Digitana Micro Punk Robot synth module

YouTube via DigitanaUK
"The micro punk robot is stepped tone generator synth, designed for use with modular and other cv/gate equipment. Hand made in the UK in small batches and limited quantities to very high standards, this versatile little box is ideal for those that like experimental sounds, classic PWM type bass, retro arcade sound fx, glitchy static clicks, interesting synthestic percussion sounds, and much more.

I only cover a small selection of the possible sounds and use no external eq or fx units, of course when used with a modular system filtering, waveshaping, etc can lead to unexplored sonic territory, also the MPR can itself be used as a modulation source.

It has 2 CV inputs, 2 frequency controls, 2x 2 way range switches, a reset input which can be used as a gate or strange type of audio input, a power input which itself can be used with a CV signal for power starve and base pitch changing modulations, finally an audio output which can also be used as a kind of cv output.

NOTE The CV inputs are not anything like 1v per octave and are non linear, a rise in voltage causes the pitch to drop.

It comes with a 9v PP3 type battery connector and can also be used with a user supplied 9-12v power supply with a 3.5mm positive tip connector.

Priced at £65GBP plus shipping at cost to anywhere in the world.

We have many loyal customers in many countries, visit our website to join the mailing list for news, offers, availability and to buy Digitana products. All products are offered on a first come first served basis."

Teenage Engineering OP-1 Update

"Dear people around the world,

This is the first OP-1 beta update from TE HQ since we announced the Teenage Engineering OP-1 synthesizer.
The reason you got this email is that you are one of the 4.465 people who signed up for the beta release.

Recap
The day before we went to the Frankfurt Musikmesse, we put the OP site online. On March 30th, 10:06:22 we got the first sign-up. During the trade show we kept the sign-up's open until we finally closed the form at 08:34:59, April 05th.

We where quite overwhelmed by the numbers and very happy with the response we got from all of you out there. But you might ask, 100 beta units and this many people!? Am I gonna get one?

Beta info
The selection process will use different parameters to make sure we get a wide range of people and countries included.

It'll work like this.

- By date: The first x signup's (and the last one before we closed) will be safe.
- By country: we want to test the machine in different conditions.
- Random: x units will be completely randomized.
- Friends: Our closest ones, both musicians and freaks.

Release date
We will not announce any dates at this stage. Here is a quick status report:
- The Synth is really fun to use!
- It sounds great.
- We are hard at work with everything from the electronics and mechanics to embedded dev & DSP optimizations.
- Two new persons joined the team to speed things up.
- Check http://www.teenageengineering.com/now/ for the latest info!

We've got very far but will spend a couple of more months fine tuning and testing so we are 100% satisfied before we start talking about release dates.

Yours,
OP-1 Team"

multitouch midi control surface for reason

YouTube via visheshl
" multitouch table mtmini configured to be used as multitouch midi control surface with reason.
thanks to seth sandler for the awesome tutorial to build the mtmini.
visit www.sethsandler.com and nuigroup.com if u want to build one for yourself.

also thanks to mr greg kullum for the surface-editor application.

how it works?
its a simple box which has a webcam inside, the camera tracks the fingers touching the surface,
an application called 'community core vision' picks up the images and transforms them into tuio signals,
not the surface editor application takes these as input and moves whichever control is touched.
and then sends out the assigned midi message.
which is picked up by reason...and voila...a multitouch control surface.

my template can control
nn19,nnxt,subrtactor,thor,maelstrom--- mod envelopes,amp envelopes,filters,level,pan etc.
redrum levels, pan, and u can play drums on the surface.

im putting in more functions into it.
let me know if u need the reason-controlsurface file for surface-editor."

Original 1929 RCA THEREMIN

via this auction
"1929 RCA THEREMIN with RCA Speaker
One of 485 ever built, and experts estimate perhaps half of them still exist. To describe it as “RARE” is stating the obvious! Condition: Amazing for being 80 years old. The electronics appear to be all original with no obvious mods or repairs. The wood cabinet of the Theremin appears to be the original finish and displays well for its age, although one back door has some warping. The speaker has an obvious grill cloth issue, but cone seems okay. AC cord is brittle.

Provenance: I purchased it from its second owner in Indianapolis. He acquired it from the local original owner . . his neighbor and family friend. It road gently in my car to my home in Wichita.

AUCTION INCLUDES: RCA Theremin with both Antenna . . RCA Speaker Cabinet . . Theremin Stand . . and a box of spare tubes, from the original owner’s estate! Also – including a copy of a newspaper article about the original owner, original owner’s manual book. Also including the self teaching course book from Moog, along with the Analog Days book autographed by Dr. Bob Moog at the book’s release in LA a few years ago. Seems fitting to include it, based on his history and relationship with Theremin."

" Frostwave sending CV into the Flower Electronics LBB Double. Also has TSP Molester getting its filter altered by a cv signal. Bryan B's new Ulti Mult is in there as well, splitting the CV signal to all 4 Oscillators from the single cv output on the Frostwave. Fantastic box he's made!"

TSP Teaspoon and Junky Guitar part one

YouTube via thetonewrecker
"Plucking some plain guitar strings through the TSP Teaspoon for some random playback."

