Waldorf Q+ in Sub Zero

Remember this post on the Q+ sequencer demo? Well, that's the Q+. That's Dmitry's friend Jason of "Scenic Square." The fog isn't smoke, but humidity on the lens of the camera, formed on the drive over in -6 degrees F. Well, I guess the Q+ itself wasn't actually in in Sub Zero temperatures. Or was it?... Either way, cool shot.

Circuit Bent Casio SK-1

Thought this one looked particularly nice. No title link, just the shot and details pulled via this auction.

Details:
This auction is for a heavily modified Casio SK-1 keyboard. This keyboard has skyrocketed in popularity in recent years due to how well it lends itself to circuit bending. Some might say the SK-1 is almost considered a staple in any benders collection. I originally purchased and modified this board to use myself, but have recently grown more interested in building synths from the ground up, so I am selling this instrument to raise some money for more projects.

If you are familiar with circuit bending, you are probably familiar with the SK-1. This keyboard contains the following modifications:

-18 toggle switches to control bends (contains most "standard" bends, you know, the "tablebeast" and "ghazala" bends)
-3 knobs (one controls pitch, two control bends)
-1/4" Audio out jack (for simpler compatibility with standard pro audio gear)
-DB-25 connector for external patch bay (connect to patch bay such as those from highlyliquid.com, or if your soldering skills are up to snuff, create your own unique controller)
-MIDI IN kit from highlyliquid.com (control the SK-1 from your computer or other MIDI controller)
-Fresh coat of glossy red paint (looks great next to your Nord Lead, and don't worry, none of the original control legend is painted over.)

SK-1's with MIDI capability don't seem to come up for sale too often, so if you're in the market for a new instrument to add some character to your MIDI studio, this may be the thing for you.

One last thing, if you follow the whole circuit bending "scene", you're probably familiar with the sound these things can make, but here's a quick sample for you. (it's just the sk-1 recorded and sequenced with MIDI thru cubase LE)"

Circuit Parade

via Joe of Circuit Parade:

"Circuit Parade is playing on Wednesday night at the Luna Lounge in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Analog content: I'll be playing my PolyEvolver Keyboard, and Leon Dewan will be playing his home-made analog synthesizers: the Swarmatron (pictured) and the Melody Gin (for more info, check out Dewanatron.com). The band also features woodwinds by Mike McGinnis (The Four Bags) & cello by Julia Kent (Antony & The Johnsons). Incidentally, I've been enjoying the PEK immensely, and it plays an important role in this new "band".

Actually, I put together the whole night, and the other bands are very cool as well.

Info:
Unicornicopia 8 PM (Natalie Weiss' one woman set, with tape loops & samples, somehow melodic & noisy at the same time). Click on the link for a nice vocoder & ARP 2600 track that I produced.

Circuit Parade 9 PM (My band, don't have any mp3s yet)

Spray Paint Star 10 PM (My good friend Julian Maile's new band--features a Juno-60 and SixTrak)

Padre Pio 11 PM

Novation Nova Demo

YouTube via thealien666.
"Factory demo of the Novation Nova Analog Modelling Synth module. There are no samples in this one, it's all DSP analog emulation. What you hear is straight from the box.
Sound was converted to mono by YouTube's re-encoding into flash format.
6 parts multi-timbral, 16 voices, 3 oscillators, analog modeling. Same as the bigger Supernova but with a 42 band vocoder added. These little blue boxes are inexpensive today. They were produced by Novation from 1999-2000 only. They are cheaper (in price only!) than the comparable Roland JP8080 but they include more voices, more oscillators, more vocoder bands, better display, and better effects, and more modulation sources and destinations."

Klaus Schulze KORG PS-3300

Title link takes you to shots pulled via this auction.

Details:
"Greetings. Well what can I say. You are looking at one of the rarest synthesizers on the planet. A korg PS 3300 prototype owned by the legendary Klaus Schulze of Tangerine Dream. But sadly it does not work so I am selling it as a non working unit. This would be the ultimate restoration project for somebody with technical know-how and time. Not only is this synth mega mega rare but it has a historic valve as well. If this synth could talk it would have many stories to tell. This synth would have been on many world tours with klaus. The synth does power up with lights flashing and blinking. The main control boards seem to work. With a service, 2 out of the 3 blocks will be functional. There are 4 voice boards missing but the can be easily copied with all IC's still available (see photos).

As you can see by the photos, It has seen better days. So you may ask why am I selling such a rare and historic beast? I am getting out of the synth collecting game due to changes in life. I have changed my mind about 3000 times on whether to sell or not. This korg has no serial numbers and even has a spelling mistakes ("modifires", instead of modifiers) (see photo). All the PS 3300's made after this one has a darker face with MS 20 knobs. This PS has a light grey face with very early Maxikorg knobs. Believe me this is a upmost regrettable sale!!! So my loss is definitely your gain. So how did this synth end up in Australia? Klaus sent this synth along some minimoogs to an artist by the name of Mark Sakautzky in south australia many many years ago when digital came onto the scene. It was then purchased by David James a collector in sydney about ten years ago. Then I purchased it about 4 years ago when Dave James sold his collection. My intention was restore it. I am hoping that this synth will go to a good home that is why I am willing to pay half the shipping costs worldwide."

Note the typos for the word "Modifiers" spelled "Modifires" via Matt and Aeonian on the AH list.
