"demo of unique pro modified oberheim sem with sub-oscillators and double-sub-oscillators. :-) SEM is being driven externally via a separate (not pictured un-modified Roland TB-303, the one above is a devilfish. :-)

Each SEM VCO has an added mixer section with separate volume pots for simultaneously available sawtooth, square, sub-oscillator, and double sub-oscillator waveforms!

Each mixer section per VCO has an on/off switch with bright blue LED to signify the circuitry is on/active."

Custom Silver Nord Lead 1

images via this auction
"i'm selling my nord lead 1 synth and donating the proceeds to charity. my dad has cancer and my grandmother died of it so i'm donating the money from this auction to the american cancer society. i've had this synth now for 8 years and it's been through some amazing times with me. 1 of the photos above is from a splashdown performance at the lilith fair and another is from the last splashdown performance in rochester ny. i've used this synth on tons of recordings from splashdown to freezepop to symbion project. i'm leaving all my presets in it for you to use and you'll probably recognize many from splashdown recordings. it's not red like most nord synths since i covered most of it (top and sides) with silver sticker paper, and i spraypainted the knobs silver. you can see which knobs got the most wear from the silver wearing off. it has a memory expansion card in it as well so there's plenty of room for presets. the synth is pretty worn on the outside, but works just fine, all the knobs, keys, and leds work and it'll treat you nicely. as a bonus, i'm including an unopened copy of splashdown's 5 song ep "redshift" , an autographed copy of the most recent symbion project album, and a signed limited edition copy of the latest freezepop cd fx3p."

Integrated Circuits for EDP Wasp Synth - Complete Set

via this auction
"You're looking at a complete, new set of integrated circuits which will enable the life of your EDP Wasp to be sustained well into the future. This comprises 47 parts in all, including all of the digital and analog devices, power regulator, and amp IC. Some of these ICs, in particular the CA3080's, 4006 and 40174 are now obsolete and becoming increasingly difficult to source within the UK. Alternatively you could just add a few resistors, capacitors, pots, and make your own Wasp from scratch. Simple!"

MOTM-101 Sample & Hold

via this auction

"Nice featred Sample and Hold with adjustable slew limiting on the output. Innternal or external clock. CV Hold or 'Track' feature. White, Pink, and Slow noise sources with individual outs. Plus a bonus interesting vibrato trigger."

Siel Orchestra

images via this auction

"Great old string machine with additional piano, brass & woodwind sounds. EXACTLY THE SAME MACHINE AS THE ARP QUARTET (which were made by Siel for Arp from memory?). The synth. dates back to the late seventies but is in great working order and very nice condition considering it’s age.

The strings and piano are the best sounds. Strings are reminiscent of the Solina with the divide down circuitry adding to it’s great character. The piano reminds me of the old Crumar Roadrunner."

Ensoniq ESQ-1

images via this auction
"The Ensoniq ESQ-1 is an 8-voice polyphonic synthesiser with 3 digitally sampled oscillators per voice but couples them with a real analogue filter. It features 3 LFOs, which can be freely assigned to a variety of parameters and 4 digital envelope generators, which can also be assigned to many parameters. Although it isn't bristling with knobs, navigation of the ESQ-1 quickly becomes intuitive as each parameter is never more than two or three button presses away, thanks to the generous LED display and surrounding buttons.

It boasts a velocity-sensitive keyboard, to allow a modicum of expression to your sounds. It's great for analogue sounds, but is also capable of biting digital sounds - bells and DX7-type sounds are possible.

A handy built-in sequencer allows for patterns and songs to be recorded, making it an ideal tool for sketching out ideas."

Beatesthesia Custom Visulizer

Beatesthesia Custom Visulizer from olly gore on Vimeo.
"Beatesthesia is a highly customizable WYSIWYG music visualizer. Inspired in motive and design by synesthesia.

Synesthesia has inspired many works of art. Art that is meant to evoke synesthetic associations in a non-synesthetic audience has been dubbed synesthetic. Most artists synced sound and light in their performances to achieve this goal. Their efforts were deemed arbitrary because the all relied upon one set schema for an entire audience. If it is at all possible to evoke synesthetic reactions each experience should be fine tuned to a single person.

