Dolly Test 2

YouTube Uploaded by JohnLRice on Mar 7, 2011

"This is just a test of my new Kessler Pocket Dolly 2 slider. It is a 3 foot device my camera attaches to so I can get smooth horizontal etc movement. It takes practice and I'm thinking I'm going to have to get the electric motor drive for it since I can't seem to move it smoothly enough by hand for my tastes!

The audio is unrelated to this video and from a different audio only test I did earlier this year for my Modcan 69B Scanner module: http://soundcloud.com/johnlrice/modcan-69b-tests-in-4-sections"

SQ816 Sequencer - Simple First Tests

Published on Feb 11, 2013 JohnLRice·187 videos

"I have a prototype of the new Division 6 eurorack version of George Mattson's SQ816 sequencer. It is very cool and feature rich! In this video I was simply just taking the MIDI out into my Korg MS2000R. Nothing fancy, just getting used to things for now."

Perfect Imperfections (featuring Veela)

Published on Jun 24, 2013 JohnLRice·209 videos

Perfect Imperfections
featuring the vocals of Veela arranged by John L Rice
--------------------------
I walk through these old city streets
I'll be who I wanna be
(An) imperfection of this world

Back home they don't know me
Back home they want me to believe in things
I told them no

Respect me and inspect me for your imperfections
imperfections

It's like a cage for me back home
I will not be who you'll be
I want my own . . . world

Imperfections
Perfection

Follow me with your eyes
I believe how much you fantasize
about this
about this
about this

(We're) imperfections of this world
Don't you see I'm perfect, like you?

[instrumental]

(a) rock in the ocean
doesn't get the sound,

(a) rock in the ocean
doesn't 'get' the sound,

That you will know
--------------------------

Another E580 Test

YouTube Uploaded by JohnLRice on Apr 3, 2011

"This was a big experiment that is screwed up in many ways but I thought I would share it anyways. My external audio recorder wasn't set right so I only have the sound from the camera's mic and I'm using a new camera and lighting so I still need to experiment with settings to get it to look good. Also first time recording and rendering at 1080p. (not sure why the border is flickering :-/)

Oh well! ;-)"

Snare Drum Test

YouTube Published on Jun 25, 2012 by JohnLRice

"Just for fun. No time for anything lengthy or serious, but I liked this patch. Moon 554 being clocked by a Modcan 53B and then clocking a Moon 568 and COTK C961S and combined with a Synthesizers.com Q961."

Note JohnLRice will be performing at the Tacoma Noise Rodeo in Washington State this Thursday, June 29 with his eurorack modular.

JohnLRice: Hahaha! Oh, What You Must Think Of Me!

YouTube Uploaded by JohnLRice on May 28, 2011

"I look forward to your comments! ;-)

This is just two modules, a Modcan Vocoder 71B and a Synth Tech MOTM-101 noise source. The EV dynamic mic goes through a Shure mic pre and then to the vocoder, along with some pink noise. Having the speakers up a bit was causing some feedback that helped produce some of the sustain and depth.

Thanks for watching and commenting."

Moon Lite, Moon Brite, By Request For You Tonight

YouTube Uploaded by JohnLRice on Feb 8, 2012

"See my recent video titled "JLR" [link] for more details on this patch. Basically I'm just turning on the switches of the Moon Modular 568 trigger sequencer so that it spells out simple words or symbols and then I use the resulting output.

This may get boring since it is a lot of the same, just somewhat different patterns.

Enjoy! :-)"

Something Nice For Your Cat (part1)

"Just yer basic "turn on a RM1X factory patch and solo over the top". The performance and composition may be nothing to get excited about but I was really enjoying the sound qualiity of the modular synthesizer and I hope you will too! Featured are the wonderful sounds of MOTM-300 sine waves passed through MOTM-440 and MOTM-485 filters. For more information on MOTM synthesizers go to www.synthtech.com/
