J.U.M.S. RMI Harmonic Synthesizer

"The RMI Harmonic Synthesizer is really rare on this planet. There are only 4 known RMI's in Europe!

So I decided build one myself, both IRL and digitally. One would excpect that, since the RMI has digital oscillators, it would be easy to create one digitally... WRONG! The real RMI oscillators can go beyond our audible range. Just because we can't hear such high frequencies doesn't mean we don't need it. Instead a really high sample rate is needed to get near. And all that because the unaudible sounds interfere with the audible sound :) Also the dynamic filter on the real RMI is really special. Unfortunately that is not easily emulated..."

  1. Mmm... so why brag about creating a software clone of something rare, and then refuse to release it, instead only giving a couple of mp3s (mistakenly labelled as mpeg3) and a supposed screenshot. I mean unless I'm missing something, come on, nobody's gonna know if such a software even exists, or if it's just a mockup and a couple of samples of the realthing.. or what?

No, I don't really care, and I didn't even bother listening to the samples, and I hope no serious offence or anything, but this whole thing strikes me as kinda stupid. :)

  2. "Hey, look, I know about a rare peace of hardware, I will make a software version of it, but I will not share it with you or sell it!"

    How childish....

  3. Thats ok, I wrote a track while looking at the screenshot, I won't let him hear it!

  5. I think its really rude to make something and put up a webpage for others to see and then not make that thing available. the whole point of putting something on the web is to show it to the world, this is like "hey check out what I got that you dont"

  6. and on the topic of "all copy protection can be cracked" so what.. you still would make money and sell some of them.

  7. If every developer in the world would say "every copy protection can e cracked, so I will not sell it nor give it away for free" there would be no software any more in the world and we would be using typewriters and pocket calculators again.

What a retarded guy - well, he had his 15 minutes of fame (on Matrixsynth) - can we remove that post and link now to make space for real interesting people and things?!

  9. first of all, I think it's a reaktor or synthedit patch, if anything. Second, I agree with everyone that this guy's logic is totally tweaked. What the hell.

So, if this is a reaktor or synthedit patch, fine. But why not give it away?

Or, if this is a real creation from scratch NOT to be distributed in any way, someone has way too much time on their hands!

  10. Listened to the samples... it might've helped if he wasn't playing such cheesey shite with it, but putting that asid: color me unimpressed.

If he did take the time to write all that code, then I have to say that it doesn't sound like it was worth it.

  12. "I think it's a reaktor or synthedit patch, if anything"
    on what basis?

"Or, if this is a real creation from scratch NOT to be distributed in any way, someone has way too much time on their hands!"
WTF. so something isn't worth doing unless you let other people have it. doesn't follow, sorry.

so part of the sentence " I made it purely for myself." is so difficult to understand?

  13. >> on what basis?

    This

    >> WTF. so something isn't worth doing unless you let other people have it. doesn't follow, sorry.

It takes a LOT of time to write software. This should translate to $ or public service. Otherwise, no need to talk about it on the web.

    >>so part of the sentence " I made it purely for myself." is so difficult to understand?

    In this context, yes.

    doesn't follow sorry.

if your just pissed off cos he's not giving it to u for nothing / $$ just say so. don't try to rationalise it.

  16. ROFLMAO, I know this guy from a way long time back. One of the too obsessed Jean Michel Jarre fans, looking to brag about shit he and Jarre have and noone else does. This whole post stinks of way too much cockiness. If you only made it for yourself, keep it for yourself and don't offend other people through self-glorification!

Jammer Johan... maar ze hebben wel gelijk!
