Elektron MKIII MDUW?

via shagghie on the forum.

"I got to test the mkIII a week ago as well while in Sweden. Here's a pic with a shot of Absinthe on top. No photochopping, either. Looks like the new Compreder will also use the same new green displays? The mkIII MDUW's are awesome! SD-Card Readers, Analog bassline synth part... just to name a few! It's going to be a great year for Techno!"

TekFunk Full Liva PA (Shagghie vs. Ritardo Montalban) MachineDrums and 303 (part 1)
YouTube via shagghie
"ekFunk Recording artist and owner Victor John (aka Ritardo) and Shagghie go full live PA at a house party in San Diego. The table is three MachineDrums (two with custom green Matrix mods) and a very special 303 of Ritardo's. A Kaos Pad 3 and A&H Xone62 round out the sound. We work so well together that two of the MachineDrums were 'ad hoc improve' driven, building each pattern up from scratch in real time. Green MD's customized with help from the esteemed Pavel Kirkovsky. We're currently booking up 2009, so please have your agents contact us via PM. 2009 is going to blow up, with new releases, and live PAs. Thanks to our fans for all your love and support. And yeah, Happy Birthday Bobby!"

Matrix Green MachineDrum (Shagghie ft. Bacon the Flying Pig)

YouTube via shagghie

"Sneak Peak Preview of a track called Detroid that Bacon and I are working on. Green MachineDrum transformation was no easy feat, but with help from Pavel (http://pavel.kirkovsky.com), and after many months of dealing with obtuse factories in China...the green display was provisioned, and matching LEDs installed, along with black faceplate with the "Shagghie" logo (artwork by VictorJohn of Tekfunk Recordings). It turned out so perfect that we are building another one just like it as we speak for my live PA's. Thanks for all of Katy Rokit's support as well, can't do squat without her these days... :)
Thanks to Jon of Elektron too, for another great NAMM and for the constant hope of 'something new' just in time for 2010 from the Elektron Elves...I'm sure Dan is going to smile from above!
Lastly, a huge thanks to Matrix of MatrixSynth (matrixsynth.blogspot.com) for all his years of ongoing support to the synth community. This one's for you...from Bacon and I." Thanks Shagghie and Bacon! :)

Update: some more detail from Shagghie: "It's a customized MachineDrum... the displays are no longer being made, so sourcing a green one took the better part of 5 months using google translator and visiting chinese and swedish websites.... the LED's from Mouser. The top is a custom black top. Other than that, it is a MD UW mkII underneath..."

Klaus Schulze Black Quasimidi Polymorphs

Saw this posted on VSE by Shagghie.

"I'm forced to depart with the most incredible example of a quasimidi polymorph ever. It is one of K.S.'s black polymorphs from his 'wall' tour, complete with the original 'moogy' knobs he prefered, and running the latest OS and restore to original settings/condition. This is the one to own...and it sounds amazing. One of those pieces I swore I'd never sell...but life and finances are really pressing right now, and I'm not able to use it like it deserves to be used. I will include original manual, original PSU, and the black hard-case I store it in with custom foam fitting.

It's one of these, though I am not sure which one...perhaps the one he's reaching for?

You can see the actual one here in this video right around 1'20" into it:

Previously posted Serious Quasimidi / K.S. fans only. It doesn't get any better than this... $1500 / obo" Interesting. I didn't realize they were Black and made for Klaus Schulze with MOOG style knobs. If anyone has any close up shots of it, post a comment. I sent Shagghie a PM to see if he can take some for us before it sells. Update via Shagghie: "Hey Matrix....I did some digging at the request of someone and apparently Manikin Electronic (http://www.manikin-electronic.com) made a half dozen of these "Special edition black K.S. Polymorphs" that were a continuation on the 'K.S. factory run' they did for his wall originally in the first place. Still, a very limited/rare piece, however! Hence, i can't be positive that this actual unit is from K.S.'s wall! I don't want to give any wrong impressions given the way the post currently reads. A huge favor it would be if you could append this to the end as an 'update' from me? -shag" Update: Here's a shot of it (click for a bigger pic):

ZO1U Cyndustries Custom 1-U Zeroscillator For Sale

via Shagghie on the AH list:

"VZO in 1-U format, hand wired by Cynthia. A total labor of love that took her the better part of a year to design, build and test. If it isn't one thing these days it's another...so I'm REALLY hoping this goes to 'the right' home and will be utilized heavily, etc. Lowered the price I was previously willing to let it go at to just $1195 + shipping. PayPal or cash only. I'm in San Diego in case you are local and prefer to pick up."

contact Shagghie at gmail.com if you are interested.

