Hinton Instruments SwitchMix

via Hinton Instruments where you will find more info.

"A compact switched routing matrix for both audio and dc coupled control voltages. All the advantages of pin matrices without the problems.

SwitchMix may have balanced or unbalanced compatible inputs and outputs, extending its use beyond synthesizer patching to other audio routing applications including multitrack and effects routing and headphone mixes. The balanced inputs make it suitable for interfacing DAW sound cards into a synthesizer for Silent Way and Volta users.

Two Eurorack versions of the SMX8 are available, with or without front panel jacks. Rear connections are via DB25 sockets conforming to the Tascam balanced analogue pinout. The SMX8EJ (shown) has front panel 3.5mm unbalanced jacks for synthesizer connections and occupies 42HP of Eurorack space. The SMX8EB has balanced Bantam/TT jacks. Other combinations and custom normalling are possible.

We can custom build different sized SwitchMix systems with different features, but have engineered an 8×8 matrix to fit within the popular Eurorack format. Larger systems can be made in Eurocard Rack format, incorporating our Eurocard interfacing modules, or on custom 19″ or other sized panels. Prices start from £399, EC orders received before 1st January 2010 will be charged with 15% VAT (don’t forget it increases to 17.5% after that).

For further information or to discuss custom orders please contact us."

Ensoniq EPS 16 Plus - Sampled Drums

" For those who ever wondered what a vintage Ensoniq sampler suonds like. This will give you an idea of the sample quality of the EPS 16+. This track created in my Ensoniq EPS 16 Plus Sampler. Not the most popular of the Ensoniq samplers but it's my favorite none the less."

MetallicModular

YouTube via davidryle
"Synthesizers.com portable modular in auto-run. The Q960 Sequential Controller triggers five oscillators, three filters, four envelope generators, four amplifiers, one ring modulator, two mixers, one noise generator, one sample & hold and various timing and routing modules. The Yves Usson Gate Delay (STG Soundlabs) is used to bring in late triggers. The Pan/Fade module is fading between sounds with a sine wave from the sixth oscillator.
The recording quality is poor due to a straight microphone from the video camera. A Lexicon reverb and compressor are used to add depth."

4ms Atoner Module Sounds

YouTube via bigcitymusic
"The 4ms Atoner module is part processor, part generator. As a processor you can add a pseudo pulse width modulation effect to any source. It can also act as an analog pitch shifter, giving you one, two, sometimes three octaves down and some interesting partials in between . There's a simple filter (middle-left knob) that allows you to shape the tone even further.

The Atoner also has a cool sounding full-frequency range digital oscillator built in. It doesn't track 1volt per octave but it does sound interesting. There are two CV inputs, both with attenuators. They're bipolar, just like your mom.

The Atoner can be used as an interesting clock source, spitting out crazy rhythmic variations to your other modules. We're using the Analogue Systems rs200 sequencer to control our first source, the Malekko / Wiard AntiOscillator. Later we use the rs200 to control the Atoner's oscillator. We're using the super-awesome, must-have Borg Filter as a VCA / Low Pass Gate."

"Individaul pitch and volume control added to each voice. Pitch is bypassable. Sequencer glitches which also trigger midi notes (very cool, cheers to squidfanny for info on that one!) 16 point patchbay + 2 3 way mults and four switchable patches. Global pitch bend. Just built, still learning how to use this baby!"

YouTube via twelvebits
"Basic acid house.
A real 505 and a software 303. Chords are Tal U-No 60, a free Roland Juno 60 plug in. The ADM2 is a very nice 303 emulation but cannot escape from sounding software IMO."

circuit bent yamaha pss790 vector synthesizer

YouTube via spunkytoofers
"besides the waveforms getting bent within a synth or tone module a synth or tone module's workstation logic can be bent. usually have onboard sequencers, auto accompainments, and other forms of self control that the control logic of them also gets bent in random ways. usually uncommon that a workstation like this will allow glitch control that allows a user to interact with the ongoing data. the player can take over, the self logic of the short circuit can take over, or there can be a mix of the fuzzy logic inbetween the user's and the keyboard's logic. the logic can reconfigure the voice it self and playing responses as well as control the event of sounds in an ongoing dialogue with itself or a user of the instrument."

Hot Chocolate - No doubt about it

YouTube via quantumcatboy

"Collection:Greatest Hits of the 80's
CD:1
Track:1"
This one popped on the Analog Heaven mailing list. The intro synth is most likely the Yamaha GX1, precursor to the CS80. According to Peter Forest, author of the A-Z of Analogue Synthesizers, "Hot Chocolate were recorded in Mickie Most's studio, which boasted a very nice GX-1." It definitely has the CS80 sound.

Ambient Blofeld

via Boele of SCD on the Waldorf list:
http://www.synthmusic.info/mpdries/ModMemMan.mp3
"Here's a test sound with my Blofeld going through a modified Electro Harmonix Memoryman de Luxe analog delay.

The 4 MN3008 (2048 stage BBD) chips are exchanged with MN3005s 4096 stage BBD). This doubles the delaytime, gives a little bit more analog (= nice) distortion when feedback is opened up. Also the opamps are exchanged with better ones.

It's just a simple pad patch going through the MM with maximum delaytime, feedback on 2 o'clock and a little pitch modulation from the MM added.

This brings me back to old Pink Floyd records."
