"Check out my other music at http://www.myspace.com/eptmusic .

This is a track written entirely on a pair of Korg Electribes (ESX-1 and EMX-1). If you have any questions about the music or the machines, I'd be happy to answer them.

Sorry about the video quality, I found the camera in a ditch."

Garfield Doctor Click

via PrimateSynthesis who has it listed on electro-music.com for sale.

"The Doctor Click can be driven by both steady and wildly varying sources, including click tracks, tape codes (Roland, Oberheim, Linn, etc.), synthesizer clocks, live drumming, or its own internal crystal-based clock. It does not have MIDI.

The outputs consist of nine timebases (7 are fixed, two are variable), two rhythmically triggered envelopes or LFO's (12V, .5V), trigger, trigger to click converter, inverter, delay, start, and step programming functions.

The Doctor Click click has two separate channels for producing the two variable timebases each with its own set of rhythm selector switches. The first row of labels is the timebase interpretation (ie. how many clicks) and the second row is notation interpretation (eg. quarter note, eighth-note triplet, etc). While that might sound confusing, it should make sense when it's sitting in front of you. Channel 1 (four bars to 64th triplet) has Envelope 1, Gate, Time Lag, and the Auto Programmer. Channel 2 (1/4 note to 32nd note) has Envelope 2 and the headphone output (which can also be used as a second arpeggiator clock).

With its extensive masking features, it can be synced to audio such as drum loops or drum machines without clock outputs.

It also has recording and programming features (which I've never used) that can store up to 1,000 events.

The gates and triggers have adjustable pulse width, and can inverted for either falling or rising edge. The envelope outputs can be used as gates or additional clocks.

Inputs: Pulse, Tape Code A/B, Tape Code C, External Metronome Trigger, Inverter In, Delay In, Reset, Play, Enter

Outputs: 12X (Roland CR68/78, SCI), 24X (MemoryMoog, MXR), 48X (LinnDrum, Roland MC-4, E-Mu), 64X (PPG), 96X (Oberheim DSX, DMX, DX), 348X (Fairlight), DIN Sync (Roland x0xbox, Korg), Gate (5V/15V), Trigger (5v/15V), Trigger to Click, Time Lag, Envelope 1, Envelope 2, Headphone, Metronome, Inverter Out, Delay Out, 5V Start, Ground Start

Knobs: Channel 1 (PW, Attack, Decay, Amount, Gate PW), Channel 2 (PW, Attack, Decay, Amount, Headphone Level), Metronome Level, Delay Amount"

Synths Demo

YouTube via oxygene65
"Quick improvised demonstration of various synths in action. As usual I've gone for a Tangerine Dream / Film Soundtrack type of feel. This time, for better sound quality, I've recorded the audio thru the desk into wavelab, and tried to sync up this audio track with the video. It does go slightly out of sync. The equipment used were a Yamaha AN1x, Roland JP8000, Korg MS2000, Elka Synthex, Yamaha SY55, Roland XV5080 and Roland JV1080."

acid jam - machinedrum + mpc4000 + alpha juno + futureretro

YouTube via radambe
"4am acid synthesis jam
finally got a few things hooked up nicely.
gear used = elektron machinedrum sps-1 (non-UW) Mk2, FutureRetro Revolution on the 303 bassline, roland mks-50 alpha juno rack, waldorf microwave2, akai mpc4000 for sequencing the mks and waldorf. When i turn to my left I'm leaning over to grab the sliders and knobs on a novation remote zero sl which is being used to control the mks-50. It was fairly easy to get that thing programmed for sysex control of the mks. The only thing I don't like is the steppyness of the filter sweep(s) which is caused by the lack of midi resolution. This is easily confirmable when you route the mks's lfo to sweep the filter and it's perfectly smooth. I'm wishing the mks was easily moddable with some cv inputs. Most people seem to not think very much of the alpha junos. I feel quite the opposite. The mks speaks to me."

Bucket! (composed by Jimmy Smith) - Nord C1

YouTube via rounder2u
"Here is my version of Jimmy Smith's 'Bucket'.
I've tried to stay close to the original recording.
The organ is a Clavia Nord C1 - a Hammond B-3 clonewheel organ.
---
Nord C1 Registrations and Settings:
Upper 88 8000 000. Chorus C3. Perc on, soft, fast, third.
Lower 88 8000 000, not used.
Bass lower man. 80.
Leslie in stop position.
Equalizer not used.
Overdrive not used.
Reverb hall, soft, 35-40%.
Tonewheel mode Vintage 2 (high level of tonewheel crosstalk and cable leakage artefacts).
The sound is recorded line out from the organ. No additional effects, amplifiers or speakers are used.
---
Jimmy Smith's original recording of 'Bucket' was made 1963.
---
I have also uploaded the original recording from 1963 for anyone interested. To find it, just search for 'Jimmy Smith Bucket', or click 'More from: Rounder2u' at the right side of the screen."

TB-303 Reference in Ghost in the Shell

via GlassX

"Here's a screenshot from an episode of Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex (the anime series, no the movie) with a nod to the legendary TB-303!!!

I find it really cool! There's probaby a synth fan like us on the series production ;D
More info."

Note: also see Iron Man. I created a comics label for these. Yes Ghost in the Shell is manga and anime, but I'm not going to make people click on different labels for these. If anyone remembers any prior posts I put up or other examples, feel free to comment below or send them in.

Guitar synth jam - roland gr 9 synthesizers.com

YouTube via angelometz
"The guitar drives the synthesizers. Sweet!"

Workspace and Environment: Ignatius

You can find the full interview on trash_audio.

"What are your current favorite pieces of hardware?
I've been pretty hooked on the elektron monomachine for a couple years now. it integrates with other hardware really well and is just so easy to get around and fun to jam with. once you spend some time with it you can get some great sounds out of it. i'm really getting into the MPC 1000 w/JJOS2 lately though. i've never had an mpc so it's a nice change from other ways of working. it's easy to get around on but has some nice features for processing/shaping and getting expressive results. plus it's small and stable and gets me away from the computer more. it's hard to say what a favorite piece of hardware is. usually it's whatever is in front of me but i do gravitate towards the elektrons + the modcan and the waldorf microwave XT though the evolver is always surprising and perhaps the best bang for the buck in a synth ever."
