Photon's Klee - Random, 8X2, Gate Bus 1 Load , Invert B Kwik-Vid

YouTube via ScottStites
"This is an extra Klee I have on loan from electro-music's Photon. It's a really nicely built and arranged Klee. I've got the hood popped so I can look at the guts (really nice wiring in this). This is a quick video of it controlling two VCOs with the A output while the filter is controlled from the A+B output. It's in 8X2 mode, random mode, with my Blacet Dark Star noise output driving the random input. I flip between Invert B On and Off, and Gate Bus 1 load on and off to vary things around."

"In general, had a rough time getting this recording to make it to YouTube...all kinds - capturing, editing, recording, corrupt files, etc etc. Guess I need to bring my software up-to-date. :/ I also had no idea the earlier version of this video made it online -- YouTube had reported that the upload failed with an unknown error, so I thought that was the end of the story. Eventually came across it on Matrixsynth blog, and I was totally surprised. :o

Forgot to hit record on the wav editor, too, so once again I ended up with camera audio. I tried to remove some of the camera whine and eq the audio a bit to make it sound as accurate as possible. Somewhere along the way, through all the formats and stuff that I put this footage through, it picked up crackles and pops. At this point I am throwing my hands up and uploading and moving on with my life!

Vermona Perfourmer, Vermona DRM1mkii. Sequenced in FL Studio, but really there's not much a of sequence - was focused on having fun tweaking. Sooner or later I will get a good track-length arrangement down, *and* manage to tweak on the fly... or I hope so anyway."

JEN SX1000 SYNTHETONE

via this auction

"The Synthetone SX-1000 is an old Italian basic mono-synth. It has a single analog DCO with three waveforms: sawtooth, square, and PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). There is an analog filter (12dB/octave) with cutoff, resonance, and LFO modulation. There is also a simple ADSR envelope for shaping your sounds. In addition there are also white/pink noise generators a glide effect and a vibrato effect. It's known for fairly stable tuning too.

The Jen SX1000 has got to be the most under-appreciated monosynth of the lot! Although it's very simple, it's capable of some really screaming lead sounds and some trully insane bass tones (particularly when PWM is used carefully). It's as solid as a rock and always works a charm, it also never goes out of tune (unlike a lot of it's bargain bin VCO-equipped rivals). And trust me, it sounds about as undigital as you could ever imagine!

The SX-1000 is a monophonic synthesizer with a 3-octave, 37-note, (C-C) keyboard and a black or white front panel (they came in two colors). Also called the "Synthetone", the SX-1000 features a single DCO (digitally controlled oscillator), with a four octave range (32', 16', 8', 4') and three available waveforms, sawtooth, square, and PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). White and pink noise are also available, as well as portamento/glide. The filter is 12dB/octave. There are two ADSR envelope generators and one LFO."

Peter Grogono's EMS Page and MUSYS

You'll find a great piece of EMS history an MUSYS here.
"I worked at Electronic Music Studios Ltd (EMS) in London, England from 1969 until 1973. (The web pages for EMS are now maintained by Graham Hinton.) My principal contribution to the studio was the MUSYS system for the composition and performance of electronic music. EMS was owned and controlled by Peter Zinovieff. David Cockerell built hardware for the studio and I wrote software. One of my rewards was to become an early owner of a VCS-3 (at left). I sold mine cheaply, not realizing that, after more than 30 years, VCS-3s would become valuable again."
