Echigoya Music Online

Another synth shop in Japan via peterwendt in the comments of this post on FiveG. Click here for their vintage synths. Peter also listed RockOn as worth visiting, but I didn't see a vintage synth section online. If you find it, feel free to comment.

  3. Soundsubs... is it? And where is "here?" I can't think of anywhere in the US where I could walk into and have anywhere near the selection we see here... not even close, and certainly not in the condition. I guess I see the prices to be in line with such a thing.

Is there such a place in the US/UK/Europe?

  4. Soundsubs

Next time you see a complete Roland System 700 in the USA for $30k - don't complain. Oh, and try finding one.

Yes, Japan is expensive, there is supply v. demand, and the Japanese LOVE vintage synths. They are not just collectors, they are connoisseurs. They also pay for the expected PERFECT service.

On the "connoisseur" note, the MIDIMINI was still sold in Japan, new, for high prices.

Also, the Japanese do some things (like vintage synths) as an intense hobby or craft, rather than as a money-making business. They can keep and mantain a fantastic store even if nothing moves out the door. While I was there, Echigoya Music in Shibuya couldn't pay the rent, but they "bent over backwards" to be helpful.

  5. well, I've been there and I must say that I couldn't be happier buying my ms-20 there, it looks and sounds like it came out straight from the original box!

To reduce spam, comments for posts older than one week are not displayed until approved, usually same day. Do not insult people. For items for sale, do not ask if it is still available. Check the auction link and search for the item. Auctions are from various sellers and expire over time. Posts remain for the pics and historical purposes. This site is meant to be a daily snapshot of some of what was out there in the world of synths.
