Conduit was also released as a desktop synth. You can filter through previous posts here for more info and demos.

via Folktek

"*note that due to an error in manufacturing, the mounting holes have had to be routed - the oblong holes are slightly longer than standard.

Conduit is a delay, filter, and 9 point harmonic oscillation module which creates three independent signal paths that can be inter-mixed how you like. It's also capable of jumping directly into the circuitry of Matter for processing. The root circuitry is based on the conduit desktop piece which is no longer in production.

Delay

At it's root Conduit is a delay with a warm, analog sound which is clean at tight times and tending toward something disgusting and noisy and slower times. External audio or internal oscillation can be processed by the delay. When multiple oscillation points are mixed, the delay feedback gets distorted and noisy. As a delay it serves best as a source of texture.

Filter

The Delay travels into a state-variable filter with fixed resonance. A clean signal passing by the delay will still be filtered. The filter has a vactrol-based cv in to control the cutoff. So this filter receiving voltage control is very wormy in nature. It's best to multiply and mix a signal going into Conduit if it's to be used for processing - giving you the filtered and unfiltered version.

Oscillation

The purpose of this module is not simply as a delay or a filter - these are just components to a greater whole. With Conduit, aspects of the giant delay IC processing are accessed as a series of sound sources - harmonic oscillations based on the clocking of the delay. Therefore, delay time is the same as master pitch for these oscillations (also represented by "time cv"). There are a total of 8 harmonic oscillations and one noise source. All 9 points representing audio level harmonic oscillations are represented by a 9x4 female header so that each of these points or multiple points can be used as a sound source. Using Resist alongside allows one to control the level of the oscillation.

The Arachnid is a part of the filanthropod, meanogaster and bug series.

There is a video of the arachnid being played here:

-Arachnid- Folktek instrument by Arius Blaze

"Patchable synth from Folktek going mad chaotic. This is one example of what any of the patchable folktek filantropoid/bug series is capable of...These works are incredibly vast and full of possibility for strange and beautiful sounds on the chaotic end of things - more video examples of other instruments within the same series on our vid page. Note the blue tri-speaker in this video - a custom job by Ben Houston that sounds delicious and looks beautiful! see website for more details Folktek.com and ariusblaze.com"

This piece is part of the bug series, an ongoing body of work. Also in the series is the dronescape sequencer, the growling insect, the bug, walking stick and a many others. The sound is phenomenol and continues to amaze us. It is a sonic symphony of nasty and grimy sweetness, endless layers of sound possibilities emenating from High quality OSC originally based on high tech speech synthesis. Seemingly random bits can be rediscovered time and time again and then there are those moments that you will most likely never rediscover.

The main controls for altering the synthesis are 4 patchable knobs, 2 alternate knobs to control voltage and primary patch sensitivity, 2 patch points per knob with two having a common which allows the player to patch one or both sides, and a 12 point patchbay to arrange your controls however you'd like allowing extreme flexibility over the controls and sound. The battery pack is built into the box. The box is at least 100 years old and was originally designed for shock therapy.

You'll be able to cipher through waveform and textures with extreme sensitivity in thousands of ways. Waveforms (individual, or multiple layers) can be captured and maintained, often intermodulating in beautiful and/or disturbing ways. Albums are waitng to be created here as the sound is quite different from anything else you'll find.

People have also had results using these works as control voltage in modular synth setups.

There are 2 switch button combos that are the primary activating and wave lock controls. One is intended to activate waves either as a button or a switch, the other to capture waves or change the mode. This piece has a 1/4" output, battery pack, eye lamp.

This is one of the more extensive pieces and a fine work for generating some of the strangest sounds imaginable. This series of synthesizers make sounds that no other synth does. period.

The work in the photo is the original arachnid. There have been three total arachnids created by request. This is number three and looks slightly different but has the same 100 year old shock therapy box and same general layout. It has exactly the same controls and potential."

