Hollow Sun Novachord Sample Library

Rod Mitchell wrote in to let me know Hollow Sun has a trailer up featuring audio from the Novachord. You can check it out here. Hollowsun of course specializes in sample libraries, so we are looking at a Novachord sample coming soon. The MP3 of the trailer can be found here. Be sure to see the Novachord label below for more posts.

  1. It's an incredible sound. Tube oscillators DO sound very different. And there is a natural chorusing these do due to variations on components and values. I wonder how much the library will catch that - if they did individual note samples of each tone, it will. I found one at a thrift store - it never worked, but was SO beautiful, so I let some friends buy it to restore. Some people have restored them - endless hours of work.

  2. With only a few handfuls of these left, It is encouraging to know that they are getting a second chance. Years back I remember seeing Phil's restoration, and I was hooked from that moment on. I might just have to look into this set!

  3. The plan as I heard it was to sample every three notes for several seconds to let it breath. Hollow Sun does top notch stuff. Steve Howell likes to focus on having the feel of the actual instrument in front of you. All of his sounds for the Alesis Fusion are awesome.

It is the closest I will ever get to one and I can't wait.

  5. I really hope the programming is done thoughtfully with some nice Kontakt scripting. Though, I will be happy no matter what this set ends up being like. :-)

  6. In some cases we sampling -every- note. I am really quite excited about this sample collection - the results so far are extremely promising. I am very happy to be working with Steve on this one - he has quite a reputation. Having put over 200 hours of work into restoration to date, I could never part with this amazing beast. To capture her unique signature sound is a very rare opportunity indeed.
