"one of a kind Oberheim Two Voice System uniquely modded with individual patch points. The mods are beautifully done and very professional, and turns this TVS in a modular style synth that can also be patched out to your other modular gear quite easily. It's especially great because you can use the handy sequencer for other gear."

SAILOR: 'All I Need is a Girl' - Mystery Keytar
Embedding is unfortunately disabled on this one, so click here to watch. Anyone know more about that keytar? Looks like a custom job.
via swissdoc: "found this nice big and heavy keytar while watching a German TV show from the past "Musikladen - TV Discotheque International", that show was aired for a longer time, that section is taken from 1978. Found the clip allready on youtube. It is actually Sailor with 'All I need is a girl'"

KAWAI K5 Digital Multidimensional Synthesizer
via this auction
I almost put this one up on MATRIXYSNTH-B but found the MULTI-DIMENTIONAL reference on the user manual interesting enough for a post here. Click the image below. The Kawai K5 is a digital additive synhth. Instead of raw waveforms for oscillators you add harmonics to create sound. I'm not sure on the K5, but on the K5000s editing is similar to editing bands on an equalizer in that you have a row of various harmonics that you can individually adjust. You can route envelopes and LFOs to them as well.
Update via Mike of Spatial Creations in the comments: "I've conquered the K-5. I used one in school to write a piece of Avant Garde Music.
I did all the sound design and used two K-5s with Performer for the Mac. This was in 1992. Let me know what you think..."

Cellular automata music on Novation Launchpad
YouTube via hotchk155
"I wondered what it would sound like if I tried to turn "Conways game of life" into music. With help from wikipedia I found several of these cellular automata algorithms and coded some of them to use the launchpad as a display and input to toggle cells as the program ran. The buttons on the right select between different algorithms. The bottom row of buttons is mapped across a major scale and the scale is also moved by the program in a kind of 12-bar progression. The output is MIDI piped into Reason via midi yoke. See my other clips for midi source code...
Its interesting how these rules come up with intricate semi-random repeating patterns which map well to music.. worth more playing i think"

Tattoo VST for OS X Update

MFB PSU-CV/Gate Calibration Information
via phono 1337 on the AH list:
"Since im a bit of a perfectionist, I wasn't quite happy with the fact that the mfb psu-cv/gate module wasn't completely spot on when it arrived in the mail. As with anything with trimmers, chances are the post trip can move them ever so slightly.
Anyway since there's no information available on this, I decided to figure out for myself what the 4 trimmers were, so I might as well share the information for any of you that also have this module.
Here's a little pic which includes the info you need to calibrate it."

Giving this one the Stocking Stuffers label. BTW, check out the links on the right for more affordable gifts. Some of the Ebay links will take you to smaller DIYers / manufacturers selling their stuff at relatively low prices.
If you see a post that warrants the Stocking Stuffers label, be sure to call it out. Sometimes I miss things...

Dance music with MindStorms sounds
YouTube via organfairy. Good stocking stuffer idea.
"It has been a while since I made music on the MindStorms bricks. But now I present the longest and most complicated piece of MindStorms music I have ever made.
The title of the melody is "the Future Child" and the idea is to make a cheerfull bleepy melody with the NXT's tones and use the other sounds as effects while an organ and a synthesizer supplies the orchestra.
Most of the pictures are robots made by myself. The rest is something I photographed at the First LEGO League competition in Herning back in 2007. The screenshots are from the NXT-G PC programming tools.
This piece of music is made completely without sampling or time editing. Everything is played in real-time in 8 tracks with the MindStorms bricks in front of two microphones. So the melody is actually played on the 4-key LEGO keyboard and the NXT buttons. The other instruments are Yamaha HE-8 organ Roland JX-8P synthesizer and CR-1000 drum machine. A Revox B77 can also be seen in the background."

Soundtrack of No Film - Prophet '08 Tracks by Seth Elgart
This one came in via Seth Elgart on the AH list:
"I have a few Prophet tunes available but they're not exactly demos. All the sounds are my own. Only the first one is completely effects free, but the others have only a little reverb (except for one track in the last one).
http://music.boxoftextures.com/track/sunday-rhythms
6 or 7 Prophet '08 tracks, no effects at all.
http://music.boxoftextures.com/track/leaving-the-mountain-behind-me
Also all Prophet, but has some reverb (but no other effects).
http://music.boxoftextures.com/track/choppers-overhead
Bass and lead are Prophet (both with a little reverb). Texture and arpeggios are not the Prophet.
http://music.boxoftextures.com/track/mountain-rhythms
Everything is Prophet except for the swirly textures (which is an Oberheim Matrix 6R). The pulses track and the stringish track have no effects. The "lead" track, on the other hand, is, uh, drenched in flanging, reverb and compression, so it's altered pretty far from the original sound."
