EXB-MOSS DSP SYNTHESIZER BOARD

via this auction

"The TRITON series, TRITON Rack and Karma Music Workstation can be expanded by the installation of the ultimate DSP tone generator --- the 6-voice MOSS (Multi-Oscillator Synthesis System) tone generator featured on the Z1. Equipped with 13 oscillator algorithms, the MOSS expansion board lets you use all synthesis methods --- PCM, analog, VPM (variable phase modulation), and physical modeling --- on a single instrument. When the MOSS tone generator is installed, 128 MOSS programs are added. You can create combination programs that use multiple MOSS timbres together with HI sounds.

MOSS (MULTI OSCILLATOR SYNTHESIS SYSTEM)

The MOSS sound generator consists of Voice, EG and LFO sections. The voice section contains two powerful oscillator blocks OSC1/OSC2 which let you combine up to two of thirteen types of oscillator algorithm (resonance, organ model, electric piano model, standard, ring modulation, VPM, brass model, reed model and more), a sub oscillator, and a noise generator. The voice section also contains a filter block featuring two multi-mode filters that cover the range from analog synth sounds to complex sounds such as the body resonance of violin or guitar, or even human voice. To this are added five EG units and four LFO units, providing a rich variety of tonal and pitch changes for each voice.

MOSS SPECIFICATIONS

Sound Source: 6 voices, 2 oscillators (max.) + sub oscillator + noise generator
Oscillator Types: 13 (Standard, Ring Modulation, Cross Modulation, Oscillator Sync, VPM (Variable Phase Modulation), Comb filter oscillator, Resonance oscillator, Organ model, Electric piano model, Brass model, Reed model, Plucked string model, Bowed string model)
Programs: 128
[* Developed under license of physical modeling patents (listed in http://www.sondius-XG.com) owned by Stanford University, USA, and by Yamaha Corporation.]"

burgler alarm keybored analog sequencer synth

YouTube via puffhandy | Feb 25, 2011 | 0 likes, 0 dislikes

"This was formerly a General Electric "zonar burglar alarm". I found it at my local angel view thrift store and loved the fake woodgrain alarm clock/speaker cabinet looking box so I bought it for a whopping $1.99. Incendentally I also bought a very nice vintage tea pot which I needed very badly to go with my new coffee press. Anyhoo, I got it home to my delight it was perfect for this vactrol (opto-iso) thing that I had been thinking about making. After worked for about 14 hours designing and making this this beast and then subsequently I spent about 100 hours playing with it getting different sounds and enjoying it fully trust me. The seven code buttons on top are working keybored keys for a main oscillator sync'd to another oscillator that's pitch is detirmented by a vactrol with the LED side connected to the six on/off/on switches on top for a sequencer LFO effect that is F'N crazy!!! I would have added more LEDs, butit would change the sound and I love the creepy sc-fi with a horror twist that this thing has. email me for the schematic at puffhandy3000@yahoo.com and look for this item on etsy and ebay."

Vintage '76 Univox JR5 Drum Machine

via this auction
"Vintage Univox JR5 Drum Machine, Beatbox-1976! Hey, Depeche Mode used one just like this! This is a classic of electronic music and a rare find. The Univox JR5 was introduced in the 70s and is one of the originals (they later became Korg and this was also the Korg Pee Wee later on). I don't have an old speaker jack which is what this requires so I can'r hear it, but the light does flash to the downbeat as was advertised.

"Has push buttons in black & red depending upon which beat you choose Beats or tempos are as follows: Ballad/Waltz; Cha Cha/ Mambo; Latin Beat/ Bossanova; Rock 1/Rock 2; Polka/Foxtrot" I believe there are 17 separate beats when settings used in combination."

