Manikin Schrittmacher DEMO track

Published on Jan 31, 2014 Alba Ecstasy·99 videos

"Second attempt on using the Manikin Schrittmacher step sequencer. I created (very easy, without reading the user manual lol) 4 sequences and assigned to each one a MIDI channel to send it to Virus Ti2 2 in multi mode. Easy to remove or to silent the steps.
Many thanks to Dragos Manea (owner of the Schrittmacher).

Memotron by Manikin Electronic

via this auction

"like new Memotron by Manikin-Electronic. This particular example, serial number 07 2109, is in mint condition and includes; (3) original sound library CDs, the original CF data card, an original volume pedal, the original owner's manual, and an IEC power cable. With a combined retail value well over $3,000.00, take advantage of this opportunity to buy a fantastic keyboard for much less!

While digital-based Mellotron emulators have existed for over 20 years, nothing compares to the Memotron. Intuitive, practical and accessible, the Memotron is exceedingly easy to use. With a thoughtful controls layout and software with simple navigation, this keyboard functions just as sharp as it looks. The craftsmanship of the Memotron respectfully puts an original M400 to shame. The high quality cabinet nicely showcases the attractive hardware, keyboard and back panel. Plus, this magnificent keyboard only weighs 12kg!

Perhaps most importantly, the Memotron sounds great. With a comprehensive collection of classic Mellotron sounds, instant access is available at the press of a button, as opposed to the ordeal entertained when changing a single tape frame. Having been conceptualized by one of the world's foremost Mellotron experts, the sound samples were meticulously crafted to honestly represent genuine Mellotron tape racks. All idiosyncratic characteristics included, the samples feature the unique sounds of a Mellotron without replicating it's inconsistent mechanical nature.

The Memotron's action is rather similar to a Mellotron's, well, the weight of the keys are consistent with the original. However, the touch sensitivity was not reproduced, nor was the sensation of resistance when played. Possibly considered an improvement by some, the action of the Memotron is more conducive for recording and accurate playing. While a Mellotron requires slight finessing and a particularized playing approach, the Memotron is straight-forward.

The Memotron is, without a doubt, the 20th century's Mellotron, and is perfect for both modern studios and live applications.

Check out this great article for an elbaorate review: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep09/articles/mememotron.htm"

video upload by John L Rice

Manikin Schrittmacher sequencer on the top left. Vermona Perfourmer & Mellotron Micro featured in this one. You can find additional John L Rice Mellotron posts here.

Update: YT description added:

"Realtime test after recently reconfiguring my custom pedalboard patch bay. Recorded on my iPad with no edits. Besides the Mellotron Micro Keyboard, the case is a modified MXC-008-10 mixer case from Audiopile.net and contains the following:

Left side:
Manikin Electronic Schrittmacher sequencer
Vermona PERfourMER MKII quad synth

Right side:
Mackie 802-VLZ3 mixer and power supply
Keeley Electronics Fuzz Master pedal
Electro Harmonix Mel9 pedal (mellotron emulator)
Dunlop/MXR Octave Fuzz pedal
Mooer Ocean Machine pedal (reverb, delays, looper)
TC Electronic T3 pedal (modulated reverbs)
Strymon Engineering Zuma R300 power supply (for pedals)
Custom patch bay for pedals and mixer

The patch bay has Canare GS-4 cables soldered directly to the jacks with the other ends terminated with Squareplug SP400 Low Profile Flat TS plugs that connect to the pedals. The patch bay jacks are all normal'd together right to left, and by using patch cables I can easily reconfigure how the pedals are interconnected. The normal connections are:
Mixer EFX send - Fuzz Master - Mel9 - Octave Fuzz - Ocean Machine - T3 - mixer EFX returns*
but in this video I used the mixer insert for the channel the Mellotron is plugged into to connect to the Fuzz Master - T3 and then the rest is configured as:
Mixer EFX send - Mel9 - Octave Fuzz - Ocean Machine - mixer EFX returns*
*the jacks connected to the stereo mixer returns have a second set of cables that go to mixer input 7/8 and by turning up the Aux send for the channel I can create feedback."

EL-KA live mit Lasershow im Gasometer Oberhausen HD

YouTube Uploaded by IIOOraymanOOII on Aug 2, 2011
Synth spotting after the two minute mark. Via Hajo: "This is a HD Video from our last year EM live event in the GASOMETER Oberhausen Germany."

