Modded Commodore 64 dubbed "C64 Vader" running Mssiah's Bassline app

YouTube via kilobyte242. via this auction
"custom paint, blue LED, recessed keyboard, SID2SID w/ 6581's, rca composite video, 1/4 inch audio out for each sid, innovative noise reduction mod, 4 pots"
via the seller. You can watch his listings here for more.
"i picked up about 10 c64's awhile ago and have been turing them into jam tools one by one, i relly dont need all of them so im selling off a few at very cheep starting bids on ebay. i know most people dont want to buy a finikey old computer just to hack it apart and risk its destruction, hopefully i can bring the awesomeness of mssiah to some good musicians :)
this c64 has a SID to SID with 2 6581 chips, new filter caps. direct pots. and some nice ergonomic and cosmetic mods. its set up perfectly as a jam tool for mssiah/prophet 64's drummer/bassline/monosynth apps."

"Yeah you heard right. This is a maual cut prophet 10. Only a handful of these beast exist. They were to un-sturdy and very fragile to be road worthy. It over heat more than the p10s and p5 rev 1-2s. All of them were ssm chip models."

OP-X PLAYER within Mac VFX

YouTube via virtualoberheim
"http://www.sonicprojects.ch

OP-X PLAYER, the cheap ($39) preset version of OP-X, played in realtime with no lateny on an intel mac within the new SM-Pro Audio VFX Application for mac (first public beta version). Note that the OP-X PLAYER is a windows vsti plugin!

The audio is routed via Cycling74 Soundflower to Apple Garage Band, where the audio stream is recorded and sent to the audio out, all without any noticeable latency!

The plugin could be installed without any problem using the integrated "Run VFX Plugin Insraller" provided in the VFX menu. The OP-X PLAYER is already adapted for VFX and V-Machine and needs no additional wizard file.

Note that you need an Intel Mac, PPC G4/G5 is not supported. Here's a short guide to try it out by yourself"

Kind of like the Oberheim OB-SX version of the OB-Xa.

Variation on Bach's Prelude No 1 for Modular Synthesizer

YouTube via justwaving
"Another tune just using sequencers, a Q119, Q960 and an M563. This is another one of my favourite Bach pieces (probably because its on of the few Bach pieces I can play!) It also uses the Analogue Solutions TR-808 and TR-909 drum machine clones, driven by the Superb Moonmodular M563."

606-prometheus-heliotrope

YouTube via bigcitymusic

"The Diabolical 606 is back again. This time it's being shaped and mangled by the SubDecay Prometheus pedal and the Catalinbread Heliotrope.

The Prometheus is an absolutely beautiful sounding envelope filter.(Maybe not in this instance). This is one of the cleanest, most pure sounding filters out there. Really! It has up and down envelope modes as well as a super hip LFO/sample & hold modulation option. There are high, band and low pass modes that can be swept with the frequency knob. You can turn down the envelope amount and use it as a fixed filter too!

Last in the chain is the Catalinbread Heliotrope. This is a super affordable, versatile and great sounding pedal. You can get bit-crushing, crazed ring modulator effects, a nice distortion via the "gain" knob, and there are two modes. "Hi" mode is a more subtle setting for sample rate reduction and bit depth. "Low" mode will turn your source sound into a groveling pile of sloshy bits and digital nastiness. We'll try and do some more refined videos with these pedals soon.

Thanks for watching!"

CES Analog Computer

via this auction

"Your looking at a analog computer by CES. This is a CES Ed-Lab 700, it has banana plug jacks, used a banana to 1/4 jack interface to use this with my modular. If you have Modcan, Cynthia, or Serge this thing is ready to rock.

This analog computer features a clock (with two 180 degree outputs) , inveters, boolean logic, flip flops, Threshold Logic, Comparator OP-Amp, , volatge meter, AND, NAND, NOR, Exclusive - OR, switches and LED displays. All the logic you will ever need for complex sequences, triggers, and noise generators."

MINI KORG 700 SYNTHESIZER

via this auction

"The unique sound of this synth will be familiar to fans of Reproduction and Travelogue era Human League also loved by The Cars, Kitaro and Vangelis. For such a small little synth it has a fantastic range of sounds, all with a classic 70's flavour. The depth and richness of tone cannot be emulated by modern virtual analogues like the MicroKorg. A funny little demo of the synth can be found on Youtube."

Roland RS-202

via this auction

note this is the one from this video.

"Roland RS 202 , string sound of the 70's The sound is warm and grainy and with a bit of external reverb you can really pull off a great synth string sound.

A great sounding analog string synth with an easy to use front control panel and containg the great roland ensemble sound used in so many roland synths of this era. Cosmetically this keyboard is ok , it has some chipped paint and scratches. Its in 100% working order and sounds great! I think it makes a great vintage analog gig instrument due to the fact of its heavy metal faceplate and being built into a flight case... a good article about the rs 202 from sound on sound"

Parallel Worlds "Shade"

A few new pics from Bakis of Parallel Worlds. Bakis has a new release out named "Shade". You can find more info on the release at DiN, the record label as well as Bakis' news page. You can find ordering details here. Some words on the production from Bakis: "almost no sampled percussion has been used in the whole "Shade" album. most of the percussion / drums and percussive loops have been synthesized in great detail, using the analogue modular walls. takes much time, but the results are worth it!"

BTW, you might also recognize the name Bakis from these posts. Bakis never fails to let us know when new Serge modules are announced. You will also find more images of his impressive studio, links to interviews, his music and more. He is the moderator of the Doepfer A100 list and was extensively involved with sound design for Analogue Systems. I have his CD, "Obsessive Realism" and it is excellent - brooding at times, angelic at others. It is filled with textures against analog percussive rhythms.

Update: album cover added to this post.

MeggySeq 1.0 Released

You can find the full details here

"MeggySeq is a step sequencer for the Meggy Jr. RGB from Evil Mad Science

MeggySeq does not make any noise itself! It sends values over a serial connection to another device. I have built it to talk to an Arduino with a Wave Shield attached

MeggySeq has 8 patterns of 16 steps each. You can set each of those steps to play one of 8 WAV files on the waveshield. You can play the pattern back, stop it playing, and change the tempo. You can copy patterns from one slot to another. You can even save all 8 patterns from RAM to EEPROM so they won't be lost when you turn off the Meggy Jr.

You can loop patterns into longer compositions (up to 8 patterns long) and edit the patterns and pattern parameters (like tempo, loop length, and pattern length) without stopping playback.

You can edit one pattern while another is playing, and if you change patterns during playback, the first pattern will finish playing before jumping to the newly-selected pattern (or the next pattern in the loop if you've turned on looping)."

Nord Modular G2X Part1

YouTube via Ema996Roma.
"Illustrazione di alcune funzioni del sintetizzatore modulare di casa Clavia"
The first sequence does sound like the original Nord Lead and Nord Modular. It's interesting because the Nord Lead 3 is a completely different sound engine. It sounds different than the original Nord Lead. The original Nord Modular is based on the same engine as the original Nord Lead. The G2 was supposed to be a new engine as well. I was always curious if it was based on the Nord Lead 3, or a third core engine. It's great to hear it covering the original Nord Lead sound. BTW, if anyone knows more about the different engines feel free to comment.

Update: remember you can get the free G2 soft synth from Clavia here. It's the editor but it is the same engine and will produce sound without the hardware. For realz... The limitations are minor (monophonic only) considering its a free full blown modular.