All 94 waveforms are available. Be sure to see Part 2. The purpose of these videos is primarily to showcase the editor controlling the Venom. It sounds much better live. Alesis Air Synth Synthesizer D-beam

via this auction
"I've controlled this Air Synth with my foot to excellent effect - though it helps to have white socks (even gloves, MJ) for best results, or lighter-bottomed shoes. You can play and control it barefoot as well. It also triggers with pieces of white paper/drumsticks/whatever. It likes to see a human hand / foot / or white surface to make the sensors work best. You can think D-Beam - it is similar to that technology, only this has 3 axis beam controls whereas D-Beams and theremins really only have 2 axis control - near and far. They don't respond to the 'left-right' axis, where this whacked machine does - often in stereo, which is really great. If I didn't have two of them, I'd be keeping it, but I am thinning the herd so take it away, eBay! I've used it nicely in reggae situations - excellent for spacey, echoed accents - and also to accompany silent films into a loop pedal. It really is sick. Fantastic device, still ahead of its time, the formant/vocal programs and weird sci-fi sounds are super useful and totally worth the price of admission, imo.

The only real interface you have (besides the XYZ sensor) is a round silver knob that selects, turns on or off, bypasses, holds and releases sounds plus an LED readout that shows you the selected program number (you can easily turn and press the knob with your foot as well). Incredible. To play the Alesis Air Synth you press the knob to turn the selected effect or pattern generator on, and then move your hand or foot through the infrared sphere to create sounds. This instrument would be great for a children's museum or music class; it is played without touching so it's not like sharing a recorder with little Billy Sickmaker."

Radikal Technologies Spectralis Hybrid Synthesizer

via this auction
As always, via the auction description: "The synth has a tiny problem where is asks for the date/time on boot it will not remember the date/time upon reboot. You can skip this by pressing the exit button on boot. I contacted Radikal Technologies about this and they replied that its probably a goldcap capacitor that feeds the clock. This goldcap capacitor is only used for the clock and does not affect operation of the synth. It is just used for file dating created/modified files in the memory and possibly as a random number generator seed for the Randomizer. Your data will NOT be lost on reboot. Your saved projects and saved sounds will NOT be lost on reboot. The ONLY thing that is lost is date/time... again this does not affect the synth operation unless you want to use this as a beastly clock which I don't recommend, then you will notice that the UI is not built for clock operation!

The synth has also been updated to the latest firmware available from Radikal Technologies Firmware 104k be sure to check there website for updates as they still update this device. This firmware is a complete firmware with all features working not like the factory 97L firmware which still had some of the features being developed."

A great little groovebox with bass drum, snare, open/closed hihat, percussion and monosynth engines. Does your 808, 909 and plenty of other kits very well and has many presets, and many knobs to control the parameters in realtime (which would be great for live work).

Plenty of synth options, MIDI control and a built-in sequencer make this an extremely versatile unit. "

"Simmons SDSV analog drum synth brain with two sound modules/cards, Bass and Snare.

The Simmons SDSV was introduced in the late 70s and can be heard on many popular recordings of the 80s. The SDSV drum brain could hold up to 7 analog sound modules. Two modules, Bass and Snare, are included with this auction.

Each sound module has a factory preset, and 3 user adjustable presets that can be recalled using the four square push-buttons on each of the sound modules.

The Simmons SDSV drum brain is confirmed 100% working, knobs, preset buttons, preset knobs, mixer, external trigger, and outputs are all functioning properly.

PLEASE READ: There are some minor scratches and corrosion on the exterior of the SDSV brain as shown in the photos. Otherwise the SDSV is in good shape for its age.

Ingo Weidner's "Analog vs. Digital" Soundset for Waldorf Blofeld

"This soundset from Ph.D. Ingo Weidner contains various classic analog and digital sounds, similar to well known synthesizers such as PPG Wave 2.3, PPG 2.V, Yamaha DX7, Moog Minimoog, SCI Prophet 5, Roland Jupiter 8, ARP 2600, Elka Synthex or Hammond Novachord. There are also some completely new sounds with a complexity far beyond the limitations of such archetypes.

The set includes one SoundDriver-Library with 128 sounds and 8 midi files. Each midi file contains the same sounds, offering the possibility to replace any of the eight soundbanks in Blofeld with these 128 sounds.