You might remember this one from this post.

Futre-Retro XS Bacon Session 3: Lesson 1 & 2 knobbery

YouTube via shagghie
"Bacon was exhausted after 1 and 2... on this one, he allows Shagghie to touch the knobs..even more than one at time. Video demonstrates lessons gleaned from a 1 & 2. Please note, and this is no joke, that my camera mic broke during these sessions during my first take..the bass coming out was so strong and subsonic, that now the mix has a white hiss noise and doesn't work the same. A Cannon Elf too!"

Future-Retro XS Bacon Session 1: Env 1 Amt to Filter

"Bacon demonstrates how to turn this knob on the all-new F-R XS. The only thing that sizzles more than Bacon is the XS. More to follow, but watch them in the right order, if you don't mind."

My Proposal to Katy Rokit during MachineDrum Live PA

Published on Jan 5, 2009 KatyRokit

"Shagghie's Live PA at The Kava Lounge on Dec 12th, 2008.
He asked me, 'WYMM', by plugging in robotic vocal samples into his drum machine towards the end of this amazing Live PA. i said yes!"

Elektron Machinedrum, Monomachine and Roland TB-303

Update: some details from Shagghie:
"I proposed to vocalist Katy Rokit during a live PA at the Kava Lounge last month...
I plugged in speak-and-spell style vocals into each part of the MachineDrum during my
last song of the set...such that it would say "Katy Rokit Will You Marry Me", and let those parts build up as I dropped out other parts. This vid is of the last few minutes of the set and captures the proposal, and her delightful reaction, too! (she said yes, amazingly!)

For the synth heads... the live show was centered around the MachineDrum, a Beast 303 (www.thebeast.co.uk), a Kaos Pad 3 for FX and transitions, and an RNC compressor off the back of a Xone62 into the house mixer. Full audio of the entire set in high-res is here

Quite simply, the best night of my life. Thanks to VictorJohn and the Android Cartel and the army of TekFunkers for all your support, being there, and making that night so very special."

HighSage - Pre-Coachella Live PA by The High Sage

"Live PA Shagghie highsage Machinedrum elektron octatrack monomachine Yamaha an200 ecler Dj set performance coachella nuo eventide pitchfactor pitch factor

Really hoping to get a lot of feedback, comments, suggestions, likes/dislikes, etc. on this one. This is about "80%" refined, so at this point, to get to the next 20% of improvement, I need open/honest feedback.
Thanks in advance everyone!

acidlab M1AM1 First Jam Uncut

"TR-808, acidlab, Miami, M1AM1, M1AMI, MIAM1, TR-606, TR-909, Bassline, Shagghie, demo, Klaus

Took the new acidlab M1AM1 for a spin the other night. This is raw, uncut jamming on it. Made the pattern in about 12 min., and just jammed on it the whole time. It's not mixed, this is just the main mono out. The shuffle settings are awesome, and this one I think does a great job to highlight at least ONE of the settings. This is practically a track already by the sound of it. The kick and toms play so well off each other that for a lot of applications a bassline and/or sub synth is not needed for a house vibe like this."

Highsage - ToorCon - 2012 - Live Elektron Hardware Performance (excerpt)

Published on Oct 22, 2012 by shagghie

"Deep into an hour long set in a warehouse downtown surrounded by the best hackers on planet earth at a private underground party. h1kari, geo, and nfiltr8 ... thanks for another great Toorcon, and the best party ever. Thanks to Qualcomm, too, for sponsoring this particular party. Any time I'm sweating as much as the dance floor, you KNOW it's gotta be good!"

Highsage ToorCon.org Party Studio Run (Full-Length HQ Audio) Live Elektron Hardware Set

Published on Oct 23, 2012 by shagghie

"This is the studio pre-run video take and live un-edited HQ audio leading up to the amazing Toorcon.org underground warehouse party in San Diego on Oct 20th, 2012. This set was performed in front of several hundred of the world's best hackers... no ordinary party, and it was quite a show! Mad respect to h1kari, nfiltr8, and geo for one of the best 'cons in many many years, and to Qualcomm for helping fund the sound and ever-flowing bar tab. Set is performed on a pair of Elektron Octatracks and a Machinedrum and some in-line FX, all mixed on the Octatrack and into the house mixer. Down and dirty Detroit style techno and house with a nod to the old guard trance coming out of the early 90's...all with a modern Elektron performance style twist. Tradition and Future, Liberation of the Machines in true hacker form. Shouts to Dreamlabs, Skippy, Marcel and the ever-sexy Katy Rokit, whose vocal samples are woven throughout the set."

