I met him once, I found him really arrogant and patronising, Gerald Simpson (the guy who made 808 state great) on the other hand was very pleasant and modest, so were the other 2 guys.
ReplyDeleteApart from Newbuild and Pacific State (which were when Simpson was still present) everything 808 state did afterwards was a bit of a let down for me, apart from perhaps Cubik.
i couldn't wait for his performance opening for Autechre to end. what an absolute mess -- it sounded like lowest common denominator new age music.
