Learning the Diabolical Devices SK-1

YouTube via bigcitymusic

"This little gem has a sixteen point patch bay, built in oscillator and LFO, MIDI input by Highly Liquid, and various bends. You remember the SK-1. Record your voice into in. Play it back. Play it back in rhythm with the demo. This bent version can mangle your samples, the built in sounds and drumbeats and drone you to sleep. We're still learning!"

Cwejman RES-4 Quad Resonator Module

YouTube via bigcitymusic
"Here's the Jomox 888 into the Cwejman VC-FCS stereo compressor and on into the RES-4. The Res-4 is made up of four analog resonant band pass filters. Each one has control for frequency, resonance level, and volume.
The filters are triggered by the audio signal. The more you turn the resonance up the longer it rings out. Make kick drums. Use it as a multiple band sound shaper. Use it to make really awesome sounding steel drum mutations while sequencing the pitch via CV. There's a master CV and each individual filter has a frequency, level and bandwidth CV in. Yep. It pretty rad."

Blacet TM2050 Time Machine

via this auction

"Blacet TM2050 Time Machine analog delay module in MOTM format. This is a module for an analog modular synthesizer, does not come with an enclosure or power supply - if you don't know what this is, don't bid on it. This is a very rare module - Blacet only produced a few of these in MOTM format for a short time. This one was built from a kit by me, although I had some trouble with one of the chips and sent it back to blacet to get it fixed, and it was calibrated there, so it's as close to factory made as you can get. It works perfectly 100%, and comes with all the original documentation. It does not come with a power connector - these are readily available from Blacet.com or synthtech.com. From the old Blacet web page for these -

I'm Possessed

YouTube via Gregsynth
"This song was written almost entirely on the Roland XP-10 synthesizer and mixed into GarageBand using various effects:

-Chorus
-Sequencer/Arpeggiator
-Pitch Bends (ending)

"I'm possessed" was written in early 2007 and is a fusion of New Wave, Experimental, and Funk music.

The Wall Of Synths

YouTube via Gregsynth
"Hola Youtubers!

The past 2 videos I have uploaded (Percussion Power and I'm Possessed) were kind of a blast from the past. I wrote those two songs in 2005 and 2007 respectively. I hope you have enjoyed them.

Now, this song is more recent: "The Wall Of Synths" was written in early 2008 with a synthesizer that most electronic musicians are familiar with and that I'm quite familiar with-an Oberheim! Only this time--it's not the 1980s analog synthesizer--but the Oberheim OP-X. (The virtual Oberheim).

Like my song "Industrial City," this song experiments with sound effects. Instead of city sounds, these are thunderstorm sounds.

Please enjoy!

Dynacord ADD ONE + ADD DRIVE Drum Sampler

via this auction. via the forum.

"This is probably the best drum sampler ever made. Sample rates at 12 bits * 50Khz with independent filters for each sample ( the same as Sequential Circuits Studio 440 ).
It has internal re-trigger and re-sequencing ( so you can trigger the whole machine with just one hit ) and numerous modulation possibilities.

The ADD ONE unit has 8 channels who can be used to trigger any sound from the sound bank and the ADD DRIVE adds sampler capability to it, so you can use any sound you wish.
8 Independent outputs + Stereo out + Mono out, and midi I/O/T
It also has 8 trigger inputs + hihat (open/close) which allows you to connect it directly to any digital drums or any trigger.

The sound on this thing is amazing, very powerful and "alive", it has that classic MPC-60 / Linn / DMX 12bit quality and punch but it sounds "better" somehow ( probably thanks to the very high sample frequency ) and the interface is very simple and intuitive."

"a demo of the Midibox Sequencer v3.4a, a DIY-project
includes my favorite features and cool new functions from v3.4
mainly, I did this because of the new MIDI Sync function, which enables me to move back and forth between tracks in the sequencer and Ableton Live on my laptop,
or jam both together, all in a continuous running groove

see ucapps.de and midibox.org for more info on the project

featured tracks:
Paragraphenreiter (in MBSeq)
Sunset Express (in Live 7)
Wohnwand 2 (in MBSeq)

machines used:
Sequencer: Midibox Seq V3.4 (DIY)
Drums: Novation DrumStation and Korg Electribe ER-1
Synth: Novation K-Station, DSI Evolver, Waldorf Microwave XT, Roland MKS-50, Clavia Nord MicroModular
Ableton Live 7 with Korg NanoKontrol"

Appendage as Keyboard Modulation Controller

YouTube via ScottStites
"The Appendage is patched as a keyboard modulation controller controlling three parameters from a single control surface: Filter cutoff, Triangle Vibrato at one frequency, and Pulse Vibrato at a higher frequency. The position of the initial pressure controls filter cutoff. Sliding up from the initial point of pressure introduces triangle vibrato. Sliding down from the initial point of pressure introduces pulse vibrato."

Workspace and Environment: Stretta on TRASH_AUDIO

"On Hardware and Software
There are few reasons for hardware outside of controllers anymore. All new advances in synthesis and sound processing will occur in software. That said, I haven't found anything in software that can replicate the experience of working with a hardware modular. I enjoy working with my hands and I find using a modular is, well... fun."

"I remember this German schlager from my childhood. Though not in the original version performed by Katja Ebstein. I know it as "En indianer fra Peru" which is the Danish title and it was performed by Birthe Kjær who is probably known primarily for "Vi maler byen rød" - the Danish song in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1989.
The melody is here played on the analog Technics organ while the background runs on a PC based sequencer.
And sorry about the pink hat.......I just had a really bad hair day..."

DiN32 - Shade by Parallel Worlds

"DiN32 - Shade by Parallel Worlds
Release date 23rd March 2009

Shade is the studio album follow-up to Obsessive Surrealism (DiN26 - 2007) and is the fifth CD release by Parallel Worlds (the main musical project of Greek electronic musician Bakis Sirros).

Parallel Worlds employ a vast arsenal of both vintage and modern analogue modular synthesisers with extensive use of classic sequencing techniques to produce a sonic world that combines modern electronica and ambient music styles with the feel of retro electronic music. His attention to detail is astonishing and his careful sculpting of sounds and textures produce an organic, ever evolving atmosphere full of half glimpsed meanings and subdued emotions. The purely electronic rhythms and beats seem to have a life of their own and showcase a musician who is a virtuoso with these types of instruments that are the antithesis of the quick fix pick-a-preset mind set of much of todays society. Musically he likes to explore various states of mind, no doubt influenced by his medical background and this adds a tension and darkness to his compositions that are punctuated by disarmingly simple and wistful melodies.

With Shade Parallel Worlds show a musical maturity and command of sonic atmospherics that takes the music on a journey, moving through dreams and shades, aiming for the light.
