EMS DK1 Cricklewood Keyboard

Title link takes you to shots via this auction.

"The Cricklewood is a Velocity sensitive "Dynamic" monophonic Keyboard for use with the Synthi VCS3. Cricklewood has 1 VCO and 1 VCA, and the VCO can be used as a mod source or a second voice making the synth Duophonic. This example is really in amazing shape for almost being 40 years old! as you can see in the pictures, there are some very minor wood scuffs. Playing wise this keyboard practically feels new! absolutely no clickity clack that can be felt on keyboards of this type that have worn brushings. includes 8 way cinch-jones cable for connection to Synthi."

  1. Cool, that's the kind of keyboard in my Ionic Performer. I never knew until now where that keyboard came from.

    Coolies.

  2. HA ha! I have one of those but no Synthi. One day I'll have a Synthi. As my good friend always reminds me, "you bought the helmet before the motorcycle!"

  3. Its funny. I know a lot of people who have cricklewoods, yet none of them have a Putney.

  4. Lol i'd rather modify a putney with cv/gate ins and outs with the regular 1 volt/otave standard instead.

  5. although, the DK1 is not just a controller, it adds an extra VCO to the EMS gear, making them duophonic...

Kenton sells a nice CV/gate cord for connection to a 1 volt/octave standard..

  6. Good that it's sold.
Duophonic is nice but you still got 1 trapezoid :)

My Putney got a kind of printer connector on the back witch goesd to all patchpoints. All the vco's are now controllable by that connector at 1 volt/octave and the still the inputs are usable. I did a lot of mods to my vcs3 and my technican will have a nice custom rack unit for it soon with an extra lfo multiples, sammple and hold etc. i will let matrix put up a post soon when i got pictures etc.
