Sequential Circuits Modded Moog MINIMOOG Model D Analog Synthesizer

via this auction

"Moog MINIMOOG MODEL D Synthesizer. Serial # 9504 (1977). Comes with original Moog ("Forge" by Anvil) case... I'm the second owner and from what I understand in 1977 this synth went to (or was used by?) a start-up called Sequential Circuits Co. (in a Sunnyvale, California garage, before they became SCI and moved to San Jose) where Dave Smith and John Bowden [Bowen] were working on a Minimoog, Arp 2600 memory programmer called the Model 700 - this later became the patch memory for the famous Prophet 5 synth. At that time Sequential Circuits would do a mod that allowed all three oscillators to be accessed by the Model 700 involving extra input jacks. This Mini received that mod and has since been returned to original, but the 3 extra jacks remain...they are very clean and are marked "Key", "2" and "3" (see pics). I have another Minimoog that has this same mod that I use with an early Model 700 and it's really an amazing set-up if you can find one...they do turn up on Ebay sometimes.

The Anvil case is in good shape with some scuffs and scratches. The foam is holding up but is getting old and will need to be replaced in the coming years."

Flame "Tame Machine" Quantizer+Beat-Looper

YouTube via flameampere

"The Flame "Tame Machine" euro rack modul

QUANTIZER SECTION
The module is a combination of quantizer and beat looper. A quantizer converts a continous control voltage (on CV-input) in the range of 0...+5V into a stepped output voltage in the same voltage range. The scale assign the possible voltage states. The quantizer can be triggered per external trigger input or per link of the pulse from the beat section.
The module has 5 banks with each 7 patches for scales: Bank 1-4 with 28 fixed preset scales and bank 5 with 7 patches for individual user scales. The keynote transposes the actually scale.
Keynote and scale can be set by external CV inputs (keynote, scale) or manually per keyboard buttons.
The playing of keynotes is recordable over max. 4 measures.
The keyboard buttons can be used like a mini keyboard (jack keygate=gate out, jack CV out=notes, octave setting with CV-2 ruler) .
The CV inputs and outputs has the moog characteristic (1V/oct.).

BEAT SECTION
The second section can create individual beat patterns and can record over max. 4 measures. The GATE ruler assigns the gate length of the beat output pulse (off, gate, hold) and the BEAT ruler assigns the rythm of the beat output pulse.
Also the beat section generates the CV-2 output with following settings:
- variable voltage between 0..+5 Volt
- Random between +1..+2 Volt
- LFO down or up 0..+5 Volt (fixed time interval over 1 measure).

The Tap-Tempo generates the internal tempo (two times 4th-tap) or per permanently external 16th clock.
A Reset input/push button sets the beat on measure 1 and sets also the reset output. The module generates automaticly a reset pulse on measure 1 (pulse lenght=16th).

Software updates possible via usb (jack on pcb)"

In-Line Effects Drumfire Analog Drum Synthesizer SN 18249

via this auction

"The Drumfire DF-500 is a 5 channel drum synth module. The 5 channels are identical, with their own Trigger-In and Audio Out sockets.
Each channel is a mini analogue synth drum module, capable of producing a wide range of electronic drum sounds, and since every parameter is defined by a knob, it's highly tweakable.
The 5 drum channels also have their own level and pan pots, and the signals are mixed to a pair of stereo outputs with Left/Right volume control.

Each channel has 9 controls (8 knobs & 1 switch):
SENSITIVITY controls pickup/trigger in sensitivity
OSCILLATOR DECAY controls decay time of the synth oscillator
NOISE DECAY controls decay time of the noise sound
SWEEP alters oscillator frequency
CLICK (Switch) adds a click sound to the attack
PITCH changes oscillator pitch
BALANCE controls balance between oscillator/noise
VOLUME output volume to mixer
PAN L/R balance control, also allow dual output on L/R jacks

Since it has individual audio outputs, the out could be patch back/daisy chain to the next channel's trigger input, so cascading up to a 5 oscillator synth drum sound!"

Original Model D Minimoog

via this auction
"The Minimoog is a monophonic analog synthesizer, invented by Bill Hemsath and Robert Moog. Released in 1971 by the original Moog Music, it continued in production until 1984.

The Minimoog was designed in response to the use of synthesizers in rock and pop music. Large modular synthesizers were expensive, large, and delicate, and were not ideal for live performance; the Minimoog was designed to include the most important parts of a modular synthesizer in a compact package, without the need for patch cords. It later surpassed this original purpose, however, and became a distinctive and popular instrument in its own right. It remains in demand today, nearly four decades after its introduction, for its intuitive design and powerful bass and lead sounds.

Here's a great and informative site with much useful information and history about these fantastic synthesizers: http://monsite.wanadoo.fr/MiniMoog/page1.html

via mfberline.de

"* CV/Gate step-sequencer
* 32 step-controls for direct access
* two modes with 2 x 16 or 4 x 8 steps
* 4 x CV/Gate-outputs (5V or 10V)
* adjustable gate-length
* continuously variable range between 1-10V
* MSRP: 380, - Euro

The MFB family is steadily growing. The new step-sequencer URZWERG is a universal control-central for KRAFTZWERG, SCHLAGZWERG as well as for future ZWERG models.

