Empty Your Brain by Stomachlining

YouTube via stomachlining | September 03, 2010

"Synthi AKS sequence altered with speed dial & transposition pads on KS keyboard. Synthi A also sequenced by the Doepfer MAQ16/3 (@1v/oct) ...Thanks to Vy Fie on MAM VF11 vocoder...& Marie Beau-Chez on vocals...with a thank you to my mates at the Beijing Drum Tower for letting me film them. Now this is my how to video, in this case its HOW TO BE HAPPY. In my search for happiness I noticed one thing always stood in my way... my brain... with its endless tape loops, some as old as several decades, playing over and over... from parents, siblings, spouses, teachers, tv talkingheads, & don't forget my own tape loop voice, beating myself up from time to time... my mind though, that's OK... the mind is tuned to the nonverbal OM of the universe. I'm better off operating out of that corner of the galaxy. Yeah, shut that brain up....Empty Your Brain & the Mind Will Come"

Moog Modular Poll

Don't forget to take the poll and check back on the numbers. At this point 517 votes are in for the first poll on whether you would buy new modules. An interesting side note is Moog made the original MF-104 Delay pedal limited to only 500 units. Just something to think about.

Code+Live: friday afternoon mix

Code+Live: friday afternoon mix from Livid Instruments on Vimeo.

"After some struggling (a lack of familiarity with Python and minimal documentation will do that!) with making a Remote Script for the Livid Code controller and Ableton Live, I took some time to make a mix of some material I've been playing with. The source files are short .wav files, many created on an iPod Touch. Additional material from Cycling '74's sample set Cycles Volume 2. The voice material is some random air traffic control banter I downloaded.
The Remote script gives me a variable 4x4 grid of clip and track control, plus 8 encoders for device control. There's more in there too: I'll explain in some other video!

Roland jupiter 4 Vintage polyphonic analog

via this auction

"A great synth with lovely warmth and capable of creating some very sweet sounds. Unison mode layers all 4 voices together tuning it into one of the fattest monophonic synths. Add to the mix the capability of >>>

-saving your settings to one of 8 user memory slots
-an interesting and very playable appegiator
-a great sounding chorus ensemble effect
-2 poly assign modes and 2 unison modes.
-stereo output
-overdrive the VCA for warm distortion

.....makes this a classic analog synth and a joy to play."

"Slightly later generation of the infamous 80's combat sounds chip. This one has flashing 'Night-Rider' style lights, only 4 of the 8 sounds are available on the chip.

Added a pitch knob and a light sensor, for Dub-Siren sounds.

Thanks again Wendy for finding me another fabulous nugget of 80's treasure :)"

Korg VC-10 Vocoder

via this auction

Interesting bit of info on the mic: "the previous owner lost the gooseneck mic so I had it replaced with a new gooseneck which I bought directly from Korg, it is the same mic they use on their new digital vocoder, the R3 (item desc: GM-23D in case you want to look it up). Also, the original oversized XLR jack has been replaced with a standard sized female XLR jack (see photos). I've included the original oversized XLR jack, as well as a photocopied manual."