Folktek Mobius Harmonizer #1 = as created and played by Arius Blaze

Published on Mar 21, 2013 Sir Folktek·62 videos - video by Big Pauper

"A piece by Arius Blaze based on the original feedback harmonizer (http://folktek.com/instruments/electr...) , expanded upon in interesting ways.
Though shot well (thanks to Big Pauper), both mobius videos fail to capture the broader scope of capabilities and sounds. For more sound, photos and words go to the folktek site; folktek.com
or go directly to the Mobius Harmonizer page; http://folktek.com/instruments/electrocoustic/mobius-harmonizer"

Folktek Mobius Harmonizer #2 = as created and played by Arius Blaze, video by Big Pauper

Folktek on eBay

via Folktek:

"The Mobius is a concept piece designed to allow the playing of an acoustic sound source in an electronic way. Essentially, synthesis from acoustics similar in nature to the way the Folktek Garden series generates lush waves from micro sound.

The Mobius features four strings with a fretless soundboard driven into a delay capable of extremely tight, notated delay, to about a second and a half of near endless looping. The delay travels into pitch shifting, out to an amplifier that runs an internal spring reverb and back into the delay.
The pitch shifter can subtly or drastically shift the pitch to a great degree and has six playable keys designed to shift the incoming signal. Keys are additive so playing more that one at a time results in different pitch arrangements which allow for different combinations of pitch control within the master pitch (controlled by a master pitch knob). The original signal from the delay can be mixed with the shifted signal for more harmonic dynamics or played dry all together.

The spring reverb is not an overwhelming reverb but is instead designed to add depth and resonance to the sound - creating deeper, crystalline waves or generating waves of feedback. In longer delay modes where the repeats are near endless, the reverb will swell with each repeat, which generates, for examples, gradual waves where there once were very specific strong attack notes. Play with a bow adds an entirely new sound and dramatasizes the reverb feedback. There is an independant level control for the amplifier that runs the spring reverb.

In addition, there are 1/8" CV (+5v control Voltage) jacks to control delay time and pitch to synchronize with analog/modular synthesizers.

The result is an expansive work with a rich sound capable of endless sonic possibilties"

Arius Blaze Folktek Impossible Box Demos & 1st Release on Folktek Records

Impossible Box Demos:

"Single take, unedited recording of playing the Impossible box (http://folktek.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-impossible-box-official-post.html), layered with a water field recording - cubensis + lost lake. sweet and cello-ish. The odd combination (the sounds of water meeting the sounds of something like a cello in a hall) make the mind reconcile the difference between two different spaces, creating one space that inevitably has form."

"dark, tense film sound from the impossible box (http://folktek.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-impossible-box-official-post.html) - processed field recording and drone"

"single take recording of the impossible box being played (http://folktek.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-impossible-box-official-post.html) = unedited and rather long."

Two tracks recorded for the first release on Folktek Records:

"One of two tracks (the other being "Spatial Features") [below] recorded for the first release on Folktek Records - to be cut to dubplates. The 10" dubplate release is an exploration into proposed space. Both tracks are rather mellow and somewhat minimal spacial dub. Both are rather long, uncut, single take recordings of being at play with the Impossible box; http://folktek.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-impossible-box-official-post.html"

Folktek Mescaline Honeymoon patches

Published on Dec 30, 2017 While We Were Sleeping

"A selection of patches of my new Folktek Mescaline. Mainly recorded on our first weekend together.

