"The Oscar-Winning Score of STAR WARS is performed on a Moog Synthesizer by the Electric Moog Orchestra. I've often wondered what the music of Star Wars would sound like played on a Moog and I was not disappointed by this LP."

"Imperial Attack' performed by The Electric Moog Orchestra, 1977. I inserted an existing flipped video clip from my camera, a little shaky, but thought it might be (only slightly) more interesting than the LP cover. MOOG!"

I have this LP. Not as cool as you would expect.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree. I thought it would be so much more awesome than it is, considering my twin loves of Star Wars and Moogs, and I bought it the second I found it only to be disappointed once I got it home. I believe these same guys did one for "Close Encounters" as well.
ReplyDeleteCantina Band is the standout track, for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt's too late in terms of Moog cash in records, there are so many that are either good or funny and a few that are both.
ReplyDeleteThere's also the Patrick Gleeson Star Wars album if you want to hear E-mu Modular as well as Tomita's Disco inspired version on Moog Modular and other Moog, Roland and Mellotron gear.
ReplyDeleteI was so mad the day I got home and realized I had spent all my paper route money on THIS. I didn't realize it wasn't the original soundtrack! I couldn't help myself, I found it used for $12 and ordered it. If for nothing else, I'll rip it to DVD and give it to some geek friends for Christmas.
