"I Can See Them" Rehearsal

YouTube via newechoproductions | August 14, 2010

"I shot so some over the shoulder low rez video using a point and shoot camera while rehearsing. This is an excerpt from the song "I Can See Them" from the album "I Hear Your Signals". I'm controlling synths in real-time using Percussa AudioCubes. The video illustrates how sensitive the "sensor" cube is. Only slight finger movements can cause large changes."

8 Track Sequence

YouTube via mik300z | August 14, 2010

"This is the boring side to recording, but...I hope it demonstrates the use of the esq1's simple 8 track sequencer using 2 then 4 bars at a standard 120 bpm. This old gear is quirky but allows ideas to be put down quickly. sometimes you can take just one little piece of the sequence and it inspires something else, the ending was a little improv based on what I took from the sequence. The sequence itself is nonsense but It threw me to another path ....thats what I love about it:)"

YouTube via mmachinibarra | July 17, 2010

"The melody was played in a test version of the home made Synthesizer VCO developed by us: Jorge & Miguel Machin. Additionally we used Andromeda A6 Synthesizer's filters and envelopes to shape the signal and a MF 104z for delay effects. The chord progression was played in a Yamaha Motif XS."

Omnichord Spoken Here! A Suzuki Songbook

via this auction

"'Omnichord Spoken Here! A Suzuki Songbook'

Printed in 1985.

"An exciting collection of today's most popular hit songs for your Omnichord System Two"

Yes, a songbook made specifically for the Omnichord. 118 songs! But the best part of this book is obviously that cover! Look at that amazing anthropomorphic Omnichord! Possibly the creepiest thing ever!"

More Advanced Electronic Music Projects

via this auction

"'More Advanced Electronic Music Projects' by R.A. Penfold.
Published in 1986. Paperback.

Includes DIY projects for effects such as Phaser, Phase Shifter, Fuzz, Ring Modulator, Chorus, Noise Gate, Vibrato, and more. There are also projects for DIY percussion synthesizers with a range of effects including drum, cymbal, and gong type sounds.

'Each project has an introduction, plus circuit diagram, description, and any necessary constructional and setting up notes being provided. Printed circuit layouts and other detailed constructional information have not been included, and the projects are not really in the "dead simple" category as a certain amount of experience at electronics construction is really needed in order to tackle them confidently. However, anyone who has built up a few simple electronics projects should have little difficulty in building most of the designs featured in this book."

This book is a little rough on the cover with some bends and pen scribbles (I don't know why), but inside it's in good shape. This is a great book for anyone interested in building their own effects or building an analog drum synthesizer (it would probably sound like a Tama Techstar, old Simmons module, or the PAIA DRUM module)'"

The Development and Practice or Electronic Music

via this auction

"'The Development and Practice or Electronic Music' by Jon H. Appleton & Ronald C. Perera
Printed in 1975. Hardcover.

Chapters:
1. Otto Luening: Origins
2. A. Wayne Slawson: Sound, Electronics, and Hearing
3. Gustav Ciamaga: The Tape Studio
4. Joel Chadabe: The Voltage-Controlled Synthesizer
5. John E. Rogers: The Uses of Digital Computers in Electronic Music Generation
6. Gordon Mumma: Live Electronic Music

Basically an old textbook on electronic music and analog synthesizers, you can learn a lot about making electronic music with synthesizers by reading this book. Covers all sorts of things, such as how synthesizers work, how you hear different frequencies, how to record synthesizers, how to use them in interesting ways live, and examples of how others have used them in the past. There are also tons of great black and white photos of old synthesizers, modular synths, and people using them live.

Synthesizers pictured include: Minimoog, EML ElectroComp, Moog Sonic VI (Prototype?), ARP 2500, ARP 2600, Synket, Moog Modular, EML Synthi 100, EML Synthi A, and more!"

Electronic Musical Instruments: What They Do, How They Work

via this auction
"'Electronic Musical Instruments: What They Do, How They Work' by Larry Kettlekamp
Printed in 1984. Hardcover.

"Larry Kettlekamp shows how synthesizers, electronic organs, computer rhythm units, sound processors, and other electronic instruments were developed; how they work and are played; what they are capable of doing; and how they are being used in concerts and recordings."

Nice old ex-library book about synthesizers and other electronic musical instruments. Lots of nice black and white pictures of gear such as the Minimoog, Korg Polysix, Moog Opus 3 , Moog Liberation, Polymoog, Roland TB-303, Yamaha CS-01, and more. Nice picture of Bob Moog with a Moog Modular, Minimoog, Sonic 6, and accessories, worth the price of the book alone!"

Boss Dr Pad

via this auction

"Classic 80s Boss drum pad/module/synth. Also known as Dr. Pad 1
Works fine but runs better with a Boss power supply than with 9v batteries.

2 x 80s digital gated snares plus tambourine, hand claps, cymbal and timpani. Variable sweep with time and range, decay (note length) pitch sensitivity and pitch allow for quite a lot of tweakability. Variable level output and sensitivity controls on the back panel. You can trigger from external sources via the trigger in.

Play with a virtual version here to hear the basic sounds - the actual unit can vary and bend the sounds much more."
