Blue Sound Master SR-88 & Electro Harmonix DRM 16
via DJ Josefo
All previous SR-88s posted have been dark gray (here, here, and a video here for example)
Update via Outa_Spaceman Being: 53 in the comments: "The blue SR-88 didn't have the 'sync' outputs that turned up on the grey version.
I used to record a 16th HH patten onto one track of my porta-studio then feed it into my EDP spider sequencer to lock everything together.
When the grey version came out it made things much easier.
The SR-88 also had a bigger brother with separate outputs but I can't remember what it was called."

"Modular stuff with the Moog Voyager thrown in. It should be obvious which core sound is the Voyager. The Voyager is run through the Cwejman RES-4, FSH-1 & VC-FC plus the TipTop Z5000 and Analogue Systems RS-290; and that's only on the right channel. The left channel goes through a Metasonix TM-2. The Metasonix R51 is in the feedback path of the Analogue Systems RS290 delay. You can see when it is brought into the sonic stew by watching the red diode on the right-most tube light up.
If you can stand watching until the last 45 seconds of the video, you'll see my new favorite trick: Making the Analogue Solutions BD78 self-oscillate and then sticking a very modulated STG Wavefolder on the end of it. Shhhh... don't tell anyone."

Vintage Synare 2 matrix drum synth
via this auction
"The Synare 2:
This was Star's flagship model., with one oscillator with sawtooth, and pulse waveforms,
white noise generator, etc.
But this had assignable functions, ie. routing the LFO to control certain parameters at once.
The LFO also added a sawtooth waveform) You could also select a wide range of octaves for the pitch to sound at, along with a fine tune function.
A major adjustment was the introduction of a fairly advanced sequencer with different patters, and the ability to change patterns and octaves. You could also adjust the speed and the note(s) sounded by the sequencer.
Plus, it had 16 pads instead of just four.
Retail price in 1976 was $1,395.00.
Made roughly from 1976-1982"

It's a Korg Kaossilator synthesizer which I try to play. I usually use this with different headphones which will be revealed in part 3 of this mini series."
Casio MT-400V w/analog filter, resonance
via this auction
"This was probably the best "Square Wave" Casiotone that they ever offered. It has a real analog filter with cutoff and resonance controls. The chorus is creamy. It also has a white noise generator.
The filter can also be controlled with a breath controller.
If you are handy with a soldering iron, there are some articles on the net where you can hot rod the resonance on this unit."

Good Vibrations - The Beach Boys 1966
YouTube via pshaky | October 15, 2010 |
via Ricko
"'Good Vibrations' is a psychedelic pop song by American rock band The Beach Boys. Composed and produced by Brian Wilson, the song's lyrics were written by Wilson and Mike Love.
Released as a single on October 10, 1966 (backed with the Pet Sounds instrumental "Let's Go Away For Awhile"), it was The Beach Boys' third U.S. number-one hit, reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in December 1966, as well as being their first British chart-topper. Initiated during the sessions for the Pet Sounds album, it was not taken from or issued as a lead single for an album, but as a stand-alone single, and later placed on the album Smiley Smile eleven months after its release."
early arc experiment - monome arc details
early arc experiment from tehn on Vimeo.
"a micro-looper.
eight samplers, corresponding to columns of the grid.
record by holding second-from-bottom key.
focus arc to column by pushing bottom key.
left knob is loop selection. turn to move selection, push-turn to resize selection.
right knob is volume. turning changes velocity, not position, so a tremelo effect is easily achieved. pushing down stops the spin, like a turntable.
third key up is mute/unmute. top rows transpose up/down by octaves. top rows meter sound levels."
"how does it work?
the device connects to a computer and is powered by USB. when the knob is moved or depressed, data is sent to the computer. the application running determines what happens with this data, and may correspondingly send data back to the device, changing the light pattern.
as with our other devices, programming isn’t required, though you may find yourself wanting to learn. we’ve already begun writing applications and expect the library to grow quickly through community involvement."

New MeeBlip Firmware Verson 1.04
via MeeBlip:
"James has been hard at work on the MeeBlip firmware, both in response to your feedback and in order to improve things we wanted to improve. The result is firmware 1.04, which is now available via our Git repository.
What you get:
* MIDI CC RAM table added. Now, we get more MIDI control over sound – more on that soon. This is also an area ripe for further modification.
* PWM waveform with dedicated fixed sweep LFO. New sounds. This is one I’m most excited about.
* 8-bit multiplies optimized in main loop. Improved performance.
* LFO Sync switch now retriggers LFO on each keypress. LFO Sync actually wasn’t working quite as advertised – fixed.
* Initialize FM Depth to zero on power up. Users reported issues with FM depth; this should fix your problems."
