Update: synth list via Nina:
"the Rs-09 is on top of the Pro One. And on top of the Voyager is an SH-101. I have 3 drum machines with me.... BOSS DR-55, DR - 110 and Roland TR-808 of course..... three trigger outs.. total 5. Lots of CV fun going on." Also a Casio VL TONE in the video below.

"Along with the other half of Ronin (Carlo) carried the ENTIRE Synth Rig, all Drum machines... Everything you see.... Right on the plane with me.

We checked in NO Equipment.

We had to go through 5 security checks with ALL the gear and some how made it through.

From Miami To L.A and back. The Synths were strapped to our bodies and we had to explain to each guard what a Pro One was and that we are not electronic terrorists. We had some threats... almost turned back 3 times.

When we arrived in L.A. no one could believe we made it through."

"SHARDS" Live Granular Synthesis Experiment

"SHARDS" Live Granular Synthesis Experiment from Gattobus on Vimeo.

"Stereo headphones recommended.

The audio is sampled live from Nord Modular G2 audio inputs and reduced to bits, stretched, and compressed by a patch of my creation.
The button that I press on the modular is for capturing audio fragments.
The captured sound sources are the Nord Modular itself, Elektron Monomachine and the Elektron Machinedrum.
Nothing is pre-recorded, everything is sequenced LIVE and processed in real-time time.

---

WMD Geiger Counter as a Sound Source or Noise Generator

YouTube via telladictorian
"The WMD Geiger Counter is quickly becoming one of our favorite modules. It is useful not only as an audio destruction effects module, but as a Sound Source or Noise Generator. This quick and dirty video shows an example of this, by routing the Geiger Counter into a feedback loop with no external audio being processed. There are many different ways to achieve this, but the modules we used in this patch are:

WMD Geiger Counter
Model 9 Mixer Attenuator
MFB Dual LFO
Doepfer A-138 Linear Mixer"

DrumDrops: Drum Loop Samples before there were Samplers

Ad from 1978

"Before the idea of drum machines and sampling CDs came along, there had probably been a few attempts at providing a relatively low-tech/low-cost way to get some solid beats into the hands of musicians. The Powerhouse 8-Track Rhythm Unit was one that I blogged about recently, but DrumDrops was probably the lowest priced alternative to hiring a live drummer at the time. In 1978 a record album full of live drum tracks could be yours for a measly $9.95 US, the equivalent to $27.71 US today."

Sequential Circuits Prophet T8 Analog Synthesizer

via this auction

video below

"It has polyphonic aftertouch which allows you to be very expressive in your playing and apply aftertouch effects only to the notes that are engaged individually instead of having the aftertouch affect all the notes at once. Very few synths have this ability and this one not only has it, but it feels amazing to use and it's totally natural to learn to use the aftertouch."

"I'd like to make music free of the cliched compositional motifs I've picked up from years of listening to pop tunes in America. Still, I grew up in the 1980s, and the sonic qualities of electro/new wave/industrial are dear to me. The system in this video was built between 2007-09, using 1970's and 80's technology. Its analog sounds are controlled by digital algorithms that generate rhythm and melody. When playing it, my role is to set the tuning, sculpt the tones, and create flow by switching elements in and out of the mix."
