First Peep: Little Phatty Arpeggiator

via Amos of Moog Music on the AH list:

"Today marks the first time a working Little Phatty OS2 Arpeggiator has been hooked up to MIDI sync.
I recorded the resulting session and wanted to share it with you all.

If you like 10-minute meandering monosynth tweak-fests, you're in for a treat.
You'll have to pardon my heavy-handed use of ping pong delay; I love that stuff.

Have a good weekend,

Cwejman CRV-24

"The CRV-24 is a four band crossover with 24 dB/octave for all slopes. Crossover frequencies can be controlled manually and by attenuable CV signals.

The incomming signal INPUT is splitted in four bands; LP (low pass filter), MID1 (high/low pass), MID2 (high/low pass) and HP (high pass filter).

It's an ideal module combined with other modules when the audio frequencies can be splitted in four frequency bands.

An example; a 'Spectral Delay' with splitted audio bands for one of each delay lines inserted to the DEL-4 audio inputs."

Modular Drum Frac (in progress)

"'Rugged' looking Modular drum frac as of March 29, 2008. From left: Modified PAiA Power Supply, Coron DS7 Clone, Thomas Henry UD-1. CGS Dual Chime, Thomas Henry ADV Snare, some mults/attenuators. Plan to change out the mult/atten. for Blacet Quad Mix VCA and also plan on adding a dedicated kick to the right ear.

TR-606 with internal shuffle

YouTube via Acidcoder
"This is a prototype of a modified 606 with a shuffle function. The amount can be controlled with a potentiometer. The shuffle function works with internal tempo and din sync. The circuit is also a midi 2 dinsync converter. It will also work with a TB-303 and a TR-808 (to be tested)."

Improvisation on Space music style - Better Audio Quality

YouTube via gabriellehto. via RetroSound.
"I played this impro using (very easy) harmonies that I like a lot. The images from the universe, actually the universe itself always inspire me a lot. I used basically 4 synths; mainly; the old friend M1, controlling the Microkorg; MicroX for complement to the M1 sound and for effects like the MS 2000, that makes an AKS role. Tks in advance for your comment, Gabriel"

Oxygene Part II Cover

YouTube via rfoshaug. KORG Radias.
"Jean Michel Jarre's Oxygene Part II played by me and viewed from a first-person perspective.

My previous Oxygene Part II video was removed by Francis Dreyfus due to a copyright claim, but this music belongs to Jean Michel Jarre, and he has given fans permission to play his music as long as we credit him for composing it.

So here it is, version 2 of my cover of Oxygene II. I've got a new webcam, with a higher framerate and wider field of view than what I've used in my previous videos. Enjoy. :-)"

Yamaha SY-2 Analog Synthesizer

YouTube via stephenteller
"Some vintage tones from the Yamaha SY-2. This synth features the same filter as the legendary GX-1 which was the pre-cursor to the mighty CS-80. You'll hear the similarity instantly. This keyboard also features aftertouch."

New Serge Track via cebec

via cebec:
"I've put up a huge number of improvs and experiments with my Serge from the last 6 months. Some of them may be familiar but those have been 're-mastered'.

This collection spans the range from harsh noise to drone with some Kompakt-style minimal techno included. It's essentially a journal of my experience of getting to grips with this instrument and exploring my musical sensibilities. This six panel Serge is the centerpiece of my studio along with Max/MSP and I'm looking forward to the journey ahead. I intend to continue updating this page or others like it as I progress."

Rheem Kee Bass

images via this auction

"The tone has so much muscle that with external effects you can achieve some very cool sounds. Its a mono-keyboard, which means you can only play one note at a time.. but it would be extremely muddy if you could play more than one. Just have to remember to tune before every performance, and to take it in every once in a while to make sure all the notes are in tune with each other. Sounds awesome overdriven through a loud and shitty bass amp. In its purist form it mimics the low-end of an organ but with less warbling or reediness. Also good for a very full 60's bass sound or something to hold down the low end in a buzzy synth band.

CONTROLS:
The bass boost lever boosts the bass (there's not much to it without the lever all the way up). The TONE switch chooses either a low fat bass or a brighter version. The difference is not immediately apparent unless you also have on the next switch... FUZZ which turns the tone nasty. MODE acts as a kind of attack envelope; SUSTAIN has a relatively short attack but still soft, while PERCUSSION creates a light percussive "pop" at the beginning of the note...very subtle but adds punch. DECAY set to "slow" will let the note fall away a bit after you take your finger off the key, while "fast" means the sound stops as soon as you lift up on the back, there are metal knobs to adjust FINE TUNING and LEVEL." Acidcode Tweakbox

"The Acidcode Tweakbox is a new 2008 Synth DIY Project by the authors of the ML-303 BassLine: Please note: the picture shows the ML-303 V6, not the new Tweakbox. While the ML-303 has an analog audiopath the Tweakbox is now fully digital. That makes it very easy to solder and build. There are no SMD-Parts used. If you want to get informed as soon as the Tweakbox will be released just register with your eMail address in the Forum." Click here for more info. via sequencer.de.

Oberheim OB-X

images via this auction

"The Oberheim OB-X is an analog polyphonic synthesizer. It was the first Oberheim synthesizer that was created with internal prewired modules and not with the bulky SEM modules. Because of this, it was more functional for live performance, not to mention more portable. It was introduced in 1979 and was discontinued in 1981. It came in four, six, and eight-voice models.

This is the eight-voice version, actually SO OLD our resident synth guy who looked inside it said it's made by putting modules from two four-voice versions together. That's why we think this one is an earlier one. Also note the slightly different graphics (OB-X logo on the lower right above the keys, instead of the top left).

Besides the generous polyphony, each OB-X came with a memory capable of holding 32 user-programmable presets, along with polyphonic portamento, and polyphonic sample and hold. The OB-X was in direct competition with the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5. Capable of lush analog synth sounds comparable to the Sequential Prophet 5 but at a reasonable price. The OB-X also gives you Polymod functionality, something that the OB-Xa and OB-8 do not have."

Roland PG-300

via this auction
"Also known as the Juno/MKS-50 programmer. The Roland Alpha Juno 1 and 2 synthesizers were released in the mid 80's to widespread popular acclaim. The MKS-50 is the rack-mount version. These synths sound incredible. But......Roland made PROGRAMMING these synths OPTIONAL. They designed the PG-300 as an optional programmer allowing full, real-time control and editing of all of the parameters of the synthesizer (with real sliders and switches for every function) And what control it is... There are 25 sliders and 11 switches. Very kewl for real-time control. Thru MIDI Exclusive messages, the programmer does its magic, while sitting ON TOP of the Juno Synthesizer (or free-standing, in the case of controlling the MKS-50)."
