Oh for fuck's sake people, these are MSRP prices, not the prices that you will be paying. The Q+ has/had an MSRP of $4500, and I got mine new for $2700.

If the Blofeld is a Micro Q in a box, why is it more expensive? There must be something else in the Blofeld. Anybody know or want to guess?

ReplyDelete$3000 would still cause my wife to send me to a 12-step gear lust recovery program, but not before having my balls hung from a flagpole. Waldorf really needs to think little phatty here, but not via the recycling of a 10 year old product. Come on guys...think of the children!
ReplyDeleteThe Zarenbourg price was the biggest shocker to me. Even if it was $1k less than that MSRP, you could still get a real Rhodes and not a huge physical modeling synth. I think they'll have to make it an affordable alternative to a Rhodes to sell any.

We have Moog with Voyager that retails for $3000 and they have little phatty that retails for $1200.
Then we have the new Waldorf Stuff. Well, here we go they actually have the Blofeld (think Little Phatty) for $600 (selling price not MSRP) and the Stromberg for $3000.
Seems like they DID do pretty much what Moog did...
over reacting? maybe 3K is a drop in the bucket for you mr. big shot, but for some of us thats a big chunk of change
ReplyDeleteI dont see how a $3000 (probably even lower) pricetag suddenly evokes memories of the Neuron. It's like you're hoping Waldorf will fail again, just because you cant afford their flagship product.

And yes, I would say "are you fucking kidding me??" and "can anyone say 'Neuron'" qualifies as overreacting when dealing with a ballpark MSRP (not even a MAP price) for a product which isnt even close to production.

lets just hope they put out a cheaper rackmount version.
ReplyDeleteNote waldorf "was" a public traded stock before they went out of biz
and they and access were both inbed with gsf inc. all of these things had an impact on them going away .