The patches are:
0:00 - Intro - Sound and visuals not related - sound is: Channel sequenced by Motion
00:22 - 1 - Sweet Highs - Mescaline Channel high notes inc Polyphony
00:56 - 2 - Mescaline after Setup - Channel after/while tuning and calibration (Mescaline does sound badly out of the box but tuning it is part of it's charm)
01:25 - 3 - Tuning Mental - More like messing about with Mescaline Mental. Motion is sequencing Mental while I play with the trimmers on the back.
01:50 - 4 - Sequenced LFO - Using Motion CV Sequencer to change the rate of Motion's LFO.
02:09 - 5 - Broken Beats - all 3 Channel, Mental & Motion
02:23 - 6 - Thunder Touch - The Folktek Mescaline is a mysterious device.
02:38 - 7 - Dark - The Folktek Mescaline has some deep and dark tendencies just waiting for you to uncover.
03:00 - 8 - The march of the dead - The Folktek Mescaline does not only do dark, it can do creepy and disturbing to.
03:36 - 9 - Short Delay - A big part of the Folktek Mescaline sound is its reverb but the other effects are just as cool.
03:57 - 10 - Softly - Another Channel sequenced by Motion
04:12 - 11 - Out Of Darkness - long take - using the filter on Channel to crearte movement (FYI: the filter only works on the dsp effected sound)
05:51 - 12 - Slow Descent - long take - Another dark patch playing with the pitch, feedback and filter on Channel
07:35 - 13 - Drone - The filter on the Channel DSP reverb is mainly to cut the noise out with combination of lower feedback. But letting some noise through is fun in my opinion
08:17 - easter egg - Love this patch but had no visuals for it so left it hanging at the end. hope you got that far.

The Folktek Mescaline is a set of 3 eurorack modules with its own frame to mount them. it uses jumper cables as well as standard eurorack patch cables for connecting to your other eurorack gear. it was originally launched on indiegogo
The Mescaline modules are:

Channel
A 10 note polyphonic touch synthesizer with a sweet, warm sound and a huge custom designed reverb + 3 other dsp efects

Motion
Motion is made up A CV sequencer, A gate sequencer with opto-couplers an LFO and much much more.

Mental
An incredibly unique drum/drone synth Based on the root synthesis of other folktek devices.

The whole thing is designed for sound exploration and at list so far I am never sure if its me that is in control or Mescaline tweaking my brane.
The key is to let go of how you view a sensitisers and enjoy the Journey.

"After years of having a messy, pretty ugly and irretrievably scattered website, and after months of organizing and pounding out the details, we've now finally gone live with the fresh and clean folktek.com.

There you'll find the synth art and soon to be visual arts and odds and ends of the folktek artists. A solid percentage of the portfolio is now viewable(!). We'll be adding to and fancying up a bit but for now there is a good deal of functionality. We've also added a players page for players of folktek works who want to post up videos, sounds, words or photos. You're strongly encouraged to go have a look - if you know about folktek - there are likely things up you have never seen. If you're new to folktek - welcome!"

New Folktek Alter 1 and 2 Now on Indiegogo

Folktek's new Alter 1 and 2 are now on Indiegogo.

Details via the campaign:

"First; Yes, we just had a successful indiegogo campaign for the Folktek Mescaline and we're currently working to fulfill those orders (and it's going well and I think we're still on schedule!).

Second; Two reasons as to why we would have another campaign for a new Folktek release:

1. These cost a lot of money to make. By pre-ordering, you're helping us to pay for the manufacturing and production costs and we can give you a better deal for a limited time.

2. We can gauge interest and have an idea of how many to make. If there's interest in just 50 modules, why make 300? If we make only 50 and there's interest in 300, it takes us months longer to fulfill that interest because manufacturing and production takes basically the same amount time whether we create 50 or 500.

If you're unfamilar with Folktek, please see Folktek.com and find us on instagram and facebook.

This is a simple campaign and we're not force feeding it. If you like the modules, preorder now is cool - 2 weeks only at the limited price either here or on the folktek site. If you'd rather wait until they're out, please do."

Introducing the Folktek "Matter" Eurorack Module

Published on Dec 11, 2015 Sir Folktek

"Matter - the first Eurorack module by Folktek. Available on folktek.com:
http://folktek.com/instruments/modula...

Here it's played as a drum synth to create little sounds and big sound.
This video is a little pointless as a visual and better treated as a sound presentation of Matter. Matter has the same synthesis as Folktek "Materia". The patch being played is simple and intended to showcase Matter...if it were a song it could certainly use a few things. I'm also just a few weeks new to modular and have no oscillators to speak of.

