Update via apoptosis in the comments: "From what Ive been reading, the State Zero is not an analog synthesizer. This title is very misleading."
Great point. The title of the post is the title of the video, so I will leave it as is, but yes definitely worth pointing this out. Here's what's currently up on Mungo: http://mungo.com.au/zero.html. There's no mention of digital vs. analog components, but in this post it is referenced as digital.
From what Ive been reading, the State Zero is not an analog synthesizer. This title is very misleading.
ReplyDeleteSince none of us seems to REALLY know what it is yet, the title isn't necessarily misleading.
ReplyDeleteOne possibility is that it's a digitally controlled analog synth, with rotary encoders for parameter values and gate arrays providing the routing between functions. Sort of like an Oberheim Xpander, but with cables for programming the routing, instead of buttons. The weird thing in this case would be that the cables wouldn't carry CVs and the patch points wouldn't interface with external analog gear.
But this is all speculation, as Mungo hasn't really said AFAIK. There's a lot of discussion over on Muff's about this.
Good point. There isnt really any concrete info yet.
ReplyDeleteI would be much more excited about it if it is actually analog.
This thing still seems pretty cool though. Patching up a sound then being able to recall it without using any cables.
Its pretty too!
Thanks for the heads up about muffs. I had not read that thread yet.
Its all digital.
ReplyDeleteprice 10 000$ kind of affordable yes?