Wrapping Rainbows - Shagghie - Rozzbox demo

"K-
This track was recorded live, in a single take.
Rozzbox into Eventide TimeFactor, into E-H 2ube pre running two 1949 Wurlitzer 12Ax7's out of my old 4100BD organ.
That went straight into Logic Studio 8, along with the Jomox xbase 888 on the drums using some simple, but effective patterns.

I chose not to sequence the melody, but rather played it by hand, while reserving my left hand for the Rozzbox knobs. This helped me do legato pads and velocity emotionally. I rehearsed the general idea twice, but then just 'let it out'.

Backstory.. my girlfriend Kate couldn't sleep one night. I got a text message from her. So I awoke, went to studio that was lit only by a blacklight, and fired up the rozz and the 8's, etc. 2 hours later, is what you hear here.... a lullaby called "Wrapping Rainbows" that shows the Rozz's beauty and the beast....and expresses my love for my girlfriend. I emailed her the .mp3 to her iPhone..she popped in some earbuds, and awoke the next morning with a pillow that was still wet from the tears she cried.

I've never known a synth that can capture and *convey* so much raw emotion so effectively.

Now, if you would just come out with that ENGLISH manual! :)

"Treo" Bad Blinky Live Performance (teaser)

YouTube via shagghie.
"Audio is the first few minutes of our live performance. Videos shot from our studio. Props go out to TekFunk.com!"

Update via Shagghie in the comments:

You can grab the entire 35 min .mpg of the performance there.

The video is just the intro...the rest gets completely off the hook wild, and requires headphones if you are at all a synth head. Which you are. That Ebbe und Flute..amazing. "

highsage elektron love

via Scott Shagghie Scheferman aka highsage on Facebook

"I'm going to be doing the last performance of the summer at SPIN nightclub in San Diego on Aug 4th. A pounding 136bpm Acid Techno stomper of a set, with psychodelic accents, vocal samples from Katy Rokit and some of my favorite vinyl, and a whole lot more. The set is about 1.5 hours at this point, using only the machinedrum, octatrack and a 303 with some Boss pedals. No loops.. this is a pure live hardware performance. The next time I'm likely to play out is when @DanielTroberg comes out from Sweden again. Then we are going back to back, battle style! I'll update you with a recording after the show! -shagghie / highsage"

Jam: "It's a small world" for machines (mini-tour of studio)

And one more sent my way via shagghie.

"A rare mini tour of Shagghie's studio. Kind of like "it's a small world" for machines. I'm just letting them talk here...haven't done much to tame them or get them all to speak the same language, even if at the least they are all on the same clock. :)"

SunSyn meets Magneto-Tube Random Noise Gen!

Another sent my way via shagghie.

"Went by the surplus store today and scored a gem of a module...a vintage HH Scott model 811-B Random Noise Generator... This thing is sick. So of course I ran it through my SunSyn and let the noise modulate the LPF Cutoff Freq. Here's the lofi version..hifi version up shortly after. Thing has ASA, RF, AF, and LF noise modes...anyone know what those stand for?"

Roland TB-303 Modded

click here for more shots sent my way via Shagghie. Details:
"Blue *shaved* LEDs, such that they are flush with the surface, which is better for extended use as your fingers don't impact the LEDs themselves, and it also diffuses the LED's intensity too by adding a 'frosting effect' of sorts. Very trick!

The MIDI in and out cables are for the Colin Frasier midi kit.... and they connect via two custom, well-made mini cables (1/8", pictured). The Colin midi kit is the best on the market by far....you can play back any midi sequence from the 303's own sequencer later on, so you effectively have 'infinite memory' when used with your DAW's sequencer, etc. It's totally, completely, amazing. For production, it's insane to be able to recall a track you worked on a year ago, and replay the midi sequence back to the 303...it's comes back IDENTICAL to the 303's original sequencer...just make sure Logic's 'quantize' features are off when recording the original 303 sequence. For live perforamance, it's also awesome to clock off the MachineDrum, without need for any third converter boxes, etc. The MD can even 'play' this 303 with it's own midi machines, too...for a different non-acid vibe. Radical!"
