via this auction

"Paia Dual Voltage Controlled Oscillator with AR envelope generator module for a frac-format modular synthesizer. See the manufacturer's website at for more information. This module packs a lot of functionality into a small package. You get two VCOs with many simultaneous waveform outputs and a cycling attack-release envelope generator."

"Paia Triple VCA/Mixer with a built in ADSR envelope generator. There is also apparently a ringmod feature, but I have never used it. It is explained in the included instruction manual. For more info, see the manufacturer's website at http://paia.com/proddetail.asp?prod=9710K&cat=12."

See the seller's other items for more including two Blacet modules.

Blue Roland SH-101 with Mods

via this auction

"This widely used and loved analog synth has been seriously upgraded by "Signal - Pro audio labs" in Israel. The upgrade cost me more then the actual value of the synth itself.

The newly added features of the Nova Mod include:
* VCF FM: Amazing new sounds are now added through this feature. Six FM sources are available
* LFO Clock Input: Syncing Arpeggiator and LFO to external drum modules and sequencers is now possible. Some interesting feedback loops can also be achieved now.
* PW Modulation Source Selection: Now you can choose a pulse width source which is independent from the LFO's waveform setting.
OSC sources are included.
* Pulse width to near 0%: Pulse width effects are now made more extreme and powerful.
* External audio input: The ability to do FM of the VCF by an external audio source or to simply route a signal into the audio path is now provided.
* VCF CV input: Just plug in a foot pedal or a CV from a midi converter and your SH-101 will sing!
* LFO rate Scalar: Some really slow sweeps are now possible.
* Overdrive Knob: Allows to achieve some additional analog distortion flavors."

via Prototek where you'll find more including Eurorack and Frac.
"I've created this page as a means to sell off a majority of my modular synthesizer modules that I have accumulated over the years.

You'll find the modules split into their respective format categories. Interested parties are welcome to buy a single module as well as a whole system.

Every module that is for sale has been fully checked out and tested. All are 100%. Some of the modules (like Blacet & MOTM) were built from kits by myself. I took detailed pictures of these and I think you will find the quality of work reassuring.

You will find each module's price above it's description, below each picture. Anyone interested in purchasing any of the items seen on these pages, please"

THE CURE - A FOREST - COVER

YouTube via elfferichfour
"This song is a milestone in modern popmusic. Because of this song millions of kids decided to start writing and playing their own music. The simpleness of this tune inspired many young musicians. Most of them started bands and they played all over the world in small venues but they never achieved the same succes as THE CURE, because THE CURE invented this kind of music. THE CURE still play big venues all over the world and it all started in 1980 with songs like A FOREST !
I just play a simple instrumental version of A FOREST, using two synths and a loopstation.
Hope you like it."

THE CURE - A FOREST - IMPROVISATION

"a short improvisation on the famous tune A FOREST by THE CURE. This track is from 1980 and a big influence on the music scene of the 80ties of last century. I play the YAMAHA CS-10 and KORG Poly 61 synthesizer and use a loopstation."

"An interesting day in the studio mostly due to the fact that I thought Id be working with one project but it turned out that I was doing some new rough mixes for the soundtrack me and Matti are working on...But first I had a bit of fun with a new filer that arrived at the studio today. I am sorry that this film is slightly unfocused and weird but as I wrote it is my first try-out of the filter...my first mumbly steps if you will...

This film was recorded at Roth Händle studos in Stockholm, Sweden. This is where I spend my days recording and producing artists...The studio started in my apartment and evolved slowly from there. This is the forth location of the studio. The first one obviously was at home...the second and third was at a abandoned shipyard outside of Stockholm. The studio works more or less in two ways either the artists come here to the studio or people send files that I work with...If you are curious to find out more about the studio please visit www.roth-handle.nu for more info, blogs and odd facts.

Thanks for watching,

Mattias"

Todd Barton and Metasynth and Shakespeare

via brian c:
"Todd is the resident composer of Ashland Oregon's Shakespeare Festival among other things. He wrote an article a few years back on Metasynth ( see http://www.uisoftware.com/MetaSynth/index.php) . The article does a very good job of placing that software and synthesis into a context of actual music production for theatre (as opposed as to yet another TB303 groove). Metasynth allows you to visualize a sound clip as an onscreen graphix and then manipulate the image to work changes into the sound and vice versa. It's kind of like the offspring between Fruitlyoops BeepMap and SonicCharge SynPlant where sound derivation is indirect thru image manipulation. - interesting stuff indeed.

The article is at http://toddbarton.com/library/sound_advice_article.pdf

His site is pretty interesting too. www.toddbarton.com Shakespeare and synths - cool stuff -

Prithy, wouldst thou resonate with my four pole filter that I might divine thy note?

8-)

Peace
Brian"

"Electro-Harmonix Effectology, Vol.13 Pink Floyd Synth Effects
By Bill Ruppert

"Welcome To The Machine" preformed on just a guitar and effect pedals.
Welcome to Electro-Harmonix's "Effectology" series, in which we create a remarkable collection of impossible sounds using just a regular guitar and EHX effect pedals!
No keyboards, samplers or midi pickups were used.

In this episode I recreate the classic Pink Floyd recording "Welcome To the Machine".
Using just effect pedals, I am able to reproduce the synthesizers and tape effects from this great record.
For more info and settings please go to the forum section at EHX.com"

"I am very glad and proud of buying your products, "Xsample Chamber Ensemble". It works perfectly well with Finale 2010 for my composition which involves several unusual instrumental techniques, such as flutter tongue, wind-instrument key noises, Bartok pizzicato, sul ponticello, and so on. I am very satisfied with it. I am currently a composition-major student at the Taipei National University of the Arts in Taiwan. If possible, I would very much like to offer my music, "String Quartet with three movements" as a user demo of your product.

Best wishes,
