pellegrini space time keyboard for iPad demo

YouTube Uploaded by robotmakers on Mar 29, 2011

"Demonstration of the pellegrini space-time keyboard. A free open source iPad app based on the Control system, it allows wireless MIDI control of synths. The synths used in this demo include modular Moog."

Update: some additional info from robotmakers via Muffs:

"Inspired by the Haken Continuum, but in simplified two octave form, the pellegrini space-time keyboard is an open-source program that runs within the Control environment available free in the iTunes app store.

Control (OSC + MIDI) - One More Muse - iTunes]

The whole thing relies on your having a WiFi network and a computer with a MIDI interface. Setup is truly painless. Download the Control app to your iPad. If you have a Mac, you don't need any other software. For PC's you just have to install the free rtpMIDI driver which is very straightforward. Instructions are on the excellent Control website. Requires minimal computer skills. Really.

http://charlie-roberts.com/Control/?page_id=51

The way the keyboard works is through a combination of MIDI note and pitchbend messages. Upon initial touch, a MIDI "note on" message for the center key (from C0 to C7 depending on the octave setting) is sent, along with pitchbend info tuned to the particular key selected. Note that proper functioning relies on the receiving MIDI device (like your MIDI to CV converter) being calibrated to a pitchbend range of +/- 1 octave. When you move your finger without lifting, pitchbend information pertaining to the note "slide" is sent, along with programmable continuous controller messages proportional to the "y-axis" movement. Note that pitch information is precisely "auto-tuned" to the note in the scale being played when the user's touch moves vertically along a single key. Pitch information is also precisely "tuned" on first touch of a key. Otherwise, the player's touch freely selects continuous pitches within the two octave range. The touch end event sends a note off command. Octave up/down switches extend the playable range.

Use this link from within "Control" on your iPad to load the interface:

We did it! Years after Eowave bugs effects and following the success of the Persephone mkII, we've come back to the design analogue devices...
We'll be showing the definitive version of the analogue synthesizer Synbiote M-71 and of the monosynth/USB and audio controller Ribbon that were first presented at the namm show in January.

Another surprise: we'll unveil KOMA, an analogue bassline with a 16 steps sequencer with memory, that will be ready to ship in 2-3 months.

And for the modular synthesizers world, we'll be presenting Eobody3 MODULAR, a bridge between modular systems and devices that are compatible with other protocoles like MIDI, LAN, CV/gate, sensors... Just imagine that you can control your modular system with your IPad without any computer: This is now possible! Come and try!

We'll be exhibiting hall 5.1, booth C70.

Sequencer relocation

YouTube Uploaded by organfairy on Mar 29, 2011

"I have had some comments saying that my DIY projects are always very organized and tidy. This video will prove that this is not always the case :-)

I have recently made a new sequencer for my first synthesizer. But the old one is still to good just to throw out. But since I am pretty displeased with the appearance of the construction I will now take it apart and rebuild it in a smaller box.

The music is made in 1998 using the old sequencer - which is now in a new box but the electronics is more or less the same. The other instruments are Rhythm Ace drum machine, Yamaha PSS-12, Yamaha VSS-30, Casio SA-1, Casio SA-3 (with BOSS OC-2 octaver pedal), Bontempi KS-3400, Kawai MS-20 toy keyboards, Roland SH-2000 synthesizer, and Dynacord Echocord Mini echo machine."

"Legendary and Rare Synthesizer from the Golden Age of Electronic Music.

This Machine is absolutely Unique and it's Sound opens up completely New Worlds.

It practically is a Hybrid between an Analog drum Module and an ultra Fat Analog Synth, oh !! not just one Synth it is actually 4 synths in one machine. the Unit has a very Unique sound due to the wide range of it's LFO's frequency range and sweap characteristics. Each of the 4 synths can be modelled individually and one can create new an before unheard Sounds. The 4 synths can be triggered either by an electric Signal or thru conventional Sound. One can connect it to an Analog Drummachine or to a Drumpad which was the initial Intention of the Japanese Manufacturer.

The sound is put simply just Fat. It generates Deep Base Sounds and high Sweeps and everything in between with an incredible Dynamic as the Sounds take a Life on their own while the rhythms develop and the synths Modulate.

If you want to check it out go to Youtube and listen to it, look/search for these Videos. [both embedded further below]

Syntecno TeeBee Mk3 TB-303 clone + SYNC

via this auction

"The TeeBee module is, amongst other things, a Roland TB-303 clone. It also has a ring modulator setting which is supposed to be based on the ring modulator of the Korg MS-20 according to what I have read. It can also act as an analog filter with a front mounted audio input. As well as all that it can act as a MIDI to CV controller, a 2 channel MIDI mixer and a MIDI to DIN SYNC controller for other Roland equipment such as the TR-808, TR-909 and the 303's brother the TR-606 so it is probably worth it for all it's syncing capabilities alone. Using it as a TB303 clone it sounds great. On the front is an "aggressiveness" control so you can alter the sharpness of the filter to your own taste. The actual synth is all metal construction and is built like a tank."

DP WASP analog/digital Synthesiser & Spider Sequencer

via this auction
"Unlike many WASPs , this one's touch sensitive keyboard is not worn out , and works perfectly. The sound from this small synthesiser is fantastic - big moog-like basses , and because of its unique aggressive multi-mode filter , it can do sharper tones as well. The LFO and envelope can modulate the filter both normally and inverted. The oscillators are digital and so very stable , there is also noise, and the envelopes can self-trigger , which is excellent for generating evolving sounds and effects.
The WASP can create a wide variety of analogue sounds , and even has a built in speaker , which can be mic-ed up for effect. It also has a standard 1/4 jack output , and a digital interface which can hook up to a computer or midi convertor or the Spider and other WASPs or GNATs .
The Spider is sold as seen - I do not know wether it works as it doesn't have the digital lead.If it does work , it can also interface with CV/gate equipment as well as the WASP."

Bugbrand Modular Mayhem

"Ain't she beautiful, my new baby? I just recieved this wonderful machine from Tom Bugs - a Bugbrand Modular. It is obviously capable of some serious sonic mess. And I love the colours!

This patch relies mostly on the delay module, modulated and fed by various oscillators, with extra spice added by the button-trigged envelope to the left, and a few dry feeds to give body to the sound (these are soloed after a while).

Enjoy

Fender Chroma Polaris ribbon repair! PERMANENT! Tech run through.

YouTube Uploaded by sounddoctorin on Mar 29, 2011

"Bob Weigel of http://www.sounddoctorin.com shares the discovery of a wonderful process for what appears to be a permanent repair of the ribbon issue with the Chroma Polaris' front panel. Typically ozone etc. causes these to degrade over time and I just did one that was quite brittle on the middle connector..particularly the smaller one. The Dura Tuff product from Eclectic products is used to create a new plastic surface and protect what is left of the old ribbons and if they are still conducting hopefully they will continue to after it dries and they are reconnected! NOTICE I CANNOT GUARANTEE ANYONE'S SUCCESS and I PROBABLY am the only person on the planet to have repaired as many CP's as I have with 100% success so far. This is a risky and tricky process requiring great care. The slightest slip could crack a ribbon so far back that it destroys the front panel! There are no replacements available so be careful!!

Further I suspect that people with cracking buttons could also use the dura tuff to coat them to prevent further degradation. The material will form a plastic layer basically that remains somewhat flexible I believe indefinitely but is very very tough!

We also show the basic chip layouts and so on."