"EL-KA live im Gasometer Oberhausen
im Rahmen der Ausstellung "Sternstunden" .
Mit live gespielter Lasershow.
Der Abend im Gasometer Stand unter dem Motto "Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis"
Die Synthesizer Formation EL-KA (HaJo Liese und Till Kopper) featuring Hermann Lipinski (lila),welche die Musikrichtung der alten Berliner Schule "Klaus Schulze,
Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream" favorisiert, gab ein Konzert
in einer wirklich spektakulären Umgebung."

Googlish:
"EL-KA in live Gasometer Oberhausen
within the exhibition "Out".
With live laser show.
The evening at the Gasometer booth under the motto "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"
The formation synthesizer EL-KA (HaJo Liese and Till Kopper) featuring Hermann Lipinski (purple), which the music of the old Berlin school "Klaus Schulze
Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream favors, "gave a concert
in a truly spectacular setting."

Update via Qwave in the comments: "Here a hopefully slightly better translation (I am a native german speaker, sorry for my english):
"EL-KA live at the Gasometer [huge gas storage tank, 100 m high] in Oberhausen [Germany] as part of exhibition "Highlights" [actual translation does not fit, due to some word pun used].
With live performed laser show.
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" was the title of the evening in the Gasometer.
The synth duo EL-KA (Hajo Liese and Till Kopper [that's me]) featuring Hermann Lipinski (of Lila) was playing a concert in a real spectacular setting. They prefer the style of the Berlin School "Klaus Schulze, Edgar Froese, Tangerine Dream."

The text on YoTube was written by the video uploader.

I used a 1979 Minimoog, Waldorf XTk (30 voice version), Manikin Electronics Memotron, Korg k25 keyboard to transpose Hajo's Schrittmacher, iPhone to play the Apollo 11 samples, Behringer mixer.

HaJo Liese used:
Manikin Electronics Schrittmacher (step sequencer), Vermona Perfourmer
Vermona DRM1, EMU Vintage module, Kawai K1 rack, Roland as master keyboard, submixer.

Hermann Lipinski used:
Nord Modular, PC-laptop with different soft synths and a sampler app, E-guitar, sub mixer.

We played to the laser show done by friends. We did three shows of about 45 mins that day. We had some sequences prepared. And some ideas in our head. But as usually, it was mainly improvised live music."

Klaus Schulze Black Quasimidi Polymorphs

Saw this posted on VSE by Shagghie.

"I'm forced to depart with the most incredible example of a quasimidi polymorph ever. It is one of K.S.'s black polymorphs from his 'wall' tour, complete with the original 'moogy' knobs he prefered, and running the latest OS and restore to original settings/condition. This is the one to own...and it sounds amazing. One of those pieces I swore I'd never sell...but life and finances are really pressing right now, and I'm not able to use it like it deserves to be used. I will include original manual, original PSU, and the black hard-case I store it in with custom foam fitting.

It's one of these, though I am not sure which one...perhaps the one he's reaching for?

You can see the actual one here in this video right around 1'20" into it:

Previously posted Serious Quasimidi / K.S. fans only. It doesn't get any better than this... $1500 / obo" Interesting. I didn't realize they were Black and made for Klaus Schulze with MOOG style knobs. If anyone has any close up shots of it, post a comment. I sent Shagghie a PM to see if he can take some for us before it sells. Update via Shagghie: "Hey Matrix....I did some digging at the request of someone and apparently Manikin Electronic (http://www.manikin-electronic.com) made a half dozen of these "Special edition black K.S. Polymorphs" that were a continuation on the 'K.S. factory run' they did for his wall originally in the first place. Still, a very limited/rare piece, however! Hence, i can't be positive that this actual unit is from K.S.'s wall! I don't want to give any wrong impressions given the way the post currently reads. A huge favor it would be if you could append this to the end as an 'update' from me? -shag" Update: Here's a shot of it (click for a bigger pic):

Fun with a Kobol

Published on Dec 30, 2017 yusynthman

I shot this video to test the Kobol synthesizer that I repaired for a friend. The Kobol is sequenced by a Q960 Synthesizers.com . The sound is recorded by the camera microphone therefore don't expect high quality... and sometimes one can hear me breathing (100% biological noise generator). As the sequence loops I have fun improvising with some of my synths : Waldorf MicroWave XT, Manikin Memotron, Arturia MatrixBrute, Yamaha CS15, lCrumar Multiman S and "Main Console" of the Roland System 700 modular"
