1995 Rise of the Robots - 3DO Intro and Gameplay

Published on Jun 5, 2012 smcgarr·155 videos

Check out :23 - :29 in the intro above.

via wikipedia: "Rise of the Robots is a 1994 fighting game developed by Mirage Studios and published by Time Warner Interactive. It was ported to numerous home console and computer formats, and was also released as an arcade game cabinet."

What's up with a rendered TB-303 being featured in it?

This on in via cheater:

"This is a rare version of the relatively obscure 1994 fighting game Rise of the Robots on the obscure console 3DO. The game's only redeeming quality was the cool electronic music.

The shocker is that one credited musician is Brian May (of Queen fame). But he only did the guitar riff sample used in the main menu. The techno music was credited to "Fuzzy+Logic / Clown Factory"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvyXPmN5Os4

The original is called "The Dark":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmQpEnOUdrE

Anyways the 3DO version shows a TB-303 and guitar (the latter probably refers to Brian May, no idea if the former should too?). Then we get some nice 303/808 tracks rolling during the intros.

The 3DO version incidentally does not have any music playing during the fighting sequences. There's also a SNES version and a Genesis version, and the latter has a much cooler soundtrack (due to FM synthesis rather than tiny samples). Here are some links:

Have a lot of fun listening. The Genesis music is pretty cool. Not as epic as Brian's original track, but it holds its own."

ENSONIQ SQ-80 Synthesizer 1987 | HD DEMO | NEW PATCHES

Published on Aug 30, 2016 AnalogAudio1

"(c) 2016 by AnalogAudio1

You can buy these patches for your SQ-80 - read the description for further details (scroll down).

Synthesizer demo of the ENSONIQ SQ-80 from 1987.
The intro sequence was produced with the sequencer of the SQ-80 playing sounds from the AnalogAudio1 patch bank. In this movie I play my own sounds - on some sounds I used a small amount of reverb from a Dynacord DRP 20 or/and a Korg SDD-3000 for delay effects (but no other effects like compression or chorus).

The ENSONIQ SQ-80 is an upgraded, enhanced version of the popular ESQ-1 from 1986. You could say, it's a "turbo version". It has more waveforms, a floppy disc drive, more sequencer memory, a phones jack, a lighter casing and other improvements. It still has the same great analog lowpass filters, which sound great when overdriven (like heard in the video). The SQ-80 is a flexible synth. It has 3 oscillators, 4 envelopes, 4 DCAs and 3 LFO's per voice. OSC sync and amplitude modulation possible - like on analog synthesizers. It has a velocity sensitive keyboard and polyphonic aftertouch. Built in pattern sequencer (similar to the one in the Akai MPCs).

ROLAND ALPHA JUNO Analog Synthesizer 1985 | HD DEMO | PATCHES

Published on May 14, 2015 AnalogAudio1

"(c) 2015 by AnalogAudio1

You can buy these patches - read the description for further details (scroll down).

Synthesizer demo of the analog synthesizer Roland Alpha Juno(1) from 1985.
In this movie I play some of my own sounds - on some sounds I used a small amount of digital delay from a Korg SDD-3000 or reverb from a Lexicon MPX-500.

The Alpha Juno has a similar voice architecture to the earlier Junos - but on the Alpha some things were enhanced: variable chorus speed, a more complex envelope, the envelope can be routed to the pitch, additional waveforms, the PWM has its own dedicated LFO, key velocity and aftertouch (can be routed to filter or volume).

How Do You Juno Contest is Closed - Time to Vote!

Cast your official vote at the official Roland "How do You Juno?" contest site. Then come back and vote here. I thought it would be interesting to see what people here vote for compared to there. Below are the vids and below that is a poll for MATRIXSYNTH ONLY. Be sure to vote at Roland otherwise your vote will not count in the official contest and your favorite will not have your support. The polls below have zero weight in the official contest. Just thought I'd put them up for fun. Note there are two polls below, one without Jexus so we can compare the official entries to Roland's official poll and another poll with Jexus for the heck of it. :)

ROLAND JX-3P Analog Synthesizer 1983 | HD DEMO | PATCHES

Published on Jan 30, 2014 AnalogAudio1·123 videos

"(c) 2014 by AnalogAudio1

You can buy these patches - read the description for further details.

Synthesizer demo of the analog synthesizer Roland JX-3P from 1983.
In this movie I play some of my own sounds - on some sounds I used a small amount of digital delay from a Roland DEP-5 (my favourite unit for delays).

The JX-3P has a flexible sound architecture with 2 DCOs, oscillator synch, ring modulation and more LFO waveforms. Just one ADSR, like the Juno series. It also has chorus (just one setting). The JX-3P has not many sliders and knobs... you get them if you buy the programmer PG-200 from Roland.
_____________________________________________________

THE SOUND PROGRAMS IN THIS MOVIE:

Do you own a Roland JX-3P synth and want to get these fantastic sounds for your synth?

The brandnew "ANALOGAUDIO1 JX-3P PATCH BANK" costs 12,99 Euros and includes 64 great patches (two banks with 32 patches) fat analog pads, great retro sounds, fantastic basses, sequencer sounds and funky leads (in one word: all you hear in the video and some more).

As an experienced synth player and composer I created these patches for professional use. This patchbank gets the most out of your Roland JX-3P. Also included is a patch list (PDF), to find the right sounds quickly. The sounds are not available anywhere else.

The patchbank will only work with a JX-3P and with the MKS-30 Planet S (which is the rack format of the JX-3P).

