 Dual VCA Modules
3 x 132 Dual Mixer/Voltage Processor Modules
2 x 131 4 ch Output Mixer
2 x 150 Ring Mod/Noise Gen/S&H/LFO
1 x 174 Parametric EQ Module
1 x 165 Dual Portamento Module
(please note 2 of the chassis are 110v)

Roland System 700 Lab Series - £3,999

This was Roland's first venture into modular synths, and a very successful one too. The basic unit had internal connections for all the most common patches, but they could be overridden with external patch cords, so that the system became fully modular. A complete 1976 System 700 was quite an impressive beast with a total of six boxes featuring banks of oscillators, filters and a very comprehensive analog sequencer. The System 700 has its own highly distinctive character as it features a different filter design from Roland's later System 100M, and sounds quite beautiful, more fragile perhaps, than the beefy American modulars.

# 3 x 702A VCO
# 708A Noise Generator/Ring Modulator
# 703D VCF
# 704D VCA
# 716A Mixer
# 706A LFO
# 709A Sample & Hold
# 705A Dual Envelope Generator
# 716A Power

Relax man. Turnkey has a history for over pricing their stuff. This is just another example.
