  1. If there's a synth that ever needed a sequel, it's this.

  2. recording a multithousand dollar synth with a cam and mic from the pawnshop should be forbidden by law.

  3. Array, have you ever played one? I had one for a while and I was NOT impressed. It's really similar to a V-synth, only ridiculously overpriced, and not as versatile. Coolest LOOKING synth in the world though IMO.

  4. Unfortunately I never had a chance to play one in person :( I really liked the demos that I've heard of it, and I love the concept of "resynthesis", but I wasn't too thrilled about the final execution of the produce. In general, I'm not a big fan of any standalone product which REQUIRES the use of a PC in conjunction with custom editing software to utilize essential sound design functionality. Especially if said product already consists of a PC, as in the case of the Neuron.

If the Neuron concept ever does make a come back, I would very much like to see it use an ARM, or even a passively cooled Intel, based CPU for building the "models", and then a dedicated DSP for actual sound generation. Of course, implementations like these aren't so easy with a company the size the Hartmann, but maybe someone else can pick up the torch.

  5. In other words...you want symbolic sound to make a hardware synth utilizing the Kyma sound engine.....Then maybe put a V-Synth type UI on that machine. I'd buy that!

  6. Something like that ;)

The Neuron VST looked sort of interesting...anyone get a chance to try that one?

  7. Apparently it was riddled with bugs that never got fixed, making it terribly unstable. It was also a MASSIVE drain on the CPU.

  8. I owned a neuron for a while, it was the first synth in YEARS to get my interest (and to date, also the last one).

I personally don't think this demo really does it any favours.

I made a track purely with the Neuron called 'Teleport', multi-tracked and mixed in ProTools (reverb is protools, everything else is Neuron).

I had to sell it due to financial reasons, if I had the money, I'd buy another tomorrow.
