actually there is a sampled cat on a dsp chip in every Metasonix box, the tubes are there for cosmetic reasons only , how Eric Barbour gets cats to sound that way in front of a microphone for the sample is a trade secret
and it's a lot of fun to use that way - but truth be told, mostly this rig gets driven by a FR Mobius sequencer. That setup on it's own, while limited in many ways (not least the lack of a proper envelope generator) is actually of all sorts of really fun and spontaneous synthy goodness, both clean(ish) and really nasty and dirty

A cat could still fit in that SKB case if it were all minced. Maybe stored in zip-lock bags.
you could pour a cat slurry into the grooves between modules, or maybe sprinkle some grated cat in there
