Malekko Sequencer Demo 3
"Malekko Sequencer Random controls"

via Josh Holly:
"Here are some videos of the new Malekko sequencer. The first one is a little long and boring but two and three get into some features that have never been offered in a sequencer before.

This is a joint effort between Malekko and John Loffink from http://www.microtonal-synthesis.com [and Wavemakers].

The sequencer features:
24 presets,
CV gate
as many as 24 steps per sequence
quantizer with multiple scales
variable random note step and note length
tap tempo and tap rhythm
variable slide per step
its a small and very powerful sequencer, it's one of those things that 2 hours have passed while you're messing with it.
this is the prototype, the production model will have a 2 digit display for keeping track of what sequence you're on. and will have graphics.

Sequential Circuits Prophet-600

images via this auction
"This is the legendary Sequential Circuits Prophet 600, the first synthesizer to incorporate MIDI control. This one is marked with the serial number 049, which I was told by Wine Country SCI makes it one of the first fifty ever made. The chips and sound banks in these first generation synths actually differ from the second and third generation Prophets, which may be desirable for those trying for a different sound." Anyone know more about this statement?

Mellotron Mk.II Part 2

More Mellotron Mk.II goodness via Brian Kehew of The Moog Cookbook.

If you haven't yet, see this prior post for more including a great story.

Update: Shaft added above and some info via Brian Kehew:
"So - those three tracks are the last ones of the quick demos I did before a wedding. They were done with the Mk.II (pronounced "mark two") seen here; I played a live rhythm track and then one melody track after. No punch-in's or fixes - it was just a demo for fun. Shown in the other pic is Markus Resch of the Mellotron company. He's been very helpful, working with me to rebuild this machine and load new tapes (not done yet at the time of the recordings).

I'll attach another photo of the Mk.II that I play at home (in the living room, as they were intended!) which is the nicest of the three, in original brown wood finish. I also have this white Mk.II machine which is almost done being rebuilt - a long, long process.

These are (by far) my favorite instrument in the world. Incredible idea, it's a wonder they ever worked well at all, and what a history! They failed in their intended use (home entertainment) to become one of THE defining instruments of a style of music that wasn't even born yet... There is a Chamberlin and Mellotron documentary that is supposedly almost done, it should make a nice film when it comes out.

Thanks -
Brian Kehew" You can find more images here.

G-media VSM - Virtual String Machine (with minimoogV)

YouTube via LF0
"This is a short (because my cpu can't handle a lot of shit going while the screen is recording) burst with the G-media VSM, with the Minimoog doing the sequence in the back. Yes the video goes out of sync the video and audio are separate so compression is different. I will upload a solo track with the g-media when I get round to it."

Treating a drumkit through the Moogerfooger filter

YouTube via RothHandle
"Yetsreday I continued working on the Krysztof Antkowiak song 10. And the first thing I started messing with was the acoustic drums.

So I pulled out my old MOogerfooger Low pass filter and treated them through that for some added mellowness...

This film was shot at my studio, Roth Händle in Stockholm. If you like the studio and want to find out more...please visit www.roth-handle.nu"
