"The keyboard is loosely based on my Juno 106."

Anything 80s, makes me happy.

YouTube via TheSynthFreq — May 24, 2010 — "HI! :)
This is new composition that is a kind of "tribute" to 80s movies and their cheesy soundtracks that all of us 80s freaks enjoy. I wrote this song on the Motif 6 synthesizer and am playing the lead on the CZ-5000 and Alpha Juno-1. My D-50 has a synth string patch that is added here and there in the song. MsMotif6 is playing the string track.
Please enjoy the 80s corniness of this track. lol :)

:) TSF"

"New beginning" duet.

"TheSynthFreq — May 24, 2010 — Hi. This song was written by Crystal (MsMotif6) and I am playing harmony to the lead track that she wrote. This is a fun group song that is lighthearted and about new beginnings in life. Especially after unhappy times, it is time to start enjoying more and just be happy on this journey of life. :)
Please enjoy!
:) TSF & MsMotif6"

How To Destroy Angels on Wired

Studio shot via Wired who has an article on How To Destroy Angels' song construction.
"Reznor used his roomful of instruments—a vacuum-tube-powered drum machine [], a Casio SK-1 keyboard with a bent circuit board, and so on—to put together a library of analog and electronic beats... Building on top of this substructure, Reznor and Ross spent two days recording ancillary melodies on a Moog Minimoog Voyager [], an out-of-tune African marimba, a ukulele [], and other instruments." via Antony.

Update: I contacted Eric Barbour of Metasonix on tube based drum machine. I was curious if it was the D-1000 pictured, as I didn't see the signature yellow - it's marked in the image with the red dot. Turns out it's a prototype of the D-1000.

Syzygryd Kickstarter video - DIY Flame Vortex Instrument

YouTube via interpretivearson — May 07, 2010 — "Help us fund the fire for Syzygyrd! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/f...

Syzygryd is a soaring metal sculpture measuring 60 ft in diameter and 13 feet high, spiraling out to three touchscreen-operated controllers that anyone can use to dynamically compose music. The interface is intuitive and visual, allowing anyone from a 5 year old to a 105 year old to become a musician. The sculpture itself consists of three curving metal arms which spiral towards the center of the space into a tornado of increasingly larger and larger aluminum cubes. The cubes are lit from within by 1.5 kilowatts of LEDs, and the lights are sequenced to the music as it is created. The entire sculpture responds to how you play it!"

YouTube via kenzie2029 — May 24, 2010 — "C64 mod that I've been working on for the last few months. Built this machine to run 8bit adventures MSSIAH. I installed a sid2sid board with 2 new old stock sid 6581 chips.

I repainted it black with the key bed white. I added the 4 pot mod as well as switches to deactivate them making ports 1 and 2 still usable for game pads. I also added indicator lights to the switches. Also did the feedback distortion loop mod with switches and indicator lights as well.
Added 1/4 inch outputs and inputs, both with volume control. Added custom 3.5 inch lcd screen with second input available via rca on the back.

Also added a dimmer switch to the leds.

Roland Jupiter-6

via this auction

"The Jupiter 6 is an incredible analog synth. All of the Jupiters have a sound that was unlike any other synthesizer and the Jup 6 is no exception. This sound is due in part to classic analog Roland technology in its filters, modulation capabilities and a thick cluster of 12 analog oscillators at 2 per voice. Easy and intuitive programming via front panel sliders, knobs and buttons for all your tweaking needs."

Large Hadron Collider Makes Music

via Gizmodo

"A jet is made up of lots of cells containing energy deposits. Each cell has an energy, a distance and an angular distance (dR) associated with it. So each cell can be heard as a separate note in this example. This is quite a long track (about 90 seconds). The sounds reduce in density very much towards the end, with isolated events separated by silences of several seconds."
That's one hell of a sequencer...

YouTube via MsMotif6 — May 24, 2010 — "Original composition written totally on the Motif 6.
A New Beginning represents a new way of thinking and how the future might be. Its positive with more major chords than I typically use.
I play the guitar live using the pitch-bend wheel for a nature effect and vibrato/modulation.
No software, no looping.
Please enjoy,

BMF Re-Configures Erik Norlander’s “Wall of Doom”

via the Bob Moog Foundation where you'll find more pics and the full story.

"Amos Gaynes [right] and August Worley [left] - To many of you, Amos Gaynes from Moog Music needs no introduction. He is well-known in the synth community for his clear and insightful articulation of all things that involve a Moog tech. Amos understands the contemporary Moog gear inside and out as a tech and as a creator of firmware for some of the newer products. A student of mechatronics at UNC-A, he is well on his way to becoming an engineering force at Moog Music, Inc.

August Worley is an electrical engineer who shares a unique qualification with Bob Moog. August is the only person to have worked at Moog Music Buffalo, Big Briar, Inc. and Moog Music Asheville. He was part of the engineering team who helped Bob develop the Voyager. August was uniquely qualified to work on this modular project, as he formerly toured with ELP as the keyboard tech for Keith Emerson’s Monster Moog Modular. He also developed the pyrotechnics for Keith’s Moog ribbon controller.

Between the two, Amos and August have donated over 60 hours of time to the completely reconfiguration of the Wall of Doom in to its new home." Be sure to see the full article for tons of more pics and the full story behind Erik Norlander's "Wall of Doom" and upcoming event with the system, at Moogus Operandi on May 27th"