Beatesthesia allows the user to design their own music visualization. The WYSIWYG editor allows you to easily add audio reactive graphics to either Kick Snare or Hat beats. When a beat is detected the graphical event programmed is then fired.

The interface its self is audio reactive. This increases the speed of the feedback loop. You know exactly what beat you are adding to because you can see it flashing. Beatesthesia allows anyone to create their own music visualization. There is no prior knowledge of audio manipulation or video software needed. Beatesthesia is equally capable of competing with live visual software, the VJ version features a dual display set up for live performance. You can share you creations with others, using the copy paste code system.

DESIGN, EXPERIENCE, SHARE
Beatesthesia was built entirely using Processing.

Rick van der Linden - GX1

"today I found a very nice and rare synthesizer LP at a local flea market: Rick van der Linden - GX1. As the name suggest, the whole record is done with the Yamaha GX1 synthesizer.

It is dated 1977.

Mr Clacks Synthesizer extravaganza

via Mr Clack

"Baby baby ive been busy,

Here is 3 synthesizers I Finally got round to putting together in the last 3 months. I put them in my fine art degree show so I got to get some good snaps of them.

left to right [top to bottom here]

Dual MFOS Soundlab and Keyboard
with S+H and Drum trigger
the mixers can take all 4 of the available oscillators

ASM-2 semi-modular
without patching the left side is 2 saws to state variable then vca
right 2 squares to LP moog then VCA

CLONE MODULAR

Built to act like a traditional subtractive modular. stupidly dense ( it needs to be due to lack of bedroom space ) trying to fit a sort of bank of well know filters thats , polivoks, steiner, arp, moog, korg ms20, korg resonator, ems, wasp etc - 6 YU vco's and some unusual modules like fritz chaos , tube vca, S+H/T+H, attenuverter, Noise cornicopia . with a little vca bank, it should be possible to get about 5 voices going at once. the mixers are not yet on it ( they go in the 1 u strips ) . 2xfritz AR 2xMFOS AR 1xYUADSR 1xMFOS ADSR - the mfos AR has repeat so it should double up as a sort of trapezoid LFO. It should be possible when its complete to do some FM experiments too

at the moment they only just work, but in a few months they should be all operating and then eventually in years! I should have them finished!

I screen printed and designed the panels and cases " You can find them on this electro-music.com thread

Improved oscillator

"The Rougue is good for minor modifications. There is two VCOs, but the control is quite limited. The modification over here adds following features: Two dials at right side controls the PW of oscillator 1 and 2. Dial at left controls the PWM from the LFO. Switch at the middle selects the waveform for osc1 and the original switch at right is for osc 2."

"The P6 was enhanced with the improved mod-section. Three switches at left selects the MOD target, VCO, VCF or VCA. Next three selects different waveforms (saw, sqr, s/h) and sources (LFO, PWM-LFO of arpeggio clock)."

Bananalogue VCS diy board set available

via Bananalogue on this electro-music.com thread:

"Hi folks! I've decided to offer a VERY limited number (15) of Bananalogue VCS PCB sets to the synth DIY community. The set is four boards, three for components and pcb mount hardware with a fourth optional bridge board (you could opt to use fly wires if you want to play with different panel designs). Please note the following caveats BEFORE ordering from me:

1. these are an early revision of the Bananalogue VCS and the PCBs don't have any spare room vertically to squeeze into a frac/euro rack. we redesigned after this revision to allow more room between the rack rails - so please consider that.

2. i will not be offering ANY support or documentation for these PCBs, we simply don't have the time, so not a good project for beginners!

3. the PCBs have all the component values and placement silkscreened on them. if you have successfully built one of Ken Stone's CGS boards you should be familiar with this system. if you have NOT built a CGS board i would STRONGLY discourage you from starting here.

so, if you are still bold enough - email me with your shipping address and i will send you my paypal account. sets are $40 each, and shipping should be about $3 USA, $6 overseas

and they are a very pretty red"
