Yamaha FX-1

Click here for shots pulled via this auction.

Update: Previous FX-1 posts. Definitely check out this one.

Details:
"This is a super rare Yamaha FX-1 electone organ piano key board synthesizer SN 1134 Wow I have one! not many made and not many left i was told less the 15 in the US and no more the 20 in the world cost over $45,000 in 1983 i also have the TX-1 amplifier tone cabinet the serial 1666 which is included and the pedals
The Yamaha FX-1 isn't really an organ, but, in this case, a group of polyphonic digital synthesizers, based on Yamaha's DX FM synth technology. Various level and balance controls are operated by sliders, and the sliders are automated, so that when a preset is recalled, the sliders actually moved to the preset positions"

Freezepop Forever

YouTube via usamablackbelt. What's interesting about this one is it actually names the Yamaha QY70 in it. It got me wondering how many other songs mention a synth. If you know of any feel free to share.

Update: Here's another video by Freezepop that features the QY70 and I'm guessing a KORG MicroKORG: Freezepop - Parlez-vous Freezepop?

New Synth Coming?

New From Cwejman

More details posted today via the thread previously posted here.

via Shawn of Analogue Haven:
"I expect Cwejman to show the following new gear:

19" rack with TR-100W transformer box
INS-2MX "Dual Insert Voltage Controlled Amplifier"
MX-4S "Four channel VC Stereo Mixer" (wow Smile )
NS-4 "Four Output VC noise generator"
RES-4 "Quad VC Resonator"
VCEQ-4 "4 band version of the VC parametric EQ"
VCA-4MX "Quad VC Amplifier"

He is also working on the following for the future (these probably
will not be at Musikmesse):
ATT-4 "Quad Attenuator"
Rev7 "VC Reverb processor"
MC-V8 "8-voice midi controller" for midi-cv/gate with dynamics

There are already data sheets for the prototypes (much like the manuals on each individual Cwejman module page at our site) but it is better to wait until Musikmesse so you can see the full details from the Superbooth. Then we will upload info and pricing to our site.

PS: as always, specifications are subject to change. These modules are not yet shipping and enhancements or modifications could be made.

Shawn"

The New MacBeth M5N

You can find more shots at the Analogue Haven forum and the MacBeth Studios Website.

The M5N is a white M5 plus more:
"There have been some refinements in this design of the M5N instrument including yet further tightening of the of the transistor based Envelope Generators- on the 'FAST' setting- the Attack/Decay/Release parameters have been shortened by some milliseconds to produce our 'snappiest' envelopes to date. On the contrary- the 'SLOW' setting has these same parameters generating constants of up 5 minutes in rise and fall times...great for slow evolving ambient movements...

Both Filters have been subject to far greater signal to noise ratios providing clean and equal outputs due to improved output stages using a combination of different parts...

Cosmetically- it's not just a new paint job- we have changed the slider caps from the mixer type to a more conventional synthesizer type...we listened to the comments on the Yahoo! group- thanks Yves!

Each Oscillator now has the 'hidden' preset calibration parameters available to the user- with the use of a small screwdriver- parameters such as tuning, waveshaping and range are now at the discretion of the player- not everybody wants oscillators rigidly in tune- and some may feel that they prefer a more vintage sound by affecting how the oscillators track in accordance with each other- subtly adjusting the oscillator tracking can provide the user with some very 'fat' bass end sounds- conversely - high end detuning can add some real sparkle to recordings! Any of the adjustments can be quickly and easily returned to the normal without fuss. Other functions also have this facility and this also means not having to send a unit back to be recalibrated...

Other features that have been included in the M5N are the facility to voltage control the dual LFOs with and external OV to +5V signal- great with an external function generator. Even some of the 'normalised' patching has changed too- VCF2 mixer is now mixed in to the VCF1 should the user desire- this is a favourite patch of mine- as is mixing the VCF2 mixer into the Ring Modulator- that's been done too..."

The M5N will be a limited run. Via Shawn of Analogue Haven and Boris.

Jones.com Guitar Synths

I ran into this site in the auction details of the previous post. Title link takes you there. When you get there be sure to scroll to the very bottom of the page and check out the "Demos" link. They are video demos and they do a good job of showcasing the guitar synths. I never realized the GR-700 was this big. The main page also lists some Roland GR-300 mods.
