Analogue Solutions Europa Release Date and Price

Analogue Solutions new Europ Sequencer is set to be available March 1st for $799 according to Noisebug.

"KEY FEATURES OF EUROPA
* Intuitive and simple programming procedure
* No sub-menus or shift keys - one function per key
* Simple to use - TR808/606 style programming.
* Analogue features - analogue tempo clock, 7 analogue trigger outs, analogue sync signals
* Live editing features
* Transpose, Octave shift, Mute
* Rugged steel construction.

Europa is a hardware sequencer, it does not contain a 'sound engine'. It has been designed from the ground up to be utilised with your MIDI synths, analogue modular, drum brains and drum machines.

Eurpoa was designed to be utilised with our SQ8 and Oberkorn analogue sequencers (and anything else with a compatible clock input).

Either use the main sync out or one of the seven trigger outputs to clock your analogue sequencers. Have them step whenever you like by programming triggers into the Europa sequencer. You can have 2 sequencers play alternately. You can mute the track so the Oberkorn/SQ8 sequencer stops! Use another trigger and you can activate the reset feature of the Oberkorn/SQ8!"

Sequential Circuits Pro One Vintage Synthesizer

YouTube via intromix
"A brief description of the deep "Bassy" sounds of the legendary Pro One Synth and the artists that used this keyboard back in the day. Thankfully there is a way to sequence the synth patterns without purchasing a midi kit to sync it. Any pulse output will trigger the CV/GATE input of the Pro One, and I tried the Roland TB-303 and it didn't work that great, but worked PERFECT with the 808. This unit is the J-wire version which was upgraded for the better, being the first 1500 units made from 1981-1984 had problems."

Moog MG-1 MG1 with Sync Sweep Modification

YouTube via rolandsh1000. Moog MG-1s on Ebay
"Just a quick demo of a modified Moog MG-1 that will be on ebay very soon. This definitely doesn't go through all the functions (see Youtube's from Automatic Gainsay/Marc Doty for his _incredible_ series on this synth!) [see here], but just the basics. The main thing I wanted to show was the added Sync Sweep capability, which routes the Contour/EG to Tone2/Osc2 via an added switch. This can give you pitch swoops on osc2 when sync is out, but very cool timbre changes when sync is switched in.

Note: when demoing the effect of the LFO on the filter, I also had the Contour driving the cutoff, so I'd have needed to keep pressing the key to show the full effect. THIS IS EXACTLY HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO WORK! :)"

Introducing the WRONGAMIN noise maker.

YouTube via leafcutter
"Disigned and built by Leafcutter John. Full schematic at http://www.leafcutterjohn.com

The Wrongamin is an excellent, easy to build sound maker that can create a range of sounds. From crackles not unlike the sound of a dusty old record to a deep hungry animal growl heard through several out of control AM radios.

It uses three LDRs (Light dependent resistors) to change the pitch of Three very high frequency oscillators. What is interesting about this machine is that in normal operation we don't hear the oscillators directly as they are tuned far above the highest sound a human can hear. What makes this instrument audible are the interactions between the three oscillators which project downward into the realm of our perception. Some Theramins operate on this same principle and this is where the Wrongamin gets its name.

"A Theramin can sound very wrong in the wrong hands, a Wrongamin sounds wrong in everyones hands"

If you make it please leave a comment or video comment - I want to see your creations!

John."

CMI C.M.I Fairlight IIX

via this auction
"Fairlight IIX vintage sampler/ synthesizer. The unit is about 97% functional. The sampling input needs some work as well as the lightpen but neither of these are completely necessary to use the machine. Key commands can get you around the lightpen and having the Fairlight sample library would take care of sounds. The unit was just gone through by Synhouse and I put about $700 into it to get it tested, repaired, and up to speed. Both disc drives read discs, all 8 voice cards work properly, and the MIDI I/O works perfectly as well so you can use it with an external MIDI controller. I chose not to pursue the sampling input or lightpen fix but Synhouse will take the unit back in if you choose to do so. The monitor is suffering from the "bubbling" thing that goes on around the edges but it really doesn't look that bad when the machine is booted up. The screen is legible and works fine. It will come with all connector cables, CPU, both keyboards and OS boot discs which have all been verified and tested."
