Hamster plays Opal Sonome

YouTube via notepool2. follow-up to this post.

"Hamster Sammy enjoys improvising on an Opal Sonome. She gives herself a little wash and clean while holding down a minor 9th chord! The plastic sphere is her means of transport while chasing humans across the kitchen floor, her equivalent to a skateboard or bike!"

Telemark Machinedrum

YouTube via bigcitymusic
"Here's the incredible sounding Analogue Solutions semi-modular Telemark. It's based on the Oberheim SEM but it definitely has the signature ASol gnarly factor. The Telemark opens the SEMblance model to have patch points, allowing you to integrate it with other synth gear easily. You can process external sounds with the Telemark too. It has a great sounding filter with low, high and an extensive bandpass mode. For his demo we're using the low pass mode only. Sequencing and drum sounds courtesy of the Elektron Machinedrum. "

DAFT PUNK - ROBOT ROCK Performed on Casio SK-5

YouTube via drbenway
"HI!
This time I have extended the teoric limit of 2.80 seconds.
I sampled a speed up vesion of the original track and I played it on the low keys.
The sequencer close the sample loop.
The result is a pretty lo-fi sound.
ENJOY!"

NI Maschine vs MPC 3000 First Ecncounter

YouTube via massivebeatzz
"A first round of a little midnite jamming with NI's MASCHINE and AKAI's MPC 3000. I brought over the new tool to DJ Dave's toy room. Maschine's 1.03 version proved itself highly unstable in midi sync slave mode (basically impossible to tweak without breaking the time)- for now - so this first one was done manually. That, a wining neighour and a DJ Dave's wife Gritt urging him to come to bed and get ready for the next day were a few minor obstacles in exploring this more and deeper, for now.
Setup: AKAI + NI + Korg MICRO INTO DJ MIXER INTOP MAC Laptop Line IN (iMovie)"

Another modular drum machine

YouTube via Pehr81. click here and scroll for more.
"This is a similar patch, but with two VCAs. One with noise input and the other with oscillating bandpass with noise. The hihat sound reacts to the clock output and the drum to the gate output."

Yarosystems - Ghost Ship

"The studio version of my new track Ghost Ship. Recorded almost entirely with the Korg R3 synthesizer."

"there it is – my very defunct (and now repaired) roland tr 606 got a new makeover. this excellent work was done by customsynth.co.uk for a small fortune of money (but WELL worth it)."

Hexagonizing Synth Controller Demo: c-thru-music Axis 64

YouTube via hamsterdunce

"More music on umop.com!

Taken at Analog Heaven Northeast, May, 2009. The Axis 64 controller running through a gigantic MOTM modular synth. Hexagonal interface offers a whole new way of creating music, possibly more intuitive than regular black and white keys!"

Stamp: Vintage Keyboards

"Buy this Stamp at Zazzle.com!

Visit the Spirit Switchboard Gallery at Zazzle!"

Update via the world of next tuesday in the comments: "That's one of those print whatever you send them via the net for a premium on a third party label good for american postage type deals.

I'm sure it's real cute for wedding invitations I guess. If you have some extra small change and want one of these quasi stamp/labels you can send zazzle.com or whomever does that a picture of you and your tb-303.

The only actual synth I've seen on a genuine stamp is when the Japan Post Office did like 100 stamps honoring the 20th century back around 2000, one of them had an identifiable Jupiter 8."

And... I found it. [source]

An official Japanese Stamp with the Roland Jupiter-8 on it. Very cool.

PPG MODEL 1020 DIGITAL SYNTHESIZER

"PPG Sell Digital Synthesizer Model 1020th This model was the successor to the 1002nd The oscillators and modulation are digital. External control input is quantisierbar, to the best sequencer adapter. He has an additional stereo output, so there are two different effects simultaneously playable."

found and sent in via Earl.

Moog Voyager vs Studio Electronics SE-1X

"Moog Voyager vs Studio Electronics SE-1X. Well, maybe not quite "vs" like "Spy vs. Spy". Just another happy Friday side-by-side comparison: this time between these analog 3-oscillator monophonic synthesizers."

You can find the audio on cl516.

JH Living Vocoder

via JH:

"Just to let you all know ... I'm getting into "vocoder mood" again. :)

I thought about it a lot in the last few days. I think I will put the whole circuit onto one huge board, filling a 19" rackmount enclosure, like EMS did with the 2000 and 3000. The board will have a much higher component density than EMS, though, so you can expect something more complex than the EMS. Not more channels - but other goodies. :)

I think I'll be able to offer that PCB for EUR 150.00 + shipping if I get enough orders.

Oh yes, and I have a name for it too:

It will be the "Living Vocoder". :)

I try to include what I consider the best of Sennheiser, EMS, ETI and Roland. It probably owes the most to EMS, but it will in no way be a clone.

I have made some demos with a preliminary version I've built on veroboard many years ago. This is *not* from the upcoming "Living Vocoder", though:

http://www.jhaible.de/jh_freeze_ahh_1.mp3
http://www.jhaible.de/jh_throat_1.mp3
http://www.jhaible.de/jh_talking_synth.mp3

There will be Freeze, symmetric and assymmetric slew control (a la EMS), a multifilter function with filtered silence bridging (a la Sennheiser), a compander for high dynamic range (a la Roland Vocoder Plus), and the filters will most probably be calibrated bands al a ETI (which I like better than the uncalibrated EMS filters).
I also plan to make an interface for external patch storage and CV control. just the interface, not the storage.)"

Contact jhaible at debitel.net if interested. Let him know you saw it on MATRIXSYNTH.
