"Well, I'm a bit meh about this one. I've had a bit of a dry patch/mammoth video gaming session over the last couple of months so I've not been making any music. This was an experiment to make something with the Volca Modular and Korg Ds10 with mismatched time signatures, not sure I like the result but there it is.
I've got Korg Ds10 controlling the sync of the Modular and the Modular passing it's audio through the effects on the Nts1.
The video projected over the top is from some old mini dv tapes I got hold of recently. Its film footage of Blackpool Illuminations. There is a section that filmed out of focus that gives a beautiful bokeh effect, trouble is the subtly of it is completely lost when projected like this so I'll probably use that footage for something else in a different way in the future.
"For today's song-a-day I once again turned to acid (:D) but with a bit of a twist. Playing the part of a tb-303 in this video is Korg Ds10 running on a Nintendo Ds. Who knew Ds10 could make such a convincing 303 sound? Helped along by a dose of Zoom 1201 reverb it sounds the part to me! The Volca Keys plays a long 8 bar pad-ish sound using it's 'Fifth' setting, the Volca Sample is loaded up with 808 and 909 samples and the Pocket Operator Sub plays a deep bass line alongside everything. Reckon this one could do with being made into something longer, and turn those dam claps down!
Sync is running from the Ds to the Volcas and then to the Pocket Operator btw. It's the only way I can get it all to sync up. I'm also using the Sample as I 2 channel device with the kick panned left and all the other drums right so they can have reverb and not the kick."
"Here's a viewer request video on how to sync Korg Ds10 running on a Nintendo DS into a Korg Volca. The process involves creating a panned click on Ds10 and playing all other audio from the Ds from the other channels. It's great for adding to your Volca set up as the synths in Ds10 are flexible enough to make all kinds of synth sounds to add layers to a Volca setup, including synthesised drums. Plus a second hand Ds can be picked up for peanuts at the moment. The game can also be picked up fairly cheaply so the total price is a lot cheaper than adding another Volca to your setup."
"Immediate download of 11-track album in any format. Suggested price is $5, but if you want it for free, that's cool too." "The debut KORG DS10 album from Decktonic. All songs were made with the KORG DS10/DS10+ software, with no post-processing or external effects, with the exception of Digital Sound #10, which was created by slowing down a 3 second sample from "Robot Bounce" and applying effects in Ableton Live. credits released 06 March 2011 Artwork By Christian Montoya

"Just for a bit of fun i teamed up Beaterator running on a PSP Go and Ds10 running on a Ds lite for a bit of acid. Beaterator is loaded with Roland 808 samples and Ds10 takes the place of a Roland 303. I recommend it as a way to kill a few hours."
Here I'm syncing the Pocket Operator Rhythm to the Korg Volca bass which is syncing to a clock source in the DS in Korg Ds10. Reverb supplied by the Zoom Studio 1201."

"Here is the third improvisation using my suitcase music studio. It was a sunny day here in the Netherlands so lots of natural lighting in this movie. On the Nintendo DSi XL I run the Korg DS-10 and on the iPod touch I run the FM3 Buddha Machine app which combines nicely with the lo-fi sound of the hardware Buddha Machine (that orange box). The DS10 and the Kaossilator are synced the old school way by pressing the play button at the right time (before I started filming). Once they're in sync they stay in sync for a long time.
There is one stupid mistake in this movie but I'm not telling you what it was :)
The suitcase has the following devices:
Korg Kaoss Pad Mini
Korg Kaossilator
Korg Monotron
Korg SR1 Sound on Sound
MFB Nanozwerg
FM3 Buddha Machine
Rolls MX41b
Art PowerMix III
Nintendo DSI XL with Korg DS10
Apple iPod Touch with Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer
MAM Map1
A couple of notes on this one:
1. In the beginning you hear John say something followed by everyone laughing. What he said was, "I'm John L. Rice and I've been addicted to synthesizers for..." Classic.
2. You can see the chrome screws on his MOTM that he refers to in this video here.
Googlish: "I found our jet ☆ Porimogu's brief interview with Daisuke also. Cal Bo Perfume reproduced and come KORG Kanamori's description is a must-read page. In addition, DS-10 star who set the tone with your help my people!"
Anyone know more about the magazine / book?
Update via Dustbunnies in the comments: "I'm pretty certain I've picked up this one and thumbed through it at the local bookstore. IIRC, it looked mostly like your basic "getting started" guide; much in the same vein as those put out once or twice a year by Computer Music magazine. I think it's just a one-off, in any case, since there hasn't been a second issue in several months.
However, I will state that I can't read kanji for crap, so all standard disclaimers apply. But the fact I didn't buy it anyway means that even the pictures weren't telling me anything I didn't already know.
There are a couple of DS-10 guidebooks that have been put into common circulation over here. At least one of these was interesting enough that I did shell out the cash for it. But not this one." image via the KORG DS10 Blog (Googlish)
via Tony: "I’ve just had a look at the AQ interactive site, as I was wondering if there was any prospect of the Korg DS-10 being developed further.
Although there is only a single picture (I can’t find a link beyond this point), It’s noticeable that it’s running on the new DSi model and the screen on display isn’t one that’s part of the original program; or at least that’s one I’m not familiar with?"
It looks like the Song screen with labels for the parts. I can't seem to find this exact screen myself. Anyone with a DS10 out there that can confirm either way?
"Written February 2009 for the RPM Challenge. Korg DS-10."
more details "Stuff you can listen for in this song are a lot of FM (both filter FM and oscillator FM), a very short delay effect (used kind of like a spatial comb filter), 4 custom percussion sounds (my Nord Lead percussion programming experience pays off big time with DS-10, by the way), and a good amount of filter and FM modulation via the Kaoss sequencer tracks."
You can find another track by Ascdi featuring the DS10 here.
YouTube via VJFranzK "Testing out the Bliptronic 5000 with a Mini Kaoss Pad for effects, vs two newly released gadget based soft synths - KORG DS10 Plus ( on Nintendo DSi) and Aurora ( on Windows Mobile Smartphone ) - just a casual jam set up on a table at the cafe, but the people, at first skeptical at the few beeps that begun it were won over by this Tenori esque soundscape."

"Here's a tune I whipped up on the Korg DS-10 synthesizer app for the Nintendo DS.
Yep - all Korg and Nintendo (and me) on a synth you can fit in your pocket. Enjoy!"
