TOMITA STUDIO (in the late 1980s)

YouTube via synmusik. Don't miss this Tomita vid.
"There is an episode of having suddenly visited Tomita's house when Michael Jackson came to Japan. Both Synclavier is used. And, Tomita thought that he was interested about a state-of-the-art digital synthesizer. However, he was interested in Old Moog Synthesizer surprisingly, and he asked Tomita how to make the sound of the whistle of 'Snowflakes Are Dancing'."

"A very quick first look at Joshua Schnable's CTRL8 Powermate/PD control software. More detailed video, documentation, and downloads to come."
via chromedecay where you'll find more info.

via Joshua:
"I've been messing around a bit with the Griffin PowerMate knob and Pure Data (some of you know this already). Basically, the idea was to translate keystroke data from the PowerMate into useful MIDI control data. Using PureData allowed me to create a couple of instances of this where you can use the number keys on the keyboard to select different "banks" of MIDI data to send.

The files, instructions, and a quick video by Bill Van Loo can be found here"

New Gristleizer

via Smashing Guitars

"PREORDER NOW! LIMITED FIRST RUN OF 30 UNITS!
ACT FAST OR BE LAST!
Projected Ship Date: August 3rd, 2009

For the first time ever, Throbbing Gristle's legendary effects unit, The Gristleizer, is now available in stompbox form. Though the original design is over 30 years old, The Gristleizer had never seen commercial production until the summer of 2009, when Endangered Audio updated and improved the circuit. The pedal version, housed in a high-quality, heavy-duty Hammond 1590DD box, retains all the functionality of the tabletop design with the added convenience of footswitch operation. In essense, The Gristleizer is a synth module that works with any audio signal. The audio path is modulated by an LFO using four selectable waveforms (upslope, downslope, triangle, & square), functioning in one of two paths: VCA (voltage controlled amplifier) or VCF (voltage controlled filter). Ranging from light and sweet tremolo to extreme, raunchy ring mod, The Gristleizer is a 100% analog, hand-assembled unit built to last.

NOTE: YES WE DO SHIP INTERNATIONALLY/INTERGALACTICALLY

The Gristleizer Stompbox Features:
* Versatile Stompbox Operation
* LFO operated by four waveshapes (upslope, downslope, triangle, square)
* VCA/VCF Modes
* Ultra-wide speed sweep (almost 6 seconds per cycle at its slowest!)
* LED Tempo Indicator
* Front-Panel-Mounted Bias Knob
* True Bypass
* Can be used effectively with synthesizers, guitars, basses, vocals, drum machines, brass--you name it!
* 100% Analog Circuitry
* Built-in CV Mod Points
* Heavy Duty Housing"

Jörg Schaaf - "Stories" Live

YouTube via SCHAAFJOERG, the creator of the Spectralis.
"This is a live demonstration of Demosong 4 of the Spectralis 2. I deleted all Hybrid Synth Part motifs and played them live afterwards. You see the Spectralis in Pattern Jam mode. By selecting another pattern the Spectralis changes automaticly my live sound.
In the left monitor you can see Digital Performer running. I simply recorded directly from the Spectralis into a MotU interface for a better video sound quality. I hope you enjoy the track. Video: LUMIX FZ-28"

DIY Ringmodulator for Analog-Synth Demo (Multiplizierer) erster Test

YouTube via Redled72
Googlish translation from German:
"Since I have a not insignificant amount of multiply (CAN metal housings, 1978, made in USSR) in stock (150Stück) had offered to develop a ring modulator / multiplication formally. A beautiful vintage-pot, similar to the MC1495/1496. I voted for him or Ux Uy one Summierer + inv inv Buffervestärker gegönnt. This means, switch all signals invers / noninvers create. There can be three audio signals can be created. Asymmetry within the multiplying means may be settling trimmer. Resting potential for Ux adjustable via potentiometer. The current / voltage converter OPV can be calibrated by means of adjustable offset and is externally frequenzkompensiert. In conclusion follows an OPV to decoupling. Error below 1% This part works perfectly, excellent symmetry behavior. I'm very satisfied. Can also be used as analog computers. The finished synth 3-4 of them will get gifts. Here is a superficial test with only 2 VCO! I had just not feel like a third VCO additional wiring in the wild on the board trying to build, even if it is for real bell sounds absolutely necessary. Obviously the board is once again hand."

Casio CZ-1 Phase Distortion Synthesizer Preset Patch Demo

YouTube via zibbybone
"Just a basic demo of the factory sounds. Be sure to add &fmt=18 at end of URL for stereo sound since this synth features stereo chorus which I engage on a few sounds, but most are "dry". I use a Roland Fantom X6's arpeggiator via MIDI IN on a few sounds. At the end, I demonstrate the layering and split features. I filmed this video earlier this year, but it was too long for YouTube. Special thanks to my son, SuperSane101, for editing it down."

"Be my boogie woogie baby" - on ELKA X-1000

YouTube via organfairy
" I recall this melody from my tween years. The Danish guitar player Jørgen Ingmann made a cover version that was occasionally played on Danish radio (from where I taped it).
Later I heard it as a part of a Klaus Wunderlich medley.
But a couple of years ago I heard the original version by "Mr Walkie Talkie" on a German christmas TV special where a lot of music from the old "Musikladen" shows were played and I decided that it could be fun to make my own version of it on the Elka organ with a little help from the build-in sequencer."

Fairlight CMI series III

via this auction
"The system has the latest 9.34 software, has 16 voices, colour graphics card, digital sampler and 24 output router. It also comes with the later MFX alpha-numeric keyboard and mouse, and a 15” LCD screen is included (not the one shown in the pictures). Instead of the usual 14 Mbytes RAM memory fitted as standard from the factory, this unit has a brand new 32 Mbyte card, which is the maximum possible in these systems. There is no music keyboard, however any MIDI keyboard or external computer/sequencer will work brilliantly. There are 3 MIDI ports in, and 4 out.

The 4 Gbyte internal disc is full of the following libraries:
Complete Fairlight library, Prosonus Strings, Brass, Percussion, Sound
Genesis strings, plus many libraries collected over the last 20 years
dealing with top producers and musicians. These include libraries from: Pet
Shop Boys, Trevor Horn, Hans Zimmer, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Art of Noise and many, many others. The complete Fairlight IIX library is also included.

An external empty 4 Gbyte hard disc, with spare system softwares can also be supplied for a minimal additional cost.

The system will be serviced, have a full set of manuals, all leads, latest firmware, and come with 3 months warranty.

Please note you’ll see other Fairlight systems advertised, and many will less expensive. However, do some research before you buy. What may look like a bargain might not look so appealing when its obsolete parts finally give up. This applies specially to earlier systems. This system is complete, fully functional, and will work straight out of the box. I worked as product specialist and studio manager at Fairlight in Sydney during most of the 1980s, and have been involved in re-building Fairlight CMIs for over 25 years. I have sold and supported well over 30 of these classic samplers. If you are in any doubt, please type “Peter Wielk Fairlight” into the worlds favourite search engine and see what comes out."
