Gear Addict Clothing - Synth Ts

via Jordan:
"I've always had a hard time finding cool t shirts and stuff to wear so I went on some forums and started talking to people-- and found out that people have a hard time finding cool gear too. I hate all the generic t's I see in trendy stores...so we started brainstorming, put together some ideas, and i made some designs.

Our designs range from microphones and recording related, to analog gear, vintage and modular synths, theremins and other fun stuff. I am constantly talking to people in the community on forums and making new designs. We are a small community so why not help each other out.

I figure Matrixsynth would be a great place to get ideas and suggestions from people, as well as great exposure for the kinds of people we are trying to design shirts and other accessories for. Above sales is the community-- we design shirts by and for our small little niche, and would like to try to extend out to more people."

If you have any ideas feel free to comment or shoot Jordan an email at gearaddict at gmail.com.

  2. Dear Ghostdog,

I would definitely make one, BUT, there is always the copywrite issue... I can't do anything that would break the law, which is why any of the familiar looking things in the designs don't have any names and are changed a little :)

If you have any other ideas I would gladly make up a design-- as long as we can't get sued for it! Enjoy!

  5. Thanks for the reminder ghostdog. I need to start up my Matrixsynth Ts again. I had them a while back but the green did not look that vibrant then, so I killed them. After seeing this, I'll start them up again soon.

  6. I know that on the dark t's, there are some color variations. I've seen the purple modular synth design and its not as bright as I designed it and would like it. It still looks good though. Im going to purchase the same design on a light (white) and other colored shirt to see if it makes a difference. If i changed the printing method to the gloss it might make it more vibrant too-- but i like the direct printing because it last much much longer and than the gloss and is much more comfortable

  8. Thanks for the photo.. I will make up a design real quick-- if i pressed the shirt myself and could do it for free, i would, but i cant...im a poor poor gearhead... I had money, last week...but then i started building a tube based theremin and have been working a FREE internship all summer!

  9. Thanks jordan. I think I'm going to try the gloss then. I remember the images for the Matrixsynth Ts looked as vibrant as the green in your shot of the mic, but when it arrived it was way off. I only offered black Ts and their process was in Beta when I tried. In the first run of Ts the green was kind of a darkish green - not vibrant at all. In the second run it was teal. Actually here's what they looked like:

    one
    two

I need to order another one and see.

  10. hopefully cafepress has worked things out.. I haven't had any complaints from purchases yet-- the second I do, I will let you guys know and post something. I am going to try and buy a few of my own shirts to see what happends with different color combinations and if its just on black or both black and white ts... Cafepress does offer refunds though, so at least returns arent a big deal... none of my customers have complained yet, so hopefully they fixed the kinks and the color variations isnt toooo far off...

  13. Stock photos are copy written and logos are generally protected under copyright or trademark. So unless you have written consent you are still breaking the law.

Also I’ve purchased shirts from cafepress in the past and they were terrible. They are just heat transferred images and they faded fast and turned odd colors and then the lines from the image that looked like it was cut out by a child before heating it showed up very strongly and basically destroyed them. It looked like i just made home made iron-on’s and did a terrible job of it. I will never buy from them again.

  14. you have different printing methods-- i chose NOT to do the heat transfer method and to do DIRECT PRINTING, which is actually surprisingly good! From what i've seen, and feedback ive gotten so far from customers, the direct printing is great.

I am ordering a few shirts to test things out soon, so if anything is a little weird, colors that are just totally off, ill make adjustments.

That being said, ive sold a bunch of shirts so far, and not 1 has been returned.

Maybe there is a big difference between the heat transfer printing method and the direct printing? I've never done the hear transfer method so I really have no idea....

  16. I've bought some cool shirts over Threadless.com. There's always some techy stuff. Printing is tons better than Cafe Press.

  17. A few quick updates-
I cant express my thanks to matrix synth, we have generated a lot of hits and potential customers from here, and we appreciate it so much.

We have also gotten emails from users with design ideas, which is just awesome! We worked on a new design for someone and it was just put up today.

Thanks again to everyone, I hope you enjoy your shirts and even if you didnt buy something, we appreciate you checking us out!

Send in those design ideas! :)

    Jordan