TSP Teaspoon as gate keeper = hang on

"I decided to try feeding the gate signal from the Acidlab Bassline to control the MC-202, but feed it through the Teaspoon. The CV control for the pitch passes directly, but now I can control the resampling/repeats of the 202 playing back the pitch it is following from the Acidlab. I really like how it grabs part of the trigger pulse and you get these strange clunky chugging retriggers. The 202 is not the best synth to trigger externally since the CV and gate go through the digital section before it hits the analog synth , but it was what I had on hand. More soon."

bugbrand modular guitar loop and playing along harmonica typ

YouTube via thetonewrecker
"The loop I playback from the computer was just an acoustic guitar I had plugged into the bugbrand modular before I grabbed the camera for this piece. Simple patch of the SYN2A osc into the LPG (which was getting the ENV1 to control the attack and decay from pressing on the touchpanels. 4 pitch settings running back over to the osc via the cv dial on one of the rows from the CTL1 panel. There was also a digital delay at the end in the PRC1 panel, but it was not getting any control voltages sent to it from the panel. Output signal was just going to this small (noisy) amp sitting on the top of the box off camera. No wild playing going on here..just a simple demonstration of playing along with another loop. I guess it ended up being a slight harmonica type tone."

Gristleizer Tabletop Unit Throbbing Gristle noise pedal

via this auction

"For the first time ever, Throbbing Gristle's legendary effects unit, The Gristleizer, is now available in its classic tabletop form. Though the original design is over 30 years old, The Gristleizer had never seen commercial production until the summer of 2009, when Endangered Audio updated and improved the circuit. The tabletop version is designed to sit within hand's-reach for easy parameter control, e.g. while playing synthesizers. In essense, The Gristleizer is a synth module that works with any audio signal. The audio path is modulated by an LFO using four selectable waveforms (upslope, downslope, triangle, & square), functioning in one of two paths: VCA (voltage controlled amplifier) or VCF (voltage controlled filter). Ranging from light and sweet tremolo to extreme, raunchy ring mod, The Gristleizer is a 100% analog, hand-assembled unit built to last. -I noticed the corner in the back is slightly bent, but that is the way it came out of the box to take the picture-"

micron, random, noise

micron, random, noise from 11hzRobot on Vimeo.

"I made a couple of patches that cause the micron to freeze up every time, to much modulation I think. After if freezes everything stops working; keyboard, knobs, buttons...except the volume knob, but the sound continues to play and evolve randomly. All sounds are from the micron, recorded with ableton live, post processing was limited to normalizing the stereo wav file and converting it to mp3."

"so I'm doing a run of these t-shirts

[kinda like the Roots shirt here]

If you think I've missed someone MAJOR let me know but Moog, Arp, Roland, Yamaha, Korg, EMS, Synton, PPG, Sequential / DSI, Oberheim, Roger Linn / Akai, Harald Bode are all represented here.

The ink will be a light ivory or possibly metallic foil [non rainbow, don't worry].. The shirts will be Black American Apparel Organic shirts [so you can use your existing AA shirt as a reference]

If you're interested, let me know and I will start to gather an order..

You can email your SHIRT ORDER TO
shirts at scale.gs

In the subject, write the following:
AH T-SHIRT ORDER

in the body write the following
[SIZE] / [MALE or FEMALE cut] / QUANTITY [x]

like this:
L / M / 2
S / F / 1

would equal
2 large male shirts
1 small female shirt

Prices will be $22 shipped within the 48 continental and approximately another $6 per shirt sent overseas.

Payment will be via Paypal only, and you will receive an invoice after you've submitted your order.

The whole process of placing your order, gathering the final count, sending invoices, receiving payment, sending the artwork, getting the shirts made [having a local t-shirt house do the actual screening], filling the envelopes, applying postage and getting them in the post will probably be 45-60 days. So if you're in a hurry, go solder your own. :)

Thanks,

"I haven't released anything a capella in over a decade. Solo multitrack a capella is one of those things you can't perform live, which is one reason why I believe recorded music and live music are separate art forms. However, the idea of performing a polyphonic a capella piece live is still an interesting challenge. Of course, one can use delays or looper hardware, but I've often found the results lacking interesting compositional structure.

The recent Imogen Heap on David Letterman video got me thinking about performing an a capella piece in conjunction with a monome. The goal was to use just the monome and a microphone. No other gear or touching a computer is allowed. Also, no sequencers running backing tracks. This is somewhat of a challenge.

I recorded this as a two camera shoot - a Canon 5DmkII with a lens baby pointed at my head... well... the mic, and another video camera pointed at the monome so you can see what my hands are doing."

An experimental theme

YouTube via attorks
"I have got to apologies for the camera position; I don't expect you are eager to see my hairy arms. But it was around midnight when I decided to make this clip and I also had to let the dog out before going to bed. So I had no second chance and just tried to capture the moment.
What you hear and see is basically some experimental music. Two 8 step sequences on the Doepfer MAQ16/3 are driving the self built Modular and the Creamware MiniMax ASB. Some strings from the Clavia Nord Lead 1 to get a layer; sometimes modulating the 2nd VCO's pitch to get some nice variation. And the odd bass from the Roland XP-80 to spice things up. Upon all that I am fiddling around with the Doepfer R2M Ribbon Controller which is connected with the CV outputs to the Synthesizers.com Modular. The resonance knob of the Q150 Transistor Ladder filter is on 10 and during the 'solo' I vary the frequency knob from 0 to around 5. I hope you like it."