All sounds coming out of Matter except the reverberated and filtered wave part which is Aether (Folktek instrument) being lightly sequenced by the tiptop z8000. Matter is treated with reverb and delay in a few parts (which are self evident) but otherwise straight to the mixer. All triggers by the arturia beatstep pro, two of which are triggering 4ms peg with the adsr cv being sent to Matter - the end cycle for the adsr is being sent to intellijel adsr and triggering another Matter patch and another end cycle is being sent through Matter's vactrol modulation and jumpered. Otherwise, straight gate signals from the Arturia and direct to Matter patches.

Matter modulation is sending cv to the koma filter."

"Matter is the first of an ongoing series of modules and what will become an entire folktek system. This one starts from the dirt - the beats.

Officially up for sale now. One video is presented here and sound files to come (currently having some recording issues). The video is definitely not the greatest thing in the world. The initial price includes shipping worldwide. Each module comes with jumper cables, power connector, screws, manual and a special something.

**Note that each individual module is treated with a patina (aging) of the copper which results in the blue and green coloring. Givin that each is hand patinated, the look of each module with differ.

***There will be future add-ons available for this module which plug in to the front panel and direct the sound and function to a specific purpose. Future add-ons are discussed below.

*The first folktek module for the eurorack system will be hated for its standing at 23hp.
______________

"Matter" is drum wave synthesis. While it could simply be called a drum synthesizer, the method of play is designed equally as much to make the analog drum-based synthesis playable as waves as it is to make triggerable drum sounds. This means Matter can take a "kick" oscillator, for example, and use it to generate a bassline, a "snare" can create washes of noise with peaking resonance and so on. This allows for a very broad complexity of rhythm because triggering is not confined to a single point. That said, this module specializes in clicks and cuts style beats - little clicky sounds.

First experiments with folktek matter ii

Published on Aug 10, 2018 Sir Folktek

Pics previously posted here.

"Matter ii is a deep module so it difficult to simply lay it out the one would an osc for example. It's a bit experimental anda bit out of the box. For those who understand the original Matter, it may gel. These are the first experiments and this is one approach; yours will be different no doubt. Matter ii is for making beats, for demolishing sound, for drone and noise and yet all of that is difficult to convey due to its depth. It's about finding your own sound.

Where the original utilized dupont, matter ii uses a single point pin matrix. This pin matrix acts as the original Matter alongside (folktek) Resist but there is now cv control over resist. Add the highly addictive vactrol over the final output and Matter ii is a different beast entirely while still maintaining the original analog sonic characteristics of Matter.

For these recordings, varigate 4 was used for the main gates/triggers and a variety of envelopes were employed.
(folktek) Quiet is HUGE when using matter, as well as (folktek) Gait and (folktek) Root - these are very much suggested modules.

Note that at 10:03 a simple waveform from a prototype is utilized to send into Matter ii to show the shaping characteristics. Likewise at 14:42 the same osc is introduced to the path and the drone becomes the processor.
Aside from a couple instances of utilizing folktek matter for reverb and delay (which you should be able to see), these are straight recording without any processing."

FolkTek Alter X & Alter Y first go with FolkTek Mescaline

video upload by While We Were Sleeping

"I backed the Folktek Alter Guitar pedals & desktop effects XY Indiegogo campaign more than two years ago and just received it. It was a long wait but I did not mind. I had this picture in my head of pairing it with the FolkTek Mescaline for the two years I have waited but as soon as I started playing I realised this is probably not the best approach as the Mescaline has a full and rich sound that lives less room for the Alters to express themselves. I can do with something more basic to get to experience the Alters's capabilities. I had fun just messing about it and will soon have more sensible paring that will allow me to explore it better. In this video, the Folktek Mescaline goes into the Folktek Alter Y in mono and the Y goes into the Alter X in stereo. No additional processing.

For more details on the pedals checkout the original campaign https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fo... and the https://folktek.com site."
