  1. Do all brits pronounce it that way? Definitely leaves a Safeway style shortening based icing on this cake. How embarassing for them!

  2. Ummm...did they get Dave's permission to use his videos like that?

  6. The above list is where it's at... The Sonic State series is a joke!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yep. Sonic State doesn't know a damn thing about synths or synth history.

  8. Thanks Ethan. I put up a new post with the list. BTW, did you actually type all of that out? If you did, WOW! and... THANK YOU!

    : )

As for Sonic State I see the list more as the Top 20 Most Influential Synths according to their impact on the industry when they were released.

  9. The list was based on our votes though.

  10. I was curious about the permissions myself..

but bah! plastic keyboards from a country where toilet bowl cameras are commonplace will allways be my number one!

  11. "The list was based on our votes though."

I suspect the vote thing was a bit of a lark, and that list was mostly decided by the Sonic State folk, perhaps with occasional guidance from votes.

If you listen to the Sonic State weekly podcasts (very entertaining, BTW) you get a very definite sense that the Sonic State folk favour the session man/touring musician vibe, of which most of these synths have in spades.

  12. Yes, all the participants gave permission including Dave and the Keyboard Wizard...And most of the keyboards mentioned in the list here above appeared at some stage in the programme.
