Moroder and a Roland System 700 Modular

Image via this Sound on Sound article on Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer's ‘I Feel Love’. Note the article is primarily on the Moog modular and the image caption states "Giorgio Moroder with his Moog modular system" but that's actually a Roland System 700. I wonder what the story is behind this shot - is it his system and studio, was it sent in for the article? Regardless, it is a great article and Sound on Sound is a great synth magazine. Note the Roland MC-8 system and ARP 2600 to his right. Minimoog to his left. This one spotted and sent in via Thomas.

Update via 7ate9 in the comments: "this is my fav moroder pic:

(it also has the moog modular in it)
cheers"

  1. Hard to resist Giorgio's sense of personal style.

    Bravo!

  2. Note the 2nd Minimoog to his right (on its side) and a box for a CR-78 under the table.

Note it is a slow day here at work.

  5. Neither of these is the machine used for I Feel Love or Giorgio's main albums. The System 700 pic is late 70s or probably early '80s. The Moog modular pic is Dan Wyman's Moog at Sound Arts.

I don't know that Giorgio ever owned a Moog modular - but he used one maybe from Bellotte or Farold Falt (later Faltermeyer) on I Feel Love and his own disco albums like E-MC2.