URZWERG offers 32 steps that can either be used in two sequences with 16 steps each or as four sequences with 8 steps each. Accordingly, up to four synthesizers or CV-parameters of a modular system can be addressed simultaneously. When in 4 x 8 mode, URZWERG could control four NANOZWERG units polyphonically. Another example would be independent control over pitch, pulse width, filter-cutoff and LFO-speed on a single KRAFTZWERG. In combination with a modular system, possibilities are finally vast. URZWERG’s Gate- and CV-inputs are compatible to all common modules for the Eurorack-system.

URZWERG was designed for intuitive operation. All functions have designated controls that can be edited while the sequencer is running. Steps can be set and edited live, as well as the sequence direction and the sequence length for each individual row.

URZWERG allows setting of independent gate-lengths, ranges and glides for rows 1/2 and 3/4. Range defines the CV-range for the step-knobs between 1-10V. For pitch control, the range can be quantized to 5V. All four rows feature skip-buttons per step to activate/deactivate gate-triggers for these positions. Alternatively, the skip-buttons can also deactivate the CV-step-control. To add more liveliness, URZWERG also offers two optimized shuffle-modes.

URZWERG provides four Gate- and CV-outputs to control compatible analogue synthesizers and modular systems. Start-I/O and Clock-I/O allow URZWERG to be synchronized to and sync other analogue sequencers. The additional CV-Clock-input allows for dynamic tempo-control, e.g. using an external LFO or a CV-controller.

To be synchronized to MIDI-sequencers, URZWERG can send and receive MIDI-start/stop commands as well as MIDI-clock. Furthermore, URZWERG’s sequences can be transposed, advanced stepwise as well as its steps being directly addressed using a MIDI-keyboard or DAW.

MFB’s URZWERG has the following dimensions: 310 x 165 x 38/72 mm.

External power supply included."

MFB-NANOZWERG Full Details

"* analogue VCO with four waveform shapes
* sub-oscillator with two octave settings
* analogue multimode-filter with 12dB/oct
* LFO with “one-shot” functionality
* audio-input
* controllable by MIDI and CV/Gate
* MSRP: 220, - Euro

Size doesn’t always matter. Despite its compact dimensions, NANOZWERG is a full-featured monophonic analogue synthesizer. With VCO, an additional sub-oscillator and its 12dB-slope-multimodefilter, NANOZWERG offers multiple bass- and lead-sounds. In addition, NANOZWERG offers a noise-generator and also works as an effects-processor using its external audio-input.

Here is an overview to NANOZWERG’s configuration:
The analogue VCO generates four waveform shapes: Triangle, saw tooth, rectangle and needle-impulse. The base pitch can be switched over a four-octave-range, while fine-tune can be specified within a range of one octave. The sub-oscillator with two mixable octave settings completes the NANOZWERG’s sound foundation. The noise generator can alternatively replace the sub-oscillator to create non-harmonic sounds. Finally, a glide-control can be used to tie notes with portamento.

The state-variable multimode-filter runs with 12dB slope per octave and offers Lo-, Hi- and Bandpass-modes as well as notch-filtering and resonance up to self-oscillation. Cutoff can be modulated manually, by LFO and by the ADSR-envelope simultaneously. In addition, pitch-dependent cutoff-frequency can be achieved using the key follow function. Finally, LFO modulation can be replaced by the VCO output signal.

The LFO offers four waveform shapes including sample & hold as well as a one-shot-function, where the selected waveform is played only once after a gate-trigger, thus imitating a simple envelope. Besides the cutoff-frequency, the LFO can also modulate the pitch or the VCO rectangle’s pulse width.

The ADSR-envelope allows modulation of the filter’s cutoff-frequency and the VCA-output, with positive or negative excursion. Selectively, the VCA can also be opened by a gate-trigger to free the envelope for exclusive filter use.

For integration into a modular system or use with an analogue sequencer, NANOZWERG offers several control inputs. There is CV/Gate for pitch control and note length as well as CV-inputs for cutoff-control, the VCA and LFO speed. The LFO also offers CV-output.

The audio-input allows signals to be fed into the VCF and VCA. NANOZWERG can be controlled by MIDI from any compatible keyboard or DAW. Note commands are received as well as pitch-wheel (+/- 2 semitones) and modulation-wheel data, the latter controlling the filter’s cutoff frequency.

MFB’s NANOZWERG has the following dimensions: 125 x 125 x 35 mm.

External power supply included."

Silent Way AC Encoder

"Silent Way AC Encoder removes the need for a DC coupled audio interface and lets you use Silent Way with almost any audio interface. The two requirements are

* your interface must have balanced outputs (almost all do).
* you need to make some special cables (see below).

The cables are a very simple job, well within the scope of anyone with basic soldering skills."

Minimalist digital oscillators…

No 800MHz ARM core, Sharc DSP or hardware-accelerated band-limited interpolation here! The Shruti-1 runs on a modest AVR microcontroller (of the Arduino fame) clocked at 16 MHz and providing a whopping 2kb of RAM. You’re more likely to find this 8-bit wonder in vending machines than in synths… Yet, the Shruti-1’s firmware squeezes the most out of this tight processor to render classic waveforms, but also FM or weird digital sounds – all of them in their full 8-bit quirkiness."
