Bristol Synthesiser Emulations on Linux

You might recognize Bristol from this previous post. That post took you to what looked like a Soureforge sub page. The title link to this post will take you directly to the Bristol page.

BTW, if anyone knows what these sound like, please comment.

  1. I've tried over and over to phrase this in a diplomatic way, but words fail me... in short, I'm very disapointed with the sound of this app.

  2. I use Linux and I couldn't really get any the synths to work. The Vox organ module sounded good, but then my horrible soundcard decided I couldn't use MIDI and audio at the same time.

Most linux audio software is pretty terrible (linear volume envelopes and stuff)

Even after configuring my soundcard, sometimes Linux won't admit its configured or even installed.

Not quite ready for the general desktop. *sigh*

  4. Tried these a month or two ago, and can't claim to have been surprised: your basic digital substractive stuff of at most average quality..

But well, the annoying thing was that I had lots of trouble getting the GUIs actually control the synths, some of them would not work at all, some would crash when trying to change presets or tweak something, and well...

After about 15 minutes of trying to get something interesting out of those, I just switched back to ZynAddSubFX and forgot..
