Suzanne Ciani on YouTube

Looks like Suzanne Ciani has a YouTube account. The following are some vids she posted. Note some of the equipment (notably the rack with vocoder) is the same as what she had in this Letterman appearance. Click here for all Suzanne Ciani posts on Matrixsynth. The following are a bit long. If you do not make it through them, do check out the last two videos, one of her recording a bit for a GE commercial and a more recent video of what she is doing now.

  2. There's a gorgeous lonely Buchla 200 in the background and all you can think about is some girl? Boy, you must have your priorities screwed up.

  4. I spotted the MC-8 as well.

Between the Letterman and 3-2-1 contact videos, I'm pretty sure Suzanne Ciani is the Carl Sagan of synthesizers. She's engaging without talking down to the audience.

  6. I like her earlier work a lot, but her recent work is uninspiring to me.

Her piano playing doesn't move me. Sounds very 'General Midi'.

  8. she seems like a wonderful person....however , i find her music to be very "yanni -like"

  9. Her voice is very nice in small doses.

It's like a creepy nurse talking to someone who is about to die.

It also reminds me of people who like Atlantis, dolphins, ear-candles, pyramids, and colonics all at the same time.

  11. I think ol doc future like a litte more man in his girls voices. Perhaps that explains the cynthia fetish.

  12. The audio engineer featured in a couple of the videos is Leslie Mona. She mixed a few commercial scores I did in the early 1990's. Really excellent ears & a warm person.

Never forget that people in Ms. Ciani's position had lots of behind the scenes folks who worked very, very hard. A good publicist never hurts either.

  13. yes you'll have to pardon me as i'm far more captivated by her musical and humanly beauty than i am by whatever tools she's using.

on the other hand, if someone can tell me what Buchla 100-series modules were in Robert Mason's "DIY Funk Synth of Mass Combobulation" then i'm up for a technical conversation. the mystery of the Stardrive and what happened to the man and the machine has always interested me more than who exactly stole her Buchla from the elevator.

i always got the feeling that miss ciani had some sort of psychic link to her buchlas which really transcends any sort of text-explorable context.
