"For your consideration is the closest you'll find to a new-old-stock Sequential Circuits Prophet 600. As you can see from the pics, the synth looks as if it was never used, and according to the original owner, it pretty much hasn't. Also included is the original box and packing foam, the original preset-cassette, and the original manual. The original receipt of purchase is inside the manual, dating to 5/25/1985.
The synth was recently serviced by Analog Synth Service in Oakland, the top Sequential tech.
It is worth noting that there are small pockets of air under the touchpad, which can be felt and/or heard, but in no way affect the functionality of the touch pad. All buttons work properly.

About the P600:
Released in 1982, the Prophet 600 is the brother of the legendary Prophet 5 synthesizer, but has its own distinct character and sound. The Prophet 600 was also the first commercial synthesizer to implement MIDI and can store up to 100 patches in memory. The Prophet 600 features 6 voices of polyphony and has 2 oscillators per voice (VCOs - saw, triangle and pulse), oscillator sync, a low pass filter, 2 envelopes for VCF and VCA, arpeggiator, sequencer, glide and poly mod functions (to create FM timbres). The Prophet 600 is a versatile and capable analog synth and it excels at drones, pads, brassy sounds and cutting leads. The Prophet 600 "Gligli" upgrade also enhances it further with snappier envelopes, more LFO waveshapes, new arpeggiator functions, unison detune and more."

"For sale is a vintage Prophet-600 that is in mint condition. This 6-voice MIDI polysynth has 2 oscikllators (VCOs) and a resonant low-pass voltage controlled filter (VCF) in each of its 6 voices. In other words, it contains a total of 12-VCO's and 6 VCFs. The Prophet-600 uses the same Curtis IC chips (CEM3340 VCO ICs and CEM3372 VCF/VCA ICs) that were used in Sequential Circuits' flagship synth, the Prophet T8. The Prophet-600 also contains a built-in arpeggiator and a polyphonic sequencer with 2 memories. Like the Prophet-5 and the Prophet T8, the Prophet-600 contains a Poly-Mod section for frequency modulated (FM) effects. It has 100 programmable presets that can be stored on a cassette tape, a CD, or a PC. Presets are stored and/or loaded via the Tape In/Out jacks. I suggest you search the Internet if you need more information on the Prophet-600.

SPECIFICS
*This synth is 100% Functional. (Everything works as if it was brand new including all controls, pots, switches, LEDs, & input/output jacks.).
*The electronics is 100% Functional. All VCO's, VCFs, ADSR's, VCA's, LFO's, etc work as they should.
*The touch pad (membrane switches) works like new.
*The keyboard action is like new and all keys are in alignment. All 61 keys are functional and none of them stick.
*This synth is in immaculate cosmetic condition with no noticeable dings, scratches, or blemishes.

I purchased this polysynth from Wine Country Sequential in 2005 where it was restored and re-calibrated to factory specifications. Since it has only been used for occasional studio use, it remains in excellent condition."

via the seller: "Fantastic condition Sequential Circuits PROPHET 600 Restored by Wine Country in early 2013. I have the certificate of restoration & manual, they will be included in the sale. Serial #2293 It is in great physical shape with a few scratches on the wood ends & some scratches next to the POLY MOD & FREQ A sections. (SEE PICS) Master Tune needs to be set to RIGHT 5, I don't know if that is something Wine Country did in their restoration, but it needs to be set that way. It stays in tune without needing it to tune very often, especially after 20 minutes of warming up. This synthesizer works & sounds EXCELLENT! Check out the link to the video to hear this synthesizer in action! It is this Prophet 600 in this sale I used for the video for my sample collection. "The Prophet-600 is a 6-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer with a 5-octave, 61-note (C-C) keyboard. Each voice consists of two VCOs, two VCFs, and two VCAs. Each of these components has its own independent ADSR envelope. Each Prophet-600 voice uses 2 sets of Curtis Chips for its architecture. The sound originates in a pair of Curtis 3340 VCOs, each with independent on/off switches for sawtooth, triangle, and pulse waveforms. VCO1 can be synced to VCO2. Both oscillators are set with a frequency knob that is notched in semi-tones, with a separate fine tune knob for VCO2. Portamento is adjusted by a single knob. The sound then passes through a pair of Curtis 3372 chips. Each 3372 contains a VCF, a VCA, and a separate volume control for mixing. The VCF is a resonant 24dB/octave filter, with its own ADSR and knob for frequency. The frequency knob is quantized into steps, not allowing you to change it smoothly. Key follow can be set to full, half or off. The LFO can modulate the oscillators (both at the same time), the filter frequency, and the pulse width on the oscillator.

"Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 with GliGli mod. Here is a super-rad poly synth ( some say it is the first ever implementation of MIDI!) It's a six voice (2 osc per voice ) 100% analogue poly-synth with a dirty-raspy character. It's been described as raunchy, gritty, dirty, filthy, dark, vicious, dangerous, moody, plus it has poly-mod, an internal sequencer and serious character.

Some say it's a poor-mans Prophet 5, but I think it's more like the Prophet 5's Bad cousin breaking the law and hearts with wild abandon... but I digress. I have owned many an analogue synth and MAYBE the AX-60 comes close to having this much dirty fun, but not really. Nothing sounds like a Prophet 6 and frankly, I'm surprised that their prices have stayed so low ( what with stupid Jupiter 4's going for multiple thousands... ) anyway. The only reason I would sell this is because I have another ( which happens to have been my first synth ever ) and its just plain selfish to hold on to two of these babies.

This one is in excellent condition ( the top of one of the wooden ends lost a chunk somewhere, but that seems to be a normal battle scar for these things. ) it was recently serviced by the awesome folks at Switched On in Austin Texas. and is 100% functional and sounds devastatingly good. It has the Gli-Gli teensy mod installed ( which is amazing, look it up ) and it has a clever mod that preserves the delicate switch membranes installed as well. If you're in the market for a Prophet 600, this is the one. I promise it won't disappoint!"

"The prophet-600 is a six-note polyphonic 61-key MIDI analog synthesizer released by SEQUENTIAL CURCUITS in 1982.

Although it is positioned as a cheap version of prophet-5, the tone is different.

The prophet-600 omits the noise generator and has a slightly smaller body than the prophet-5, making it more portable.

The configuration is 2VCO, 1VCF, 1VCA, 2EG. The tone memory has 100 programs.

If you select Unison mode, you can change from six-note polyphonic to monophonic. Glide works polyphonically.
The filter is made by Curtis.

via the seller: "Up for auction is my Sequential Circuits Prophet 600 analog synth. I am the original owner of this keyboard, and this is the first time it has been on eBay. It has a new 'membrane pad', and and as far as I can tell is now is in perfect working order. All the pots and switches work perfectly, with no noise or 'scratchiness', All the keys work PERFECTLY and are flush [see photos.] All six voices play. Midi In and Out works perfectly. [Midi is limited to note on and note off. This was the first Midi keyboard.] The only thing I haven't checked out is the tape cassette data transfer for loading and unloading patches, but I have no reason to believe it doesn't work. As you can see by the photos, this keyboard is in excellent condition. There are some scratches on the bottom plate from the keyboard stand [see pics.] Even the wood end panels are perfect. The only problem I've ever had with this board is the membrane pad, which has been replaced. The Prophet 600 came out after the Prophet 5, and is the very first midi synthesizer, therefore it's midi capabilities are limited, but if you're looking you probably know that."

"Prophet 600 with GliGli mod recently professionally serviced in this last month. The Voice Boards, Main Board, and Power Supply have all been fully recapped with the Synthchaser Capacitor Kit. Other services performed include a new LED display was installed, two chips were replaced in Voices 1 and 5, all voices were tested and calibrated, new battery installed, new Audio Out jack installed, and all knobs and switches were cleaned.

In addition, a high quality ZIF socket was installed for very easy switching back and forth between the GliGli Teensy and the original CPU. This sale includes the original OS, however, in my honest opinion, the GliGli mod upgrades the sound of the P600 light years beyond what the original CPU was ever capable of. Even through good studio monitors YouTube demos do not it justice. It is truly a Nitro boost to the sound!

The combo of the GliGli upgrade, plus the full recap, calibration, and cleaning has left this Prophet 600 sounding pristine. The sound is large, deep and sophisticated. I also own a Prophet 5 and often times I just simply prefer the sound of the GliGli P600!"

"Here is a beautiful and fully operational example of a Sequential Circuits Prophet 600.
This unit has been meticulously serviced and upgraded to bring it to it's absolute fullest potential.
All of the insides have been perfectly calibrated and tuned. All tantalum capacitors have been changed with high quality electrolytic, a common flaw in all sequential gear. All controls have been cleaned and the membrane pad works perfectly. The keybed, another common ailment of prophet 600's, has been serviced to ensure it will not loose notes.

The unit features 2 upgrades:

GliGLi CPU modification, which is the mod that makes these prophets scream as loud as it's older the brother, the prophet 5."