After payment through PayPal you will get the patchbank as a sound file (wav) for the built in tape interface of your JX-3P and a patchlist (list with names of the patches) via email.

If you want to buy the "ANALOGAUDIO1 JX-3P PATCHBANK", send a message to ceramic-man@gmx.de (and check your spam folder, I answer quickly).

ENSONIQ ESQ-1 Synthesizer 1986 | HD DEMO | PATCHES

Published on Jul 20, 2014 AnalogAudio1

"(c) 2014 by AnalogAudio1

You can buy these patches - read the description for further details.

Synthesizer demo of the ENSONIQ ESQ-1 from 1986.
The intro sequence was produced with the sequencer of the ESQ-1. In this movie I play my own sounds - on some sounds I used a small amount of reverb from a Lexicon MPX-500. In the short "Oxygene part" I also used an Electro-Harmonix SMALL STONE phaser and a delay from ROLAND DEP-5.

The ENSONIQ ESQ-1 is a hybrid synthesizer from 1986. It has 32 digital waveforms and analog lowpass filter. It is flexible, since it employs 3 oscillators, 4 envelopes, 4 DCAs and 3 LFO's per voice. OSC sync and amplitude modulation possible - like on analog synthesizers. It has a velocity sensitive keyboard. In my opinion the ESQ-1 behaves pretty much like an analog synthesizer. The main differences are: it has more complex envelopes than ADSR, and it has digital oscillators. It is 8 voice polyphonic. Also it has a built in pattern sequencer. It is a kind of "poorman's PPG". The English manual is written very well, it's a pleasure to read.

The ESQ-1 has been used by Adamski, Jean-Michel Jarre, Front Line Assembly among others...

playing the minimoog - Happy 5th Anniversery YouTube!

YouTube via lesingemonotone — May 17, 2010 — "Some different sounds on the minimoog. Happy 5th Anniversery youtube! :)"

I wasn't sure if I was going to mention YouTube's anniversary, but seeing it mentioned in the description of this video, I figured I might as well. In case you didn't know, today is the five year anniversary of YouTube. I didn't realize how close it was to the five year anniversary of MATRIXSYNTH (the blog version that is) which is coming up on July 10. When I first started the blog, any video featuring a synth on YouTube went up. Same for Flickr shots. It's amazing how far things have come. Without YouTube and now Vimeo, we'd be missing out on so many synth videos. Happy Birthday YouTube!!!

The "ANALOGAUDIO1 JUNO-106 PATCH BANK" costs 12,99 Euros and includes 64 great patches - lush analog pads, great retro sounds, fat basses, sequencer sounds and funky leads (in one word: all you hear in the video and some more).

As an experienced synth player, programmer and composer I programmed these patches at a professional level for studio use. This patchbank gets the most out of your Roland Juno-106. Also included is a patch list (PDF), to find the right sounds quickly. The sounds are not available anywhere else.

The patchbank will only work with a Juno-106, but NOT with the Juno-60 or other synths.

After payment through PayPal you will get a sound file (wav) for the tape interface of your Juno-106 and a patchlist via email.

If you want to buy the "ANALOGAUDIO1 Juno-106 PATCHBANK", send me a message through YouTube (and check your spam folder, I answer quickly).

KORG DW-8000 Synthesizer 1985 | HD DEMO | PATCHES

You can buy these patches - read the description for further details.

Synthesizer demo of the vintage synthesizer Korg DW-8000 from 1985.
In this movie I play some of my own sounds - no additional effects or eq were used.

The Korg DW-8000 is a expanded version of the DW-6000. It is 8 voice polyphonic, has digital waveforms and analog resonant filters. Velocity sensitive keyboard. It has a built in digital delay and a really good arpeggiator, which can be synced via MIDI.

THE SOUND PROGRAMS IN THIS MOVIE:

Do you own a Korg DW-8000 or EX-8000 and want to get those fantastic sounds for your synth?

The brandnew "ANALOGAUDIO1 DW-8000 PATCH BANK" costs 12,99 Euros and includes 64 great patches - warm analog pads, hybrid pads, percussive sounds, leads, fat basses, and sequencer sounds (in one word: all you hear in the video and some more).

As an experienced synth player and composer I created these patches for professional use. This patchbank gets the most out of your Korg DW-8000. Also included is a patch list (PDF), to find the right sounds quickly. The sounds are not available anywhere else.

The patchbank will work with a DW-8000 or EX-8000, but NOT with the DW-6000. For the DW-6000 I created a different patch bank.

After payment through PayPal you will get the patchbank as a sound file (wav) for the tape interface of your DW-8000 and a patchlist via email.

If you want to buy the "ANALOGAUDIO1 DW-8000 PATCHBANK", send me a message through YouTube (and check your spam folder, I answer quickly).

Pre-Acid 303 - Early Roland TB-303 Tracks

The subject of a TB-303 revival came up on the Analog Heaven mailing list. The discussion lead to some sharing the first tracks featuring the 303, including of course pre-Acid tracks. The following are a few of them including a couple by Alexander Robotnick I tracked down. They are in order of release by year ending with Phuture's "Acid Tracks", credited as the first Acid track ever, for good measure. Wikipedia on Acid. If you know of any others pre 1987, feel free to comment or shoot me an email and I'll add it to the post. I know there was a track which used the 303 as a traditional bass guitar, but I forget what it was.

Update: Two from Heaven 17 via Pea in the comments added to the top:
